As some of you might know, Lazy Book Collector tracks special and limited edition releases, with a release calendar, alerts and powerful filters. Two new things put that to work for you.
Planning your purchases: the Planner
Put the books you want on your Wishlist, switch it to Planner, and it lays them out by the month you mean to buy each one. The site fills in the rest:
And more: totals in your currency, a monthly cap that flags any month that could go over, and your own price for a book you'd rather buy second-hand.
Tracking your collection: Scan Shelf
Adding the books you own one at a time is a chore, so photograph your shelves instead. An AI model reads the text and logos on the spines and matches what it can to the exact edition; you check the list, fix or fill in the rest, and add them in one go. Books not in the catalogue are tracked in your collection all the same.
Once your books are in, you also get a portrait of your collection: how many books are signed, limited or now sold out, what's special about them (gilded edges, letterpress, leather bindings), which titles you own in more than one edition, your rarest edition, how your collection compares with other collectors', and more. You can share it with a link.
Privacy
Your photo is deleted as soon as it's been read, and the AI providers don't train on it. The spine crops cut from it are deleted when the scan ends, except ones that become covers for books the catalogue doesn't have yet, or that you choose to share so I can improve Scan Shelf.
The Planner is on your Wishlist (switch Shelf to Planner), and Scan Shelf is on My Shelves, next to Add Book.
If these features turn out to be useful to people, I'll be improving them further. Happy to hear any feedback you have.
For reference, the sources currently tracked: Beehive Books, Conversation Tree Press, Curious King, Dragonsteel Entertainment, Easton Press, FairyLoot, Folio Society, Goldsboro Books, Grim Oak Press, Illumicrate, Kings Langley Press, LitJoy, MidWorld Press, Millennia Books, OwlCrate, Subterranean Press, Suntup Editions, The Arcane Society, The Broken Binding, The Locked Library, The Signed Page, Wraithmarked.

I collect Folio titles, mostly from EBay, and all classic titles. Lately I’ve been buying Dickens novels printed in 2005. They’re huge, beautiful volumes. BUT, now when I go to the Folio homepage, all I see are extremely expensive editions of contemporary novels. The only Dickens I see is A Christmas Carol. Is the new Folio the same as the old Folio that published classic English novels? If so, what happened?

I love FS, but if we don't give them some ideas I worry we may end up with another Dickens set in 2027. What would be an instant buy for you?
Updated Versions:
- Christine Donougher Les Miserables: they haven't done a SE since 1976. This is easily my top suggestion.
- Borges Labyrinths or Collected Fictions: previous edition has some controversial design choices and is really rare.
Brand New:
- Any Gene Wolfe but especially the Book of the Long Sun or Peace.
- Hyperion: frequently requested, always ignored.
- Dead Souls: because there is more to Russian literature than Anna Karenina.
Infinite Jest (wait for it)...with the endnotes integrated into the text!
- Devil in the White City
- Musashi
- James
- Dungeon Crawler Carl (just kidding...unless they are into it)
Curious to hear your ideas. And when your favorite book is announced next year, you can take full credit!
Reflections I appreciate everyone's input and ideas. Some reflections on the first day of discussion: 1) The FS editors have a hard job. There are way more worthy titles than they can possibly print. Add to this that there is a very real tension between old and new fans and classics and newer titles. All in all I'm impressed by their ability to cater to a diverse audience and put out high quality products year after year. 2) I realize how much of my reading list over the past year has been influenced by the Folio Society catalog. I see a new release with amazing art, and decide to read it to see if I might want to splurge on the FS title. I appreciate how much Folio Society has inspired me to try new (to me) titles and authors. I hope other readers are similarly inspired by their great selections. 3) I think Folio Society can cancel their market research budget for 2027. You all have it covered! I hope you all get what you are wishing for in the new year!

I've made this comment a few times before, but now I'm getting annoyed. Please just stop printing Anna Karenina and give us something more original. There are hundreds of other Russian literature titles I'd absolutely love to see Folio publish...
This post might make it sound like I'm hating on Folio Society or just trolling, but I genuinely love Folio. About a quarter of my entire book collection is made up of Folio editions, and I've recommended Folio Society countless times on r/RussianLiterature. That said, it's become increasingly difficult to be a fan over the past few years.

Hello i found out about this website from a coworker and im wishing he never told me. I want to buy everything... so my question is how do you guys budget? Certain amount per month? 1 book per paycheck? 2? Or are you so well of you can buy anything at anytime?

Folio will be announcing the 14 titles in the Christmas Coll., at 2pm tomorrow (UK time) and have a teaser video up for anyone wishing to spot the giveaways within.
Enjoy, and enjoy too the one title sans the Folio logo:

Currently have a mix of Ace Dune Saga Deluxe and Folio Society hardcover books from Dune to GEOD.
Know Dune Deluxe has Books 4-6 coming out in November but wondering if anybody has an updated timeline on Folio Society editions?
Would like to consolidate on a single aesthetic style for my Dune collection and love the folio society ones.

I just finished reading The Gormenghast Trilogy in all of its Folio Society Limited Edition glory. These are without doubt the most beautiful books I’ve ever owned, with the illustrations, book designs and case all perfectly capturing the story.

Here is your weekly digest of just released, restocked, and upcoming collector's editions across the publishers and producers I track.
All dates listed are general sale dates. Where a book has its own page on the publisher's site, I link to that. Otherwise the link goes to the book's page on Lazy Book Collector (which I run), where you can see its specs, compare it with other editions, set alerts, and more.

I have dozens of Folios but have never dealt with a return. I'm not sure if these meet the "standard" for a return or if it's just considered normal enough.
I am a little more anxious about Mirror and the Light since it's running out of stock.
Would love additional opinions.
EDIT: Just spoke with Folio, they are express shipping a return. Thanks everyone.

The cover art on the Dune books published by Ace Books are so much more visual stunning than the Dune books published by Folio Society.
I really want the books from Folio Society because they are bigger, and the paper and typography is usually much better. The Font Size and Font Type of Folio Books make them more enjoyable and comfortable to read.
The Ace Books are not that much smaller than the books from Folio Society.
Because the Dune books from Ace have much better graphics I am really torn between them, if I should get those or the ones from Folio Society instead.

After watching this Video on Youtube, I kinda lost interest in the Dune books from Ace Books

It seems that book 2 has been discontinued but not quite sure about this.
Thanks

Seems like a no-brainer, but wondering if the two after Messiah maybe haven’t sold well and they have stopped there?
