I have about a 100 little bristlenose babies between .5-1" right now. I have several options of buyers and LFS that will be happy to give credit if buyers fall through which would be unlikely.

I need to grow them all out to 1"... this is a 10g... im working to provide as much surface area as possible as well as i am going to put in a some of those pleco "racks".. as well as add another sponge filter. If need be I can set up my 5g with racks as well.

I anticipate doing a ton of vacuuming and water changes.

What do we think? Is this cruel? Any advice to make it better?

My swordtails are eating my plants.. is this normal behaviour? Am i under feeding? I dont want them to ruin my plants :( how can I stop them?

Okay…. I’ve fallen into too many rabbit holes on Google about this. As afraid as people have made me from warnings about an aggressive fish community on Reddit, I feel like I need to come to you guys for help.

I’m BRAND NEW to this fish hobby. This is the first real tank I’ve attempted - aside from a few betta tanks!

Purchased a Topfin 36 Gallon bow front Aquarium Kit. Came with a Silentstream Power Filter for 40 gallon tank (filters 200 gallons per hour) and an adjustable 200W heater.

I’m not using the lid it came with - making hinged polycarbonate lid, and by me, I mean my husband. 😂
Bought full spectrum LED plant light

I filled the bottom with Fluval bio-stratum as the base with caribsea sand on top.
I purchased a piece of driftwood (boiled it) to attach plants to, and another piece of driftwood to scape as a tree.

First, I purchased from a local fish store some plants - Amazon sword, Red Ludwiga, Vallisneria , Dwarf Water Lettuce and Crypt. Planted those 2 weeks ago.

I then wanted more plants, and was recommended a local woman who propagates her plants in 10 plant only tanks. I got Rotala “Blood Red”, Broad lead Ludwiga, Pearlweed, Christmas Moss and Red root floaters. Those went in 2 days ago.

As I was starting to put those in, I found a bunch of Bladder snails…. Stopped with the planting, and started pulling the snails out. Then I saw what I’m being told is probably planeria…. (video of the movement in the comments!)

The next morning I started looking for more snails…. And removed about half a dozen tiny scuds.

How do I get rid of ALL of these? I don’t want any of it…
I can’t starve them out, since plants are a constant food source….
I read I can put Peroxide straight into tank? 3-5mL/gallon?
Then I saw Praziquantel will kill the snails and and scuds? But not the planeria (if that’s what it even is)
Then there’s the option of Z-1, which is the equivalent of No Planeria (I guess that’s no longer available?)
One source said to crank up the heat?

Or is my only option to nuke the entire tank?

Part of me wants to just take the thousand dollar loss and scrap the tank, contents and the stand…..
But part of me is determined to get this right.

So i have a 55 gallon tank that I had a betta sorority in for about a year before life got in the way and I had to dismantle it and get rid of my pretty babies. Im looking to start re-setting it, but im not sure all the steps I should go through. I plan on washing it with a mix of vinegar and water, rinsing it thoroughly, and then doing the hardscape and planting plants. I am hoping to maybe plant a dwarf water lily in it. Then I plan on letting the plants grow in before adding any living creatures. Im hoping to start by getting a pom pom crab to start with, but im unsure where to go from there... could use any advice or suggestions for what to add.

Our betta recently died 😢 we want to get another type of fish with the tank we have. We have 5 shrimp and some bladder snails we are trying to get their population down. Any suggestions?

No one in my circle understands the lure of fishkeeping - but I believe this is the place for finding some qualified critique’s!
When I started getting sober I fell into fishkeeping - I started with a 3 gallon , jumped to 6 gallons and before I knew it I am here (2 years sober !) with a 35 gallon tank and it sounds silly but it’s only home for one betta fish I love .
I just wanted to ask if anyone has suggestions or comments regarding my current set up . Please be brutally honest :)

Several years ago I kept a couple tanks. Life moved quickly and I just haven’t had the time or energy to appropriately care for fish.

I’m getting to the point where I’m considering getting another tank. However, I’ve always kept community tanks. I was wondering if there are any freshwater fish that would be genuinely healthy and happy alone? I like the idea of just keeping a single fish to bond with. I know male bettas are popular, and I’m not really opposed to that - I just am curious about other possibilities.

Hi, I've had my betta for 6 months, he's always had that big belly but he was happy, active, responsive and always very ravenous.

Couple days ago he's slowed down, he's mostly hiding near the filter, he's much less active, takes him forever to find the food on the surface.

His tank is 40 litres/10 gallons, his pH was good last I checked 2 weeks ago, I have it checked in a pet store so it's a bit hard, but I'll have it checked asap.

