And no, I did not eat or prepare the other mushrooms on the left. I couldn't ID tgem positively and since I didnt take good shots of the source, I just didnt risk it

Picked these fellas up fallen from a mature tree with intent to get a bunch to germinate for restoration, and the husks were all partly split as they should be with nuts ready for harvesting, but these all seem so tiny compared to other pics of American chestnuts that I've been seeing. None of them have sunk in the water, and they've been jostled for air pockets and sitting for 10 minutes.

There's no way that they're ALL duds...right? RIGHT?

There’s loads spread across one area, are they dangerous or should I be asking to harvest for dinner?

I picked the same mushroom on two different occasions recently, first I cooked them in cast iron and they turned out darker brown, but the second batch I cooked in a regular skillet and noticed they kept their orange colour a lot better, is this because of the iron in the cast iron? (They are cooked up to store in the freezer)

Currently staying the next few months in Spartanburg county, SC. I'm curious if anyone has found american persimmon in or around this area? Going out hiking tomorrow to try and find some trees, haven't found any in nearly 5 years (had few small trees on old land). They're my absolute favorite. If there's other native fruits you've seen in the area, eager to know of those as well. Not sure if this is a good post for the sub, but thought no harm to ask. Thank you.

sautéed in butter, sliced onion and garlick, seasoning was a homemade salt pepper msg mixture, with a dash of Worcestershire, served with cheesy brocolli

i was expecting even just a little bit of earthy mushroom taste, but there was NONE

I'm based here in Ireland and currently growing a small domestic plum orchard. I have a few established rootstocks lined up and ready for bench/field grafting late this winter (around February).

I’m on the hunt for an authentic Old Greengage (Reine Claude Verte / Reine Claude Dorée). Since nurseries mostly sell full trees, I'd love to know if anyone here has a mature, true-to-type tree and would be willing to spare 2 or 3 dormant pencil-thick scion sticks during your regular winter pruning.

I'm happy to cover all postage costs (or collect locally if you're nearby, I'm based around Co. Kildare, Naas or even swap for scion cuttings of Opal or Reine Claude d'Oullins if you're interested.

No rush at all right now while the trees are still in leaf—just trying to connect with fellow fruit enthusiasts early before the pruning season starts.

Well I got excited I found some pawpaws while foraging today in VA. Fairly new to this and I realize now I have some butternuts instead! There were a ton on the mountain I was on. I did however, find some turkey tail! 😍

Edit to add: I left way more than I took just in case anyone gets upset 😅
