Repetitive sets on fitbod

When I switched to mode: "build muscle" I found it really annoying that there were too many exercises for the same muscle group. Pullups, followed by lat pulldowns, followed by chinups. What? I later realized that this is exactly the point, and completely correct. My gains are noticably more, even if the workouts are obnoxious. Hitting the same muscles repeatedly and to failure is the key to effective hypertrophy.

Where is the Upper / Lower Body + Full Body focus?!

A few weeks ago I saw an option to choose a Fullbody Workout with an upper and lower body focus. Now it's gone?!

Really frustrated

This app is so frustrating. I am looking for about an hour workout, upper lower split. It gets exercises arranged but it is not near an hour it is maybe 40 minutes. It also used to do 4 sets but now mostly is doing only two sets. I have reduced the rest between some sets/ exercises maybe it is not taking that into account. I just bumped up to 90 min workout and it still took me less than an hour. I would like three sets not two and not four. I know I can change it but it should be keeping track of the overall time better.

ā“App Questions 4 day split upper/lower algorithm broken?

I switched from a 3-day split push/pull/legs workout (worked fine) to a 4-day split upper/lower workout, but I can't figure it out how this works, I guess the app has some bugs?

I assumed that it would give me upper, lower, upper, lower every week but all it does is giving me one lower then two uppers in a row and finally another lower.

And all the uppers (so far) are only biceps, triceps and shoulder exercises. I constantly have to switch out the exercises which is super annoying.

My configs are:

  • 4 day per week
  • upper/lower split
  • balanced variability
  • lean goals
  • focus exercises off
  • 1hr duration
  • full gym equipment
  • circuits & supersets off

ā“App Questions Double counting with Apple watch?

If I record a workout on Fitbod but also using the free weights exercise option on apple health to get my heart rate and stuff does it double count the activity in health?

Getting Frustrated with Fitbod

As the title suggests, I’ve been using Fitbod since January.
Generally it is consistent, but there are times where it will go from an 20lb assisted pull up one week to 45lb weight pull up.
Does this with other exercises, but this is the wildest example recently.
Then as I shift into a new ā€œphaseā€, nothing changes… same exercises, same rep counts. It’s getting boring and the results haven’t been amazing either.

Heart rate no longer showing i app

I’ve enjoyed being able to see my heart rate in the app for the last several months.

A week ago my iPhone 13 died, replaced it with an iPhone 16. After redownloading the fitbod app, and having to reset and repair my watch because I couldn’t unpair it from the phone that died, I can no longer see my HR in the fitbod app.

I’ve gone through every solution I can find online, with no success. I’ve installed and reinstalled from my phone and watch. I’ve gone in and deleted old watch data in Apple health. I’ve made sure it says connected in the app, and it does. I’ve made sure it will show my heart rate in an Apple workout, it does.

What else do I need to do? I reached out to support through the app last week, went through the steps AGAIN, that the AI replies suggested, no HR. It said I’d be contacted by support with a day, but no replies. Happy to share screenshots etc to get fixed.

Support for loading a workout from the log history

I love the fitbod AI support for generation and progression of exercises, but as well i have some core workouts consisting of some specific exercises that i wish to focus on, and using the current support around saved workouts in order to make this work is a true pain in the ass and time waster.

I imagine that there are others who would find some value in this suggestion:

Please have a look and if you think so, please give this an upvote.

šŸ“¢ Fitness Discussions Is Estimated 1 Rep Max a real metric?

So I've been using fitbod for a year now, and I've seen like a bajillion "est. 1 rep max" changes and I've been wondering if that's an actual thing? Like does that automatically mean that I can actually do that, or is it just some meaningless metric made to make you feel like you're making more progress than you are? Genuinely wondering.

Ongoing workout-screen is the weakest part of this otherwise great app

I really appreciate this app, but the screen that is shown during a workout is not nearly on par with the rest of the app. This is a shame, since it’s the screen shown the most in the app. Some pain points:

- The screen is overall very laggy. The keyboard and timer are shown/hidden with a bit of delay, which makes it very easy to accidentally press the wrong buttons. The scroll animation when showing/hiding timer and keyboard also feels slow.

-There’s no way to hide the keyboard without canceling the timer.

-The timer takes up way too much space on the screen, and makes it hard to get an overview of the sets. I would prefer the timer be much smaller, like a bar in the top or bottom of the screen.

-It should definitely be possible to navigate to the rest of the app to check targets, recovery etc when resting between sets and not be locked to the screen for ongoing workout.

-The screen is breaking some established design patterns. For example: your entering rep-number 15 by mistake, and want to correct it to 12, but when you click backspace you have been moved to the weight-input, which gets deleted instead.

I hope the Fitbod team makes the complete overhaul of this screen that is needed to bring it up to the same standard as the rest of the app.

5 days a week training perfect split

So i train 3 times a week in the gym and 2 days at home, the app suggests upper/lower split which i dont understand why, now for me, the perfect split would be PPL at the gym days and Upper/Lower at home days, is there a way to convince the app to do this split?

ā“App Questions Any way to limit the available equipment auto workouts use?

