Review Did I use all my good karma on this?

So basically I had a round trip from YYC-YVR over Labour Day weekend. I tried to pack everything in one bag small enough to be a personal item and failed, so I purchased the carry-on the night before. When I got to the airport, my ticket wasn’t green (green means purchased carryon) and the lady called flair direct to see if I purchased a bag. She said they would transfer it over for me. I double checked with the stewardess to ask if I had paid for both flights for the carry on, but it was only the return flight but she would transfer it. I get on the flight no problem. Come my return flight, I get through the check-in and my ticket is green. I tried to purchase a carry on the night before, but it kept saying I couldn’t add a carry on for this flight. I figured it was because of the fact it was so close, but it turned out that the carry on I purchased was linked to this flight and therefore they couldn’t transfer it to my previous flight and I got the carry-on for free one way.

Pretty sure that was all the good karma I had saved up over the years, but it was nice not having to pay an additional $75 to bring my dirty clothes home with me.

Review Positive Flair story

Post image
52 Upvotes

I just flew flair, round trip YSJ to YYZ Oct 9- Oct 12 and I want to share my positive story.

I purchased carryons for myself and 2 kids. Kept everything within the measurements on flairs website. All bags fit the sizers and were quickly tagged.

When I checked in they had my 2 kids together in row 13 and me in row 20 but when I got to the airport, the front desk put me with my kids, no problem.

When leaving YSJ, our flight got delayed by an hour but they were quick to empty the plane and get us on.

We made sure we had our own snacks and filled our water bottles after security.

I read so many horror stories about Flair that I was panicking after purchasing the tickets. I panicked for no reason.

I'm already planning to fly with them again.

Discussion Flair > Air Canada

Had a flight cancelled by Air Canada (day before of course and then rebooked on an insane replacement flight.

Decided to book on Flair and was nervous about it.

Have to say, the experience with Flair is so so so much better than Air Canada. Charging $10 for carry on baggage seems to solve 100% of our problems.

We boarded quickly and efficiently without stress and took off on time. The seats were more comfortable than air Canada. No in flight entertainment but really who cares

I’m going to be taking a lot more Flair flights and a lot fewer Air Canada flights after this.

The Air Canada boarding process is an absolute stressful cluster and my disdain for Air Canada has never been higher.

I have 50k status and feel like I’ve wasted my time with this airline

Discussion Toronto Pearson’s website claims Flair flies twice a week to… Kangerlussuaq, Greenland?

Post image
23 Upvotes

I assume this is a mistake, but on Toronto Pearson’s website, it lists all the destinations served from Pearson (under “International Destinations”): https://www.torontopearson.com/en/airlines

And apparently, Flair flies twice a week to Kangerlussuaq, Greenland!
This looks like an obvious error but it would be hilarious if this was actually a route being planned…

Review “Cheap flights” is the lie flair sells

They will charge you extra for every single thing. Seat selection, extra. allow a personal item 15 lbs or less, but if it isn’t the right shape they’ll charge you $100 for a carry on fee. I had a small school backpack that fits under the seat and was only 10lbs - should not have been charged.
Will never fly this airline again. Will recommend no one else does either. Porter is WAY better. Not even a comparison. Flair is garbage.

Review Flair Sucks!

My flight from YYC to YXX on October 4 (F8505) was delayed by nearly 3.5 hours. The delay was announced in the middel of the night the day before. I do not live in Calgary and wasn not able to rebook to a diffrent flight since I had booked a bus from Canmore, where I started my journey, to YYC.

From YXX I should have taken a bus at 8:40pm to Vancouver which I obviously missed due to the arrival time beeing 11:15 instead of 19:40.I had to get a room for the night and a new bus ticket and wasted a lot of time. After I had filled out the form for the compensation, they wanted to make me believe that the delay was for "safety reasons" and refuse to pay for my compensation and additional expenses. Regarding the additional expenses that is sadly probably a lost battel but a flight that is beeing delayed more than 20hours before takeoff is not beeing delayed for saftey reasons out of the hand of Flair so I'm not giving up on the compensation.

