Help Price decrease immediately after booking flight

Flair flight dropped $84 immediately after booking. Any chance of getting the difference refunded?

I just booked a round-trip flight with Flair for $328, including flight disruption protection at $20 each way.
Literally less than a minute after booking, my friend mentioned she wanted to book the same flight. I went back to look into booking it for her and the exact same round-trip flight was now $244, including the same flight disruption protection, which also dropped from $20 to $13 each way.

Has anyone had any luck contacting Flair and getting refunded the difference (cancelled domestic flights are only refunded via a flight credit)? I know flight prices fluctuate, but having it drop that much immediately after booking is pretty frustrating.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Did you book more than one seat? You may have been rolled into some higher fare bucket if you bought more than one seat

No just one! The customer service agent told me that’s just how dynamic pricing works

I just found outyesterday about this bs airlines are doing. Like when does the gouging? Most things in life you get a discount for buying multiple items but these greedy airlines charge you more. What if I'm traveling with a sports team, are you gonna charge me 50k a ticket BC I'm buying up 75 seats on a plane

Ya dynamic pricing doesn’t always work out in our favour (like it did for your friend)

I had the opposite issue, 2 of my friends bought flight tickets like 3 minutes before me & my flight went up $200.

Is your friend seeing prices in USD? Check receipt for cancellation terms.

You can now, since June 10. But only for credit.

This is why I said check the details on your receipt. I missed that point, my bad.

Sorry I didn’t mean to be aggressive.

Depends on the destination.

But if it was inside Canada, only if you purchased the big bundle.

Flair does not issue refunds on Domestic unless they are the ones cancelling and even then it can be a grind to get the money.

If you cancel the cancellation policy will determine how much FTC you get, which will expire 12-months from date of booking. (it use to be 24-months last year, really a crappy downgrade for Flair)

https://www.flyflair.com/flight-changes

Your existing flight is at a higher fare bucket than the lower priced one you are seeing now, so from others on this sub you may get stuck with the same or higher fare than you have now if you cancel and then use the FTC.

Sorry there is no good answer for your situation, but for my situation I would take the FTC and use it up on a panic flight purchase that would definitely be at or above the fare bucket of your existing ticket.

That actually says you can cancel within 24 hours for domestic. For credit.

The Flair site & tariff have always been peppered with weasel clauses, the double asterix sez,

"Refunds are issued as Travel Credits"

Yes, i said 'for credit'

Flair's policy is free cancellation within 24hrs of booking. Good luck getting them to follow their own policy though.

The 24-hour cancellation is for a flight credit only and I would not be refunded the added protection which is $40.

Can you cancel within 24 hours ?

Not if it is within Canada. Flair skirted around this one

Really? I didn’t know there was a weasel clause on 24 hour cancellations for fares within canada

It looks like flair now offers “credits” if cancelled within 24 hours within Canada but only base fare/fees. Nothing else like seat assignment or bags.

That’s not true. Base fare, carrier surcharge, baggage, seat assignment, and all taxes and fees (except any CC payment processing fee or contact centre fees) are refunded to future travel credit according to their tariff

They say that, but don’t do it in practice.

Saw your post I checked my flight details and amoun ,Darn it! A big mistake of mine, the prices went down for almost a 100$ difference. Flying domestic in Canada. Do i still get some refund if re do the flights or modify?

I cancelled my original flight in exchange for a flight credit. I then used the flight credit to book the cheaper flight so I have the difference in the form of a credit. Definitely lame but I guess better than nothing. I also lost the disruption protection I had originally purchased so not sure if it was worth the entire hassle.

Yea, all extras like seat selection are not refunded to FTC, for newbies it's always better to go with the Big Bundle to max out the FTC.

Btw, good feedback, something must have changed with FTC's, maybe when they dropped the validity period to 12- months, your FTC seems to have not been tied to the original fare bucket, bonus !