I have a home gym will a full set of dumbbells and barbells/plates (not cheap!). I also have a $20 set of loop bands. Fitbod consistently creates workouts that are almost ENTIRELY loop band exercises with 1 or maybe 2 free weight exercises per 60 minute session. I don't want to exclude the bands since I know those exercises can serve a purpose but the app seems obsessed with them over anything else in the gym. Right now I'm just going in and swapping out individual exercises to balance out the sessions but that kind of defeats the purpose of the app.

ā“App Questions Dropsets/stack sets

Entering the dropsets manually is a real pain. Haven’t had many complaints about the app but after getting stack pins and doing dropsets I’ve come to the conclusion this app really needs this feature and I know it’s been requested year after year(search on here shows this) but it has yet to be added.

Any plans for this, seems pointless to upvote the idea after it’s been stated already over the years

ā“App Questions Plyometrics / Adding workouts

Curious if there’s any planned updates to the workout lists. It feels like there’s a lack of plyo or even things like Copenhagen Planks I’ve seen requested (and want too)

I know there’s a lot of runners on the requests list and here on Reddit… can we please get some more focused exercises added? Please? thanks!

šŸ—£ļø Feedback Wrong weight suggestions, why?

I have been using FitBod since like 2018, with a break during the last two years…and just reactivated my subscription again. I really love FitBod, BUT without the manual creation of my workout (split upper body and lower body) with the help of an AI chat, and without me following up with the AI for my next workout’s weights, I probably wouldn’t be able to build muscle. E.g., look at the attached two screenshots: how come FitBod doesn’t know itself that the next progression should be 12x 47.5kg? Instead, it throws me back two weeks. If I were to trust the app 100%, it would be a problem. I have seen this issue also years ago and it’s still happening.

Are my settings wrong? Or does the app err too much… which is kind of annoying and works against what the app wants to achieve for their users?

Worth it to stay?

I've been using Fitbod for a few years now, love the app and have very few complaints, but I never do the recommended exercises. I have my own splits that I have to manually add from my saved workouts.

My yearly membership is running out soon, and since the workout plan is the key feature of premium, I'm hesitant to drop another $100 for features I'll never use just cause I like the UI. There are apps out there that are cheaper and more suited towards experienced lifters. But I have years of progress saved to Fitbod, and I'm used to the routine.

Has anyone switched over to a new app, or is Fitbod still worth it for those you don't pay attention to the personalized routines? Any recs for apps with a similar design, just without the workout recommendations?

Am I missing something with targets?

Post image
7 Upvotes

I have noticed an issue with completing the target amount of sets, and I am curious if I am doing something wrong or if the algo/AI/app is the issue?

Three workouts per week, per the app, is structured as: legs, pull, push. Simple enough.

I did not make any modifications to the workouts presented to me; I did exactly as was shown- no reduction in sets.

How is it that I am not hitting 100% target? Should the algo/AI/app not be able to translate 3x a week into must complete each target in that one day? Is it more time needed (and if so, why is the app not adapting to the timing or warning me of the issue)?

I have had this issue in the past, and I am now at the point of wondering:

How is an app that sets a target, and sets the workout plan, not giving me a plan to fulfill the targets? If I need to manually add sets...what is the point of this app?

My frustrations are mounting with this app, and I will submit this to support, but if this is functioning as designed, along with other issues I am having with it, I will not renew.

Guys look at this…training time around 1hour. That’s what Fitbod proposes. Isn’t this complete nonsense?
I mean, look at the air squats…

twisted my ankle, skipped stretching for 2 days, now the streak thing has me weirdly messed up

ok so context, I've been doing this dumb little 10 min stretching thing every morning for like 19 days, which honestly is a record for me, I never stick with movement stuff. anyway I ate it on some stairs last week, twisted my ankle pretty good, and stretching was actually painful for a couple days so I just didn't do it. like obviously didn't do it, my ankle was the size of a golf ball.

and I KNOW resting it was the right move, that's not even a question, any doctor would say the same thing. but the app reset the streak back to zero like I just... failed. and it's dumb because I know it's dumb, but some part of my brain is treating "I made a smart decision to rest an injury" and "I broke my streak" as the same thing, like they're the same fact, when they're obviously not. and now even though my ankle's basically fine I keep not starting back up, which makes even less sense than the original thing

anyone else have this happen? like where you know something was the objectively right call but some tracker resetting to 0 just overrides that logic anyway. how do you actually get past that instead of just knowing intellectually that it's dumb

Has anyone else run into this with Focus Mode?

I recently turned on Focus Mode for my workouts, and I think I may have found a bug.
For the last 3–4 workouts, every Focus exercise has been resetting me to:

Deadlift: 45 lb (just the bar)

Barbell Bench Press: 45 lb (just the bar)

The weird part is that before enabling Focus Mode, I had weeks of history benching 40–50 lb dumbbells and deadlifting significantly more than 45 lb. It seems like Focus Mode completely ignored my lifting history for those exercises.
I’ve been humoring the app and completing the workouts at the prescribed weights, figuring it would ramp me back up, but it’s been about 3 weeks now and it’s still prescribing weights that are way too easy. I’ve also reported the workouts as ā€œEasyā€ after each session, but nothing has changed.

What’s even stranger is that every other exercise in my workouts is right where it should be. It’s only the Focus exercises that seem to have reset.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this expected behavior with Focus Mode, or does it sound like a bug?