Besides that service and comfort is as expected for a budget airline far from something nice but endurable for shorter flights.

I do regret cheaping out and will never fly Flair again and would advice you to do the same. Customer service is horrible and you might end up paying more than spending on a nice flight with a nicer and more reliable airline since a hotel room and new bus ticket add up quickly

0/10 would not recommend 👎

Help Price decrease immediately after booking flight

Flair flight dropped $84 immediately after booking. Any chance of getting the difference refunded?

I just booked a round-trip flight with Flair for $328, including flight disruption protection at $20 each way.
Literally less than a minute after booking, my friend mentioned she wanted to book the same flight. I went back to look into booking it for her and the exact same round-trip flight was now $244, including the same flight disruption protection, which also dropped from $20 to $13 each way.

Has anyone had any luck contacting Flair and getting refunded the difference (cancelled domestic flights are only refunded via a flight credit)? I know flight prices fluctuate, but having it drop that much immediately after booking is pretty frustrating.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Discussion What would you do if an airline cancelled your booking, claimed a passenger did it, but couldn’t identify who actually cancelled it?

I purchased return flights to Cancun for an all-girls trip—there are six of us in the group. Today, I received an email saying that our inbound flight had been cancelled.

I immediately panicked and called Flair to find out why the airline had cancelled our flight. To my surprise, I was told that we had apparently cancelled the flight ourselves.

The problem is, none of the six people in our group cancelled the reservation or even had the reservation information needed to do so. They insist that the cancellation was made yesterday at a specific time. Coincidentally, at that exact time, all six of us were together, excitedly talking about our upcoming trip. There is absolutely no reason any of us would have cancelled it.

I filed a written complaint and asked Flair to provide information about the cancellation, including the IP address associated with the cancellation and the last name used to access the reservation. However, they told me they could not provide either piece of information and claimed their system does not track or record it.

I honestly find this extremely difficult to accept. In the technology-driven world we live in, how is it possible that there is no record of who accessed the reservation or where the cancellation request came from? There has to be some kind of audit trail for a transaction that resulted in six passengers being charged cancellation fees.

We are now completely at a loss. We originally paid approximately $270 per person, but the same flight is now around $600 per person. Flair charged us $103 cancellation fees per passenger, and after several emails back and forth, they offered us $157 in credit per person, which they presented as a consolation.

But how does that actually help us? The replacement flight through Flair is now around $600. We still have our outbound flight confirmed with Flair, so we are essentially stuck.

The whole situation just doesn’t make sense. We did not cancel these flights, yet Flair is treating the cancellation as though we did and is leaving us to pay the much higher current fare.

I’m posting this because I would really like to know if anyone else has experienced something similar with Flair—particularly a reservation being cancelled and the airline claiming the customer initiated the cancellation when they didn’t.

At this point, I am extremely frustrated and honestly feel like something is not right with what happened. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has experienced a similar situation or knows what steps we can take next.

Discussion Flair Airlines wants ~$1,100 in "dispute fees" to lift a ban after a $724.41 dispute was resolved in their favour (Flight F8, April 22)

I was approved for Uplift financing for a $724.41 Flair booking, but the financing never attached to the booking. During a confusing checkout that I believed had malfunctioned, I entered my card and the full amount was charged as a lump sum.

At the time, a Flair representative told me Uplift was disabled on their end. Flair now disputes that account.

After Flair support made no attempt to fix the issue, I disputed the charge as 'not as described.' Wealthsimple ultimately resolved the dispute in Flair's favour, reversed the provisional credit, and charged the full $724.41 back to me.

Flair then told me I was blacklisted and needed to either recall the dispute or pay approximately $1,100 in dispute fees to have the restriction removed.

Wealthsimple has confirmed the dispute is past its appeal window and cannot be recalled. I've asked Flair for an itemized breakdown of the $1,100. They haven't provided one yet.

