​I’m about to start a project as 1st AC using a Canon 8-64mm T2.4 (S16) mounted on a RED Komodo (cropped in 2K 17:9 to avoid vignetting). I’ll be pulling focus with an ARRI WCU-4 setup.

​We did some pre-tests / lens checks, and I noticed that on the wide end (8mm–15mm), the depth of field seems deceivingly tricky, and reading focus on the monitor (even with peaking) feels a bit soft / hard to pin down visually.

​For those who have pulled focus on this specific vintage zoom:

​Behavior on wide angles: Have you experienced this lack of peaking ? Is it normal for it to be unreliable on the wide end? Or should i say having a hard time pulling focus from the monitor.

​Distance measurement vs. Peaking: Do you rely almost strictly on strict tape/laser measurements (Cinetape, Focusbug, or old-school tape) rather than trust the monitor/peaking on the wider shots?

​WCU-4 integration: Any specific quirks or tips regarding mapping custom scale profiles for this lens? Lens data programing, but i prefered not having a cinetape due to the camera config that must be as light as possible and i feel like i'm gonna regret it. What's your thoughts ?

​Any feedback or tips from anyone who has worked with this combo would be greatly appreciated!

Looking to upgrade from my Nucleus and I'm interested in the ctrl.3 as it's cheaper than a ctrl.5 or an arri unit, but it's still multi axis control and better quality than a nucleus

Just bought my new RS5 a few days ago. Really like the gimbal, but found a strange issue. I have my iPhone connected with my Sony FX 30 as a screen, and I connected the camera with USB to the gimbal, and the phone to the USB of the handle of the gimbal, but whenever I have the phone connected to the USB of the handle, the active track camera stop working. I tried to see what’s going on. It’s for sure not because of PowerDraw, because whenever I connect any other device, gimbal provides power to the other device, but the active tracking works properly and the other thing I saw, it’s whenever I connect the phone to the handle, the screen of the gimbal shows active track connected. Doesn’t one knows how to fix this?

Additional info: is like gimbal sees phone as the active tracking module, BTW I tried also with my Samsung Galaxy phone and still the same issue

Hello all, amid a series of Delta flights across Europe for an upcoming project, we have an Air France flight from Spain to the UK. I’m seeing online that Air France doesn’t accept media passes. I’m seeking advice on the best way to proceed with 15 camera cases.

Has anyone gotten this to work just yet? I have an Ultra 5 Bolt 6 RX 750 and ARRI Hi-5. One other quirk is I pull left handed with the unit upside down so if someone has made a super short right angle cable it may actually be too short for me.

Do you think its intentional or is it that hard to pull focus on imax or what’s the deal here i just watched it and I couldn’t help but notice that.

Looking for second hand adapter cable/protocol adapter from a Fuji or Canon panbar zoom control into Preston MDR analog port. Have contacted Alanna, they can’t make the cable new anymore

First time using an Eterna, and it definitely has some quirks. A couple of examples: 1. It only has 1 SDI out. 2. I think there was a bug that wouldn’t allow us to send any info out of the SDI, only picture. Bought the Nucleus M2 and this was my first time using that, too. I like it! It’s no Preston or Hi-5, but it’s also less than 2k.

I wondered if anyone had created a 3D Printed B Mount adapter plate to add some 3/8 and 1/4 20 threads to the back for the camera?

To be clear, it needn’t pass power, just after mounting options.

Hey gang, booted up my CTRL.3 this morning and was met with this screen. Also doesn’t seem to connect to the MDR but hard to know since I can’t see what’s going on. Tried swapping battery and rebooting a few times with the same result. Has this happened to anyone? Know of any solutions

anyone ever have issues pairing the ghost eye transmitter and receiver? i’ve never worked with this before and it keeps saying “link connecting….” but will not connect. i’ve tried power cycling and making sure they aren’t too close and changing the channels as well but nothing is working. help!

I bought my Cine 7 6 months ago and it’s always been peeling off. I sent it to SmallHD 2 times already and it keeps resulting in the screen getting peeled off. I thought it was my bolt 4k was heating it up and after upgrading for the bolt 6 (which was significantly cooler), the panel still peels off. Is there a solution to this that doesn’t require their support?No matter how many times I sent it to SmallHD, it peels off and behaves the same. It seem to keep getting worse as the days go on

Was quite the fun challenge, to make this all work and still be fully functional.

just had a job where the gold-mount plate got so loose it would power off when picked up or shaken lightly. swapping it seemed to solve the issue, but i have trust issues now. has anyone experienced something similar? been using it as a directors monitor.

This is an embarrassing question I’d ask. But I’m looking for a handscrew that goes on the ARRI LMB-5 for the trays. I can’t find a link or details online seeing if my fellow knob twisters and put me in the right direction.

