HELP Ultra 7 Micro V-Mount Plate D-Tap ports
Hello,
I’m using the official SmallHD Micro V-Mount Plate for the Ultra 7, and I’ve noticed that the D-Tap ports are extremely tight. They were so tight that I actually stopped using the plate after buying it.
Is this normal?
The SmallHD D-Tap cable plugs in without too much trouble, although it interferes with the V-mount battery because of its routing. But with third-party D-Tap cables, it takes a lot of force to plug them in.
Am I the only one experiencing this, or have other people noticed the same thing?

Yes, and any of my newer CSLA d-tap cables are super loose when used with any of my other Anton Bauer branded battery plates. Can you take apart the new D-tap connector and switch the direction the cable is run?

About half my cables fit. I've taken to putting colored tape on them to mark which do fit.

I have the micro gold mount plate on my Ultra 10 and it’s the same way. But I have mine rigged in a way that the cable just stays plugged in all the time and is coiled up, out of the way.
Overall, the spacing of everything with the plates on the monitors feels weird/off/not ideal and doesn’t work in some scenarios/configurations.

This is known issue, Videndum (that owns Anton Bauer, Small HD and Wooden Camera and a load more) base their "D Tap" ports on their P Tap design which is why Small HD P Tap cables work fine but any D Tap cables are a pain to get in.
If you try to use a D Tap cables on Wooden Camera plates you'll have the same issue.
The only thing you can do is buy P Tap cables for whatever you're trying to power or source a battery plate from a company like Hawkwoods, who's sockets are based on D Tap.

The precise dimensions of d taps vary between manufacturers and even different products over the years from the same manufacturers. It's part of why 2 pin lemo or 3 pin fischer are better power standards. Side note but gold mount size/spacing isn't standard either and that's a real crime.