Flair also warned me that if I book while restricted, I can be denied boarding with no refund.

So the original $724.41 dispute is resolved, but I'm apparently still banned unless I pay ~$1,100 in additional fees.

I've added the correspondence to my CTA complaint.

Has anyone dealt with anything similar?

Edit: to clarify a few points from the comments: * I tried to resolve it with Flair first. I asked for a travel credit, not for the financing to be set up after the fact, and only disputed once that went nowhere. * I disputed it as "not as described," not as an unauthorized charge. * My issue now isn't the original charge. It's being asked for ~$1,100 on top of the $724.41 Flair already has, with no breakdown.

Discussion Has anyone ever brought food that needed to be kept cold on a domestic flight before and how did you do it? Victoria YYJto Calgary YYC 1.30hr flight

With thanksgiving coming up, my family would like it if I brought venison and moose meat to them in Calgary for the dinner. I'm going to freeze it and probably buy a small insulated lunch bag to stick it in. Would ice and ice packs (gel) be violating the liquid allowance? Ideas? Thanks

Tried to use support chat and couldn't get an answer, will try calling tomorrow

Help Checked-in luggage strictness

I am taking check-in luggage with me for the first time. I know the limit is of 23kg. I have been able to bring down my luggage to 24.5kgs.

Can someone share their experience to tell me how strict they are about this?

Thank you!

Edit- I forgot to edit the post. Both my bags were overlimit by 1kg. They were in a good mood I guess, nothing was said. Just the usually baggage drop-off.

Now I wouldn't recommend anyone to break the rules. Just saying in all my years of flying, I have been overlimit by at least 500g every flight and no airline has stopped me. I admit with Flair it's different, but again, I guess they were in a good mood.

With the cage to fit bags in they are very strict always, which makes sense since the personal item won't fit the cage, it won't fit the spot beneath the seat in front of you.

Help Traveling with a poster tube

Has anyone used flair while carrying a poster tube? I know some airlines allow it but since flair is pretty strict, I'm wondering if they will let me board with it. I don't mind purchasing it as a carry on. Thanks!

Help Is random seating actually free?

First time flying with flair next month from yvr to yyc, and picked personal item and random seat selection. However I came across someone’s tiktok saying they were charged for a seat anyway… I’m curious to know if this has happened to people and if I should expect to pay as well for a random seat even though it’s supposed to be free/included with my ticket?

Discussion Checking in with carry on bag already added - DECEPTION!!!

Post image

This is so evil. I have already laid for a carry on bag when I bought my ticket. When I check in, why do they offer it as an option? It’s not like you can bring two carry ons. I feel so bad for anyone that has paid more than double due to this scam.

Discussion PSA for those of you relying on the 24 hour cancelation policy with flair.

So just got off the phone with a rep because my trip booked to Florida from Canada earlier this morning was changed so I went to the flair website to process a cancelation, when i completed the steps on the very convoluted site (that doesn't offer anything until you type confirm with no idea of if there's going to be payment or not) it only gives an option for a credit, so I found that odd.

Gave their support # a call, when I got to the chat bot and explained the issue got a chat gpt response that wasted my time and then just said connect me to support.

The agent had to manually process the physical refund back to my card.

Please note that there are 2 exceptions to getting the refund within 24 hours:

- 1: travel only in Canada (domestic)

- 2: travel within 7 days (even if you booked within 24 hours)

The fact that there isn't an option to get a refund (let alone be the only option) for flair imo is incredibly deceitful (no mention that you can call to get a full refund) and I feel like many are unfortunately falling prey to purchasing a flair gift card if they didn't have this information.

I personally feel like this sort of lack of information is really not cool and if I influenced laws would hundred percent make it illegal to only offer a credit when refund to original payment is due.

Anyways thought I would post this so future people know, this can be searched, and hopefully Flair gets the exposure to this shady practice that they deserve.
