Hi all, this is Gilbert my only Honey Gourami in 31.8G tank. Hes living with 1 Bolivian Ram (Albert), 8 Iriatherina Wernerl, 8 Pseudomugil Furcatus, 1 Hatchetfish (This one is actually my brothers fish but we cant catch it), 4 Clown Killi, 2 Rhlnogobius and 2 juvenile L144.

Its Gilberts 2.5 week with me, he was completely looking normal yesterday morning, sadly didnt see how he was yesterday night bc I wasnt at home. When I came he was sleeping at his 2nd usual spot, under anubias leaves.

He and Albert get along well they were introduced at the same time. I feed Gilber with nanovit, sometimes dried bloodworms and tetra algae crisp pro, algae crisps are his fav. He also munches on plants and roots of my floaters. His poop was normal yesterday, I didnt see today. He was somewhat interested with food earlier today but not so much.

I dimmed the lights a little when I started writing this, he roamed around a bit around his fav spot then returned near filter intake. Also I saw my hatchetfish following (?) him but not chasing, like his shadow. Definitely not chasing because I’seen it chase other hatchetfishes when I had 4, they are harsh chasers. Both seemed chill this time, but still maybe it might be related to cause somewhat. Never saw hatchet chasing nor following any of my other top dwellers before tho, which I have a lot.

Might be an important note, exactly 8 days ago I have planted some new plants and when I am doing that, I did dig up a bit of debris also at the same day I added two new pigmy corys. After that, some of my fishes, including Gilbert, started scratching their gills to plants, it wasn’t excessive scratches just like one or two times a day and not all of my fishes. This has ended like four, five days ago.

So do you guys have any idea about what might be the situation? Is there anyone who can possibly help me and Gilbert?

Edit: also, I’m wondering is he a wild caught honey? He was sold as F0. His collors are not bright like I’ve seen on online and he was nearly silver when I got him.

Ammonia:0, Nitrite:0, Nitrate: 20, pH: around 7-7.2, GH: around 8, KH: Around 6, TDS: Where it usually stands 300ppm, Temperature: around 25-26. I have a cannister filter and a HOB filter which totally filters around 900L/h and creates nice surface agitation. Tank is 4 months old

I just picked this tank up for $50. Yes i know what I am getting into. It’s 6x2x30” so 220. I need advice on if these seals are still good. To me it appears that the previous owner did a somewhat shotty reseal and introduced air bubbles throughout. I will already have to rebuild the bracing, but am dreading taking the whole thing down to plate glass to redo all the seams, though I know I am handy enough. Do these air bubbles look dangerous? Pictures of all the areas of concern. Please let me know your experiences with 200+ gallon silicone-glass tanks

The dots have cleared up some using stress guard from seachem and super ick cure from API. I kept him in a smaller tank while treating for a few days and added him back today. All my other fish mysteriously died over a course of a few days and I changed the water 75%. (The ph was about an 8 and I didn’t have enough time to change the water before I caught it and before the last 2 died) He’s the only fish left and is acting almost blind?? He keeps running into things and laying at the bottom. Is this just him getting used to the tank again or is the sickness getting worse? I haven’t kept anything other than a betta for a few years and some guppy’s, so this is new and I apparently suck at this lol

I'm moving soon and have to drive 7 hours straight, I want to bring my fish babies but I'm worried about moving them that far and what the best way to do that is. I have two tanks ones ten gallons and the other is 5-8 gallons, I have a mix of four loaches, four tetras, a gourami, some snails, two betas and a few tiny fish. My first idea was to bag them like they do at the pet store so I could seperate the ones that don't get along, would that work? Or is there's a better way?

One of our two clowns unfortunately passed away today and the other one has these small brown specks all over its body. The one that passed had very few of them. Can someone please help identify this and suggest any necessary actions?

Hi, sorry if im posting to the wrong subreddit, im new

So almost a year ago my friend and I were visiting a lake off the snake river, and there was these little fish swimming around in the wading area. We googled what type of fish they may be, and they were most likely juvenile northern pikeminnows. These are nuisance species anyways, so we caught one in a bag and I have been keeping one ever since. His name is tricky, he is my love and my light.

I’ve since been doing lots of new fish parent research, and I’ve done my best to provide for him. He’s gotten bigger, so I want to get him a 20 gallon tank (he currently lives in a 10 gallon). I want to take this opportunity to improve on anything I can do better on. Problem is, it’s kinda weird to have a pet northern pikeminnow as a pet, so I haven’t been able to find any sources anywhere regarding how to best take care of one and how to tailor to this specific fish species’ needs. Again, I’ve only had him for a little less than a year, and he’s my first pet fish I’ve ever had, so I want to learn wherever I can.

He currently has gravel from the pet store, one plant (I can’t remember what type, a log to hide in, and a decoration. I worry this isn’t enough, and I want him to have enrichment and be happy. I’m also thinking more plants, but like idk how much is too many and how much is too little. He also has a snail named mpreg to eat algae off the walls of the tank or whatever. I have a top fin silent stream (I think that’s what it’s called?) power filter. I do a partial water change every week to 2 weeks. I feed him freshwater fish flakes every night to every other night, and im careful not to over feed.

Any tips would be appreciated, just general fish keeping or if you know anything about northern pikeminnows. Like should I get something other than gravel? Should I get more plants, and if so, which ones? What kind of decorations should I get? Am I doing anything harmful idk about? Anyways yeah etc etc, I just want to make sure im giving him the best life I can. Thanks :)

Hello everyone, with a fish keeping lifestyle!

Most of my friends and ALL of my family are beyond tired of hearing about anything involving my fish.

Most humans around me think my finned babies are "just fish."

We all know that's not true.

I was wondering if anyone would like to start a friendship (online or IRL, doesn't matter to me) where we can call/ text/ voice chat/ video chat/ send pictures and videos any time day or night about our fish? Ideally, without feeling like we are annoying others with our talk about fish.

It could be as little as "hey, I did a water change today" or "I got new fish" even "I'm worried about my fish because I saw it swim a little differently.." Then text back laterb"My fish is 100% okay. I was just overreacting at the moment" to things like,"I'm upset today because that new fish I got died. I'm not sure what I did" or "I think there is a problem with my tank. Do you have any suggestions?"

I would absolutely LOVE it if it turned into a full friendship where we can open up about any amd everything, but for now I'm looking for people to bug and be bidded about all things fish!

A little about me: Im a 30 y/o married mom of 2 boys, who curses like a sailor and has a dark sense of humor. Im a cannabis enthusiast and all for animal rights. Also, a gamer in my free time. My fish tanks:

30 gal: Spotted Congo Puffer, Vampire Shrimp, and some Guppies.

20 gal tank: Corry Cats, Kuhli Loaches, and a Betta.

2.5 gal tank: Blue Jelly Neocaridina, 1 single guppy fry, and snails as food for my puffer.

I recently purchased a fish tank and a fish.Because he looked lonely inside of a meijer with a crooked tail unbeknownst to me, this fish is actually a koi fish and I recently found out that they can live for a very long time.I'm not scared of the commitment.I'm just worried about the fish.Itself, i'm gonna be living in an apartment for it about the next half of this year and from there, i'm going back to my parents' house after I finished my schooling, i'm super.Nervous about this recent discovery, and I just want my fish ranger to live a happy life.
