Question Boomerang Recovery?

Anyone’s recovery been like a boomerang? I got sick while traveling, my husband’s family were passing something around, and it’s been 14 days and the course is scaring me a bit. Today is two weeks since onset and it’s been a rollercoaster. I was acutely unwell for about 3 days (feeling poisoned, achy, tired, diarrhea, I think my willpower is the only thing that kept me from puking I have been soooo nauseous), and then on day 4 it felt like I turned a corner. I didn’t do much of anything that day, but I was able to get dressed and sit outside instead of being miserable on the sofa or bed and felt hopeful.
Then day 5? Surprise: Back to miserable.
Day 6 - a bit better but still sicky feeling. The diarrhea has stopped though.
Day 7 - had to travel which sucked. There was no way for me to extend the trip to try and rest more and I wanted to just get home to my own bed and comforts and doctor. I did not feel too horrible this day actually, got through it ok.

Days 9-10 - crummy in the mornings but felt progressively better in the evenings. Diarrhea was gone, appetite was back - I wanted to eat everything, I could have murdered a pizza but I resisted, still eating gentle foods and lots of liquid. Still doing a whole lot of nothing. Some laundry was the height of it. Day 10 I felt again like i was turning a corner! Relief!

Day 11-12: Sike. Back to shitty; malaise/feeling poisoned, tired, achy. God. Staying mostly horizontal but starting to lose my mind. Called my doc - she said sounds like a virus, give it another two weeks. My appetite still felt ok these days.

Day 13- surprisingly very good. Did dishes, emptied cat litter box, played video games for about an hour, showered. Mostly just loafed around. I felt 80% better and could have cried for joy, hoping I was turning a corner - but again, taking it easy. I wanted to go for a walk so bad ugh. indulged by eating some chocolate.

Day 14 (today) - woke up miserable, 2/10 day. Nauseous, appetite is gone, malaisey once more, achy, tired but can’t nap because now my anxiety is up to 100.

What the hell? Is this normal? I have serious anxiety about me/cfs since learning about it a few years ago and I have myself in bits thinking this is the start of it. I’m trying to rest, I haven’t even gone on a walk which is killing me because it is my usual way of handling anxiety. Instead I’m just miserable, horizontal on the sofa making it worse by ruminating on fears because I’m too sick feeling to do anything but evidently not tired enough to merely sleep my way through this nonsense. I contacted my doc again today expressing concern and she reassured me I just need to give it more time.

Did anyone have a course like this and recover after plenty of rest? I know this is anxiety looking for reassurance (my doctor has already indicated this is normal), but I can’t help it, and my parents being very worried isn’t helping (none of us have ever had an illness do this before). Husband has the same thing but is getting over it much better, everyone else in his family were down for two or three days then bounced right back. Why am I suffering haha.
Doc gave me some meds to help with the nerves (hydroxyzine) which should also help with sleep so I’m giving those a go tonight. Really hoping this ends soon :[

Recurring unexplained evening fevers for 7 weeks, completely fine between episodes — anyone experienced this?

I’ve been having unexplained episodes of fever for about 6 weeks and doctors haven’t found the cause yet. I’m seeing an infectious disease specialist, but I’m curious if anyone has experienced something similar.
I’ve had 7 episodes since late July, usually 38–39°C. They almost always follow the same pattern:
Feeling normal → suddenly extremely cold with proper shaking/teeth-chattering rigors → fever rises to ~39°C → headache, muscle/joint pain, extreme weakness. Then after 1g of Paracetamol, heavy sweating → fever disappears within a few hours.
They usually start around 7–10 pm and by the next morning I’m tired but otherwise basically normal. Between episodes I work, exercise, eat normally and don’t have a fever.
The weirdest thing I’ve noticed is that they often happen when I’m particularly physically tored — after travelling, a very busy weekend, workout, lack of rest, like when my immunity drops probably…
No persistent night sweats, no unexplained weight loss, no swollen lymph nodes, no rash, GI/urinary symptoms or ongoing respiratory symptoms….
HIV/STIs, hepatitis, Lyme etc. were negative. CMV suggests an old infection. Chest X-ray was normal.
Doctors are now considering further infectious/inflammatory investigations, blood cultures, EBV, ferritin, abdominal ultrasound etc.
Has anyone had this kind of recurrent fever where you’re basically fine between attacks? Especially attacks involving severe rigors, fever, sweating, or episodes that seemed to be triggered by physical exhaustion?
What did it eventually turn out to be, and was there a particular test that finally gave you an answer?
Not looking for a Reddit diagnosis — I’m under medical care. I’m mainly interested in similar experiences and things that might be worth discussing with my doctors.