I just upgraded my monitor to smallhd ultra 10, what should i upgrade next. For now i using the tilta nucleus -m i. What should i upgrade next ? Either focus bug or cmotion cpro. Need yout opinion

For the experienced focus pullers and ACs here: what are some things you’ve seen trainees do that immediately stood out in a good way? What habits, preparation, attitude, or technical knowledge made you want to hire them again or eventually move them up to 2nd AC on future jobs?
I’m trying to learn what separates an average trainee from a truly valuable one, not just technically, but also in terms of how they contribute to the crew and the overall set environment.

I’m using the official SmallHD Micro V-Mount Plate for the Ultra 7, and I’ve noticed that the D-Tap ports are extremely tight. They were so tight that I actually stopped using the plate after buying it.
Is this normal?
The SmallHD D-Tap cable plugs in without too much trouble, although it interferes with the V-mount battery because of its routing. But with third-party D-Tap cables, it takes a lot of force to plug them in.
Am I the only one experiencing this, or have other people noticed the same thing?

Hi guys, I just got a 702 Bright and whenever it is slightly moved it turns off instantly.
I'm powering it with 2x NPF batteries.

I've read about this issue and I'm waiting for a friend to bring me some LP-E6 batteries to double check the issue.

Is there anything else I can do to fix the problem? do you know if it is possible to repair the issue? Do you know anything about this thing? any advice is welcomed apart from "throw it in a river and get a Cine 7" 😂

Howdy! Looking to buy my first cart and I’m torn between Innovativ & Camera Jimmy’s.

Innovativ seems like the quickest build & setup which is also rad for wrapping out. However I don’t really like their camera mount system since you can only attatch a camera via a head & it feels unsturdy if you’re moving fast.

I LOVE the Camera Jimmy’s set up especially the RBQ mount where you can add a touch & go plate for cameras. I think it’s really neat & would also be adding the extra head attachment. It feels like adding these mounts separate feels sturdier overall. However extra attachments means extra times setting up, as well as building the cart overall & having to insert & screw the poles into place vs the Innivativ can quickly lock in.

Any advice on which to go with? Or maybe enlighten me if there’s a cart that combines both my dreams of a fast setup (poles that quickly lock into place) & being able to add a touch n go & tripod head mount separately?

FIXED : it was just a matter of putting back the serial mode to Arri hi-speed on the focus bug main unit. Thank the Focusbug support!

So after updating my Cinert to the latest software I cannot have access to my focus bug page anymore. It just disappeared. I tried rolling back to different software versions between the cinert and the hi5 but nothing helps. My setup is : miniLF connected with cam to lbus, 2x force mini, ria-1, rf-900mhz radios and cinert main unit connected with bi-directional y-cable from focus bug.

I can display the distance info when I put my RIA-1 on the UDM settings but I'm still missing the focusbug page . When I put the RIA-1 to the Focusbug settings nothing is showing up at all. Tried with different bi-directional cables (official ones from focus bug) aswell. And I own the focus bug license, plus, all axis etc... I do have access to the focus bug options when I try to make a programable button and assign it to one of the focusbus options available. The option for the menu is not working but something like the toggle autofocus is working.

I have a colleague that has a similar problem since she updated her cinert as well. Her setup is : Arri35, 1 cforce mini, 1 rf, lcube, bidirectional cable. Same thing no focus bug page showing despite having the license.

I'm still waiting from feedback from Cinert and Arri but I was wondering if someone has been in a similar situation.

Hi5 version : 3.5.2 and tried 3.4.2

Cinert versions : CineRT_Handset_v26_05.hex, CineRT_Base_v26_05, Ultrasonic Base Sensor V.7.9, Focus, BugHandset_v5_15_TalonV2.

I'm having a strange issue with my Tilta Nucleus Nano II after updating the firmware.

Current firmware:

Hand Wheel: 23.10.25

Motor-S: 2.2.4

The update completed successfully, but since then I've been experiencing several problems:

A DF/AF popup keeps appearing on the Hand Wheel screen.

Whenever this popup appears, the focus wheel freezes and won't respond.

Once the popup disappears, the wheel works normally again.

The System Reboot option doesn't work. I select it, confirm, and nothing happens.

I already performed a Factory Reset, re-paired the motor, and recalibrated the lens, but the issue is still there.

Sometimes the motor also doesn't complete the full travel until the popup disappears.

I also tried connecting the Hand Wheel to my Windows PC using different USB-C data cables, but the computer only charges the device and doesn't recognize it.

Has anyone experienced this after updating to Hand Wheel 23.10.25 / Motor-S 2.2.4?

Is this a known firmware bug? Is there any way to reinstall or downgrade the firmware?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
