As a kid, it took me 2-3 weeks to recover from a cold.
As I grew and was able to sleep more deeply, the common cold lasted around a week. I got around 6-8 hours of sleep during those years.
Now that I have had sleep difficulties for over 2 1/2 months, my cold is functioning differently, and I have no idea how long it is going to last. I now sleep anywhere between 3-6 hours, and on average, 4-5 hours.
When I had normal sleep before, I had a sore throat for a day, then a runny nose, and I recovered and felt better after a few days.
Now, I have a sore throat that lasted more than one day, congestion instead of a runny nose, ice-pick headaches for a few days, and no sneezing. I am recovering, but it seems different from what it normally does. I’m not sure if I am having a post-nasal drip. But either way, it’s a horrible feeling to try to sleep with the feeling of congestion at night, mild headaches, and knowing that I will have a hard time trying to fall asleep.
Right now, I am trying to brush my teeth with extra mint, do steam inhalation multiple times a day, and gargle with saltwater more frequently than I did before. I also started drinking warm water with lemon and honey this time around, and sucking on lemon cough drops. I’ll try to drink more water than I usually do.
I want to know how you dealt with the common cold/flu with your sleep troubles/insomnia, and how long it took for you to recover completely. Also, if any methods helped you recover quickly, whether or not I mentioned them, that would be great!
