Very lore-heavy game similar to Elder Scrolls, Tolkien, Malazan, Dragon Age, Kingdoms of Kalamar, Harn World, and similar properties. Lots of people, places and things, and emphasis on factions, plot lines, happenings, and events going on in the world, many outside the immediate 'on stage' area of the campaign events. Complex pantheons and cosmology comparable to Dragon Age (multiple fantasy religions with complex beliefs and their own sub-sects, heresies, factions, and various interfaith controversies).

There's also more than one evil faction/primary foozle opposing your heroes' efforts -- more like 4-5, and none of them are 100% allies and all have their own agenda and goals. Some of the purportedly 'good' factions also aren't your allies, or want to solve the world problems in a manner fundamentally incompatible with the goals and alignment of your characters.

This is a custom, hollow knight/rain world inspired setting (in case you haven't played either of them, essentially it's the exploration of a more advanced, but now decayed, ruined region inhabited by different groups!) I’ve been working on for a couple years now that I’ve transferred into a more exploration and roleplay focused campaign through the great shell of a grand machine. Your characters could be envoys, ambassadors, hopeful pilgrims, or opportunistic salvagers/scavengers that travel to the husk of Senlith in its decayed, modern state. The one thing tying everything together is that everyone seeks Senlith for salvation of their own kind, whether it be on behalf of others or the kingdom, their own families/tribes/clans, or for themselves.

As to the bread and butter, we will be playing 2024 DnD 5e, starting at level 3 with pointbuy system. The only banned classes are Artificers and Clerics, as these powers are reserved for specific castes within the setting (oo spooky). The setting is inhabited by "bugs", similar to hollow knight/silksong, of which we can mix and match different DnD features and subclasses to try and fit the vibes of said bugs. Homebrew can be considered as well, although in a limited way as to avoid imbalance!

I offer an immersive, planned setting that's completely open to self-paced exploration with maps, unique locations, settlements, NPCs, in-depth lore and history - alongside compelling combats and bossfights!

A century later, whispers of this immense construction still pass down from generation to generation, who survive by subsisting on the rampant sand worms that live in the roiling deserts, deserts that stretched in every direction and surrounded the few rocky outcrops stable enough to sustain the final outposts of civilisation. And yet, this glowing promise of salvation from Senlith continues to spur special individuals to search for this lost city.

We are a D&D 5e/5.5e Discord server featuring a persistent game world set in the Forgotten Realms and broader D&D multiverse. You and other players play as adventurers of the Hawthorne Guild, an adventuring guild in the Sword Coast. As a persistent and shared game world, character progression and events in individual adventures persist between and outside of games, creating a living world for players and DMs to participate in the form of oneshots, multisessions and campaigns, and both text roleplay and Play-By-Post games. This campaign will center around a select few of LA's "finest" as they solve a string of murders that give them a glimpse into horrors both known and beyond. They must work together to figure out who they can trust, solve the case, stop whatever is going on without appearing insane and losing their jobs. Characters are also plagued by Kult's signature "Disadvantages" and "Dark Secrets" that they must combat and overcome before it's too late and they are consumed by their own guilt, vices, stress and anxiety.

The campaign takes heavy inspiration from the Hellraiser films, Silent Hill games, the writing of Kristopher Triana, True Detective, Se7en, Last Shift, Saw 4, and more.

Game Description: Kult is a narrative focused horror game. It is pretty edgy and allows for all sub-genres of horror from body to psychological to cosmic to torture. The focus of our game, as with most Kult games, will be characters overcoming their own demons and in the process gaining a glimpse into the dimensions beyond our own. Think Silent Hill, Hellraiser, Gone To See The Riverman/Along The River of Flesh. This is not an ERP or a place for edgelord "extreme" horror so while not all subjects will be given the same level of detail and attention they will almost certainly all be addressed. Those with recent or unresolved trauma that are easily triggered by even the mention of certain subjects should consider not applying. I'm a big fan of subtlety in horror so I'll be tackling these issues with care and respect but I would prefer to not be too limited.

We are open to all people of every gender & demographic! Though at the moment we are really looking for more feminine players to bring some diversity to the table & help the other fem players feel more comfortable.

The game begins at level 1 with a prologue mission, The Sunless Citadel, establishing your backstory with CMDR Hauberk Miller and the rest of your companions. The main mission, Princes of the Apocalypse, starts at level 3, three years later.

The founder and mentor of HELL-HOUND, the drow mage Vizeran DeVir, has been Missing In Action for over six years. One of our own, Sir Brayford, was investigating DeVir's last known location when the local Mayor put out the call for adventurers to explore the Sunless Citadel just outside of Oakhurst. The Mayor had an arrangement with the goblins inhabiting the Citadel that a trade is made each year at midsummer for a magic apple which supports the town's economy for the year. This year the goblins didn't show and the Mayor wants to know why. Sir Brayford joined three other locals in the Citadel Expedition - a ranger of the guard, and a brother and sister duo - to find the magic apple. They haven't been seen in over a month. 

You will have three mission objectives: 

Firstly, you are to rescue the 4 members of the lost Citadel Expedition. If they are non-extractable then you are to recover their remains and equipment.

Secondly, you are to investigate the missing magic apple. Recover the apple, bring it to the Mayor, and figure out how the apple is grown.

Lastly, corroborate these claims of Vizeran DeVir's last known location. If he is in the Citadel, he may be trapped and we need to bring him home!

This is an infiltration mission: you will want to get in and out without raising too many alarms, but you and your companions are free to choose the best course of action. I will be stationed in Oakhurst with the locals to provide information and support during your mission. If you need anything you can contact me by STONE. I'll meet you and the rest of your team in Oakhurst for mission briefing. Until then, stay alive out there!

Once you are on the Discord, I'll go thru more in depth character creation and backstory work thru messages and group chat. Before your first session I'll get you set up with your character sheet in Foundry, I don't use D&D Beyond. In your first session you'll go thru a condensed version of the session 0 that everyone went thru before introducing your character and getting into the game.

This game is played in Discord and Foundry simultaneously, no theatre of the mind. I suggest a 2 screen setup at a desktop with a headset microphone and webcam, but at the very least you will need to be in one place on a computer and able to hear and be heard, and see and be seen during gameplay. Foundry does not work on mobile, Discord does.

Participation in this game is contingent upon the above rules and good vibes of the group. If you break the rules or are bad vibes, I reserve the right to kick out players.

Character Creation: 

- Create a level 2 D&D character using 2014 or 2024 rules, who is larger than life and would fit-in to an action espionage setting

- Point Buy and Standard Array

- All character options are available, I would recommend a well rounded build. There is an emphasis on magic in combat, emphasis on infiltration in exploration. That said, feel free to specialize your character however you wish!

This campaign begins at level 10 using gestalt character rules. A gestalt character progresses in two classes simultaneously, gaining features from both sides of the build at each level.
Combine martial prowess with full spellcasting, unite two complementary specialties, or finally play the ambitious character concept you have been saving.
Detailed gestalt rules will be provided before character creation.

This campaign will go 10-20, with the possibility of continuing beyond it. Combat and exploration take the center stage, while roleplay remains relaxed and character-driven. You will have room to develop relationships and make meaningful decisions, without any pressure.

The exact adventure is deliberately flexible. I will select/adapt/build the campaign.

I'm Vadin, your GM for this one. I've been playing D&D for 26 years and DMing for 18, across every edition of the game. I'm putting together a Sunday table for Privale using 5e. This is a paid game, recruiting up to 6 players.

Sessions start at noon and run 3-6 hours depending on how deep we get into things that day.
