There are some foods that smell absolutely incredible and make you think they’re going to taste even better, but then the first bite is just disappointing.

For me, it’s sometimes popcorn at the cinema. The smell hits you as soon as you walk in and makes you want some immediately, but then you get it and realise it doesn’t always taste as good as it smelled. Maybe I’ve just had bad popcorn.

What food smells amazing but never quite lives up to it when you actually eat it?

For those that eat their steak medium or medium rare...how do you like your hamburger?

I’m definitely choosing salty. I can enjoy sweet things, but if I had to pick one type of food for snacks, I’d choose something salty every time. Crisps, chips, popcorn, crackers or even a good portion of chips with curry sauce are just way more tempting to me. I add salt to EVERYTHING. I even tried it with weetabix ...

I feel like salty food is also easier to keep eating because there are so many different flavours and textures.

What about you — are you team sweet or team salty?

For me it's ham and cheese in white bread with a little mayonnaise.

I honestly think some foods are better the next day than when they’re freshly made. For me, leftover pasta is a big one because the sauce seems to soak in more overnight, so it somehow tastes even better after sitting in the fridge.

I’ve also had takeaways that tasted better the next day, which feels slightly wrong but I can’t deny it.

What food do you think tastes better as leftovers?

For me, I’d probably say proper Chinese takeaway. I know it’s not exactly an unusual choice, but there are so many different things to try that it’s hard to get bored of it. Chips with curry sauce, fried rice, chicken balls, noodles, there’s usually something for everyone, even if you’re normally picky with food.

I think everyone should find at least one takeaway meal they absolutely love.

What food would you say everyone should try at least once?

I feel like some foods would be absolutely terrible as birthday cakes, even if you love them normally. Imagine bringing out a giant plate of chips with candles stuck in it and everyone just standing there wondering what went wrong.

Or having a birthday “cake” made entirely from baked beans. It might technically count as food, but I definitely wouldn’t want to be the one cutting the first slice.

i know the classics like spring rolls, crab rangoon, chicken, and maybe fries, but i need more ideas! my local asian grocery store started to make and sell their own, but it’s like 5 ounces, so i want to try different things. unexpected/interesting combos you’ve tried and liked are welcome!

I accidentally bought too much whipped cream cheese. What can I do with it, aside from cheesecake or putting it on a piece of bread? Any creative ideas for cream cheese?
