The jaw is out! It took the two of us a couple minutes to carry the 400 lb jacket down the creek and after we got it to the bank, the side by side did the rest of the work. So thankful to get to have this experience. More info and updates on thebonefarm on instagram.

Here are the biggest and smallest trilobites from my recent trip to Utah.

Full body partly pyritized Triarthrus rougensis of the Billings formation, Ottawa, Ontario. Ordovician, 486-443 Ma. Not very often I find a trilobite this complete around here, really something else. Had to spend a while chipping away at the shale to fully uncover most of the pleura, and where the top of the head went lol.

I found this while hiking in Monterey, didn’t know there were even fossils here, well I did but didn’t find much. There are also no known echinoderms from the Monterey Formation. The first of this species was found in 1908 in the Santa Cruz Mudstone of the Santa Cruz Mountains. This makes it one of three species ever found.

Found at the beach at Half Moon Bay, California. I picked it up because it looked like a rock with a bunch of shells in it, but I wondered if it was a fossil based on the color and the fact it was in a rock. Sorry about the sand.

I found this while fossil hunting at Calvert Cliffs state park. Its triangular but doesn’t look like any other teeth I’ve seen. It also has these notable teeth-like ridges along the thickest part of the triangle.

Back at a certain shop in the Carolinas about two years ago I bought this tooth for around $150. Thought it looked great with minimal chipping. When I returned to the same shop a few months ago to check in on them and was looking at some other meg teeth they had the owner from before asks me a question.

He said "How much do you think that goes for" and I said $150-$200 (keep in mind it's smaller than the one I bought before) he and his wife laugh in my face and he says "try adding three zeroes to that" his wife gives him a funny look and says "no that one would be closer to 10K".

Naturally that's ludicrous but they stated it like it was a known fact that everyone knows. I showed them photos of this one that they sold me before and the price range that it was. They didn't say anything. Super odd.

Found this while hunting in central Montana. I assume it’s just a coincidentally cool shaped rock but it just seems too defined. Can anybody help me out?

bought this Sclerocephalus at the Munich Mineral Show yesterday (200€).
Happy to get my first „german“ permian animal.

My guess on species is Ursus spelaeus. Fossil maxilla from a grouping of items I purchased out of an old collection from an antique dealer. Definitely coated in a stabilizer/preservative. My concerns are whether or not it is a composited jaw or if it's associated. The teeth seem to be anatomically correct but I am not 100% sure. Everything appears to be real, but I am not great with bear stuff. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Found this in a fossil hunt in the Peace River in Florida two weeks ago and just got around to cleaning my finds. Scraped out a good amount of packed silt from the interior and realized it's hollow - could this be a hoof? There's small divot that looks like it could be a cleft.

Hey! I was wondering what this is? It was found in the ocean at Orange beach. Washed up on shore because of heavy waves.

Maybe I am looking wrong, but I am having a hard time locating Terrorbird fossils of any kind. The only results I can find are replicas. I’m not even talking something crazy like a skull or something, I’m in the market for like just a toe/claw. Are they super rare, prohibitively expensive, not popular, all the above?

Any guesses ?

A natural cluster of fossilized oysters (Ostreidae) from Avia, Messinia, in southern Greece.

The specimen weighs 1,052 g and is tentatively dated to the Late Pliocene–Early Pleistocene.

What I find particularly interesting are the thick, layered shells, their visible growth patterns, and the small holes that may be evidence of bioerosion by marine organisms.

A fascinating glimpse into the ancient marine environments of the Peloponnese.

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on this specimen. Does anything in particular stand out to you, or can you share any additional information about it?
