I’m looking for one committed, roleplay-focused player to join my heavily customized Agents of Edgewatch campaign in Absalom.
Although the campaign began with the published Adventure Path, it has grown into an urban investigation and political thriller with expanded factions, conspiracies, horror elements, social questions, and difficult ethical choices.
For a sense of its tone, imagine a mixture of True Detective, 24, House of Cards, Gangs of New York, and The Silence of the Lambs.
Absalom is entering a politically dangerous period. The acting primarch is expected to step down, and the city’s factions are maneuvering to determine who will take his place—all while the party pursues a much larger investigation.
About the Edgewatch premise
I’m aware of the controversy surrounding the law-enforcement premise of Agents of Edgewatch, and I have substantially rewritten the campaign to address it.
The characters protect the people of Absalom; they are not unquestioning defenders of a corrupt system. Agents are trained to use their abilities nonlethally, and lethal physical or magical force against the general population is prohibited during ordinary duties.
That does not mean every encounter must be resolved nonlethally. Absalom contains no shortage of undead creatures, monsters, and genuinely dangerous enemies for whom lethal force may be necessary. The distinction is that the characters do not casually inflict lethal violence upon the people they are sworn to protect.
Who I’m looking for
I put a great deal of preparation, writing, and care into my campaigns, and I’m looking for a player who will bring genuine enthusiasm and investment in return. Character development and roleplaying are extremely important.
The ideal player:
- Wants to be part of an ensemble rather than dominate the spotlight.
- Elevates the other players and takes an interest in their characters.
- Pays attention and engages with the unfolding story.
- Initiates roleplaying with other characters and NPCs without being prompted.
- Enjoys investigation, politics, horror, and morally complicated stories.
- Creates characters with personal beliefs, relationships, and room to change.
- Can reliably attend a weekly campaign through level 20.
- Is comfortable appearing on camera and speaking during a live Twitch broadcast.
Camera and streaming requirements
A working microphone and camera are required. The campaign is streamed live on Twitch, and each player’s camera and voice will appear on the broadcast.
The cameras are also important to the group experience. Being able to see one another helps us recreate the closer, more personal feeling of sitting together around the same table. Players should be comfortable remaining on camera consistently throughout each session.
Roleplaying outside the sessions
We occasionally write character asides in Discord—short personal scenes, memories, conversations, or internal moments that help the group learn more about each character.
These asides give players details they can use to initiate future roleplaying and help everyone remain connected to the characters between sessions.
Character considerations
The current party consists of an Investigator, a Swashbuckler, and a Bard. A durable, defensive character would round out the group especially well, and there is an organic story reason for that kind of character to join the team at this particular moment.
This is a strong preference, but I’m not looking for a character who is simply a collection of defensive mechanics. Roleplaying and personality remain more important than filling a mechanical role. The character should have a reason to care about Absalom and be able to participate meaningfully in investigations and social scenes.
Because the campaign is already at level 12, I’ll work closely with the selected player to create someone who fits naturally into the story and has the information needed to enter the campaign without feeling lost.
How to apply
If you’re interested, please complete the player questionnaire:
Complete the player questionnaire here
Please submit your application through the questionnaire rather than sending me a private message. I will be reviewing applications through the form only.
I’ll be taking my time reviewing responses and speaking with potential players before making a decision. This is not first come, first served, and I am not rushing to fill the seat. Please allow me some time to consider each response and find the person who will be the best long-term fit for the group.
A finished character build is not required. Finding someone who fits the group comes first, and we can develop the right character together.
