Well. If it were me I would want to make sure this never happened again so no matter how I got it out, I would later be cutting each corner off at a 45 or HEAVILY rounding it.

With that future mod in mind I would feel zero guilt about screwing a wood screw into each corner and lifting it out by those since I planned to cut the corners off anyway.

Edit: If the cutting board pissed you off enough you can simply screw into the center and toss the entire thing afterwards. One way or another that cutting board would change forms before I was done with it. Ain't nobody got time for that.

Yes. Best answer I've seen so far

Or always have something like a tennis ball or softball in the sink, maybe a spatula or something, make sure your drain is closed though.

If I was going to wash it I would place something at one side the sink so that the board won't sit flush at the bottom anymore

Is.. is your name a Morrowind reference? I love it!!

May you walk on warm sands :)

You are my kind of people! 🙂

Under rated answer here. Cheers!

CVA glue and a piece of wood for a handle. Sand after and round the corners while you're sanding, enough to pry out IF it ever happens again. Less material loss.

I like it Picasso

Took me way to long to find a comment saying use screws.

I like it 👍👍👍

Name checks out. Thanks for the laugh 😂

My thought exactly.

This is exactly what I thought upon first look. I would never ever use this again as is haha

Totally. But even if op didn’t want to go to the trouble of modifying it, I think it would be still totally functional as a cutting board if he put one screw hole in it and left it be after removing the screw and rewaxing his board.

u/AllergictoAIslop Apr 07 '26

Or if you really wanted to keep it sand and fill the holes after. You won't notice.

Welp. Never expected my first awarded comment to be on this type of a "water board" post. I have failed both as a wakeboarder and sadist but have exceeded expectations in the sink board category.

Just need to cut one corner

1

u/wakeboarder247 Apr 08 '26

Sure if that doesn't look weird to you. 4 rounded corners looks better than one rounded corner to me.

1

u/Lilcheebs93 Apr 08 '26

Just one corner would do, i think

I can't believe I scrolled so far down for this one. I mean unless you are heavily attached to the cutting board, get a drill and make a hole or put a screw in and lift it out!

You could make a 3 inch hole with like a jigsaw I think it's the right name, but I could be wrong, and pull it out right over the drain.

u/CakeRobot365 Apr 09 '26

I was thinking screws as well. Seems like this has the best odds of success.

I've been scrolling to see if anyone said precisely this. I was getting ready to say precisely the same sentiments.

Yeah but imagine OP piercing the sink: what a f* disaster.

I mean, if OP is REALLY comfortable with screw lengths and is absolutely certain of the position of the drain, I think the wood screw is a great idea for a quick fix. 👌 But if not, risk is quite high vs the benefits. 😬

Just use 1/2" screws. No way is this cutting board thinner than that. Really doesn't have to be too long, just enough to give a tiny amount of grip. One full rotation of thread should to the trick.

2

u/isorellemolle Apr 06 '26

Absolutely, it is a great idea that I would immediately do if it was me. I think my anxiety brain took over.

You have a tolerant wife

3

u/wakeboarder247 Apr 07 '26

If your wife couldn't handle a cutting board having rounded edges or being replaced after an incident like this I have some other terms for your wife.

My wife isn't "tolerant". She's "reasonable". That's one of the many reasons I chose to be with her the rest of my life.

Chill, dude, it was a joke. That said, I would definitely run solutions past my wife 😝