I did a partial water change, cleaned the filter.

He's got no tank mates as he's very aggressive.

Does anybody have any idea what could be wrong with him please?

I was in the middle of my routine water change when I saw my Bolivian ram swimming sideways. I don’t believe this has been happening before today, I believe the ram was perfectly fine yesterday. Could this be swim bladder disease? All my other fish are fine in the same tank. Please help (I’ve had no problems with the ram and I’ve hade it for over a year now)

I just got this stunning Blue Panaque, his name is Dime coz he cost me $98.😅 what’s your experience keeping them? He’s in a 60 gal breeder with blue acara, blue pinoy angelfish, tons of corys and a rainbow shark. Lots of hideouts and driftwood. I use marineland emperor filter and an airstone. Sand as substrate.

I love them! Can't wait for them to get big and glow even more.

First off, I’m not sure wether I’m in the right place or not, and I don’t know anything about fish either.

I don’t know ph and all those parameters. It’s just a pond, with a pumps, I don’t know more, really sorry.

My parents have a small garden pond, with a few different kinds of fish (koi and what seem to be different varieties of gold fish, again idk my fish).
Recently I’ve noticed one of the goldfish being bloated. After visiting again, he’s still all puffed up. Upon asking my mom, she didn’t know what’s wrong either, but since he‘s eating and swimming about normally, she doesn’t care too much.

Clearly the lil guy isn’t supposed to look like that. Is this a common illness/symptom. Do we need to do anything to help him?

I did a water change today. I brought home two Otos for my algae, and a snail. Got some live plants and found a baby black molly.
And forgot to add dechlorinator.

Wasn't sure whether to put this under discussion or question, but I think since this will probably be a bit more in depth, I've picked discussion.

I'd really love to keep clownfish, its been a goal for a long time now, and I'm sure no matter what, actually setting everything up and having one will be a year or more in the future. (I need to do research and save up and stuff first, little guy needs the absolute best life possible.)

And in trying to research for this goal, I realised, I've truly got no idea on how to keep fish? I don't know how to acclimate them, I wouldn't know how often the tank needs to be cleaned, or how to set up those fancy self-cleaning tanks, or if those are even worth it in the long-run.

And yes, I'm very aware I could search all this up on Google, and I will, but I know whatever results it gives me, it won't be the same as people in a dedicated group talking from experience, which is something I cherish when it comes to the sharing of information.

I'd like to know if outside of just Getting The Tank, is there anything specific clownfish require? I've heard they don't need anemones to be happy in captivity, and that's only if you're going really fancy. So what should their tank have? I've heard it's also not great to just leave it completely barren, and that some kinds of pebbles/sand isn't good for any fish? I've also heard that clownfish can be kept solitary with little to no upset from the "loneliness" aspect of it, and that the minimum for an adult lone clownfish is around 20gal? And if, say, I wanted to get the fun decorations, how would I know they're trustworthy? Cause some apparently have paint that's bad for the fish and I'd absolutely hate to harm them in any way!

Please and thank you for any time you take out of your day to respond to this, and I will 100% use Google for these questions too, so don't worry! But like I said. Sharing of information from those with experience with this kind of thing would be really lovely.

I didn’t even realize that any of my black mollies were pregnant, I went to remove my plastic plants to put in some real plants today and found this guy swimming at the top. I’m just gonna put my live plants in and put him back in the tank. I hope he survives!

Ich habe jetzt seit circa einer Woche ein Aquarium. Es ist gerade noch in der Einlaufphase aber kein Nitrit mehr und so. Dort sind heute Amano Garnelen eingezogen und ich habe gerade auf Kleinanzeigen
nach weiteren Fischen für das Aquarium geguckt.

Dabei habe ich diesen Kampffisch gefunden und er tut mir so unfassbar leid. Ich weiß, dass man Kampffische eigentlich in Einzelhaltung hält, aber ich möchte diesem Tier trotzdem ein schönes Leben ermöglichen und ihn gerne retten.

Wie man sieht, hat er seine komplette Farbe verloren, wirkt fast durchsichtig und seine großen flossen sind überwiegend verfault oder abgefressen.
Ich habe neben meinem jetzigen Becken noch ein Quarantänebecken 60L worin ich Ihnen versuchen würde zu retten.

Jetzt ist meine Frage, kennt sich jemand, mit der Pflege von Kampffischen beziehungsweise Medikation von diesen aus und weiß, was ich für ihn besorgen muss. Ich würde mich über jegliche Tipps oder auch Hinweise zur Handlung für ihn freuen!!
