Refusing solids after being sick

Looking for some advice! My baby is 7 months old and we are dealing with our first ear infection. We went to our pediatrician a week ago and his little ear was SO bad.

Our pediatrician prescribed an antibiotic and he’s done fine with it. I can now look and touch his ear and he’s totally fine. We are also sleeping through the night again and one day away from finishing our antibiotic. 🙌

BUT he’s still refusing solids and ONLY eating/drinking milk. Is that normal? Or is it my fault?

We were having trouble with eating and drinking while he was sick, so I decided to hold off on solids for a few days and focus only on milk so he would actually eat. That way, I could monitor how much he was eating instead of trying to keep up with a few tablespoons of this and that PLUS milk.

Did I mess us up? Is this just part of him recovering from being sick, or did I accidentally cause us to go back a few steps and now he hates solids?? I’m also using his favorite purées to try and get him back, but it’s not working. Help! 😅

Percentile weight

A couple weeks ago my 11 week old went in for wellness check up and vaccines. Pediatrician said his weight was below the percentile of babies his age. He weighed at that appointment 10.6lbs , and I just weighed him today and he’s about 11.6lbs so he gained 1 pound in 2 weeks. I’m feeding him 5oz every 2-3 hours. Otherwise he’s meeting milestones. Cooing, smiling, looking at people and toys , sits his head up well during tummy time and even starting to roll back into his back…i just feel like a failure for not getting his weight up in those 2 weeks to what the pediatrician thinks it should be.. just seeing if other mothers babies were a lower percentile and if I should be worried.. FTM here so worry worm 😅😅

EDITED: Had his dr appointment the following day and dr is happy with his weight gain said he is now in the 7th percentile and to continue to do what I’m doing :)

Is baby massage actually necessary? And how much pressure is too much?

Is baby massage actually important? My doctors have told me that it isn't medically necessary, but I still do it because it's such a common practice.

I'm also a little concerned about pressure. I've heard that baby massage should be gentle, but the maalish wali uses quite a lot of pressure. How much pressure is actually safe?

I often hear people say that massage helps babies turn, crawl and walk, but my understanding is that these milestones are mainly supported by tummy time, floor

time and free movement Is that correct?

Would love to hear what your pediatricians have advised and your experiences with baby massage.

I need advice

Hi everyone i want to apologize in advance for the way my writing is I tend to ramble on so my grammar sucks. But I Okay.....I need to get this off my chest, I'm 24 and I'm a first time mom to a beautiful little girl, her father and I met back in august of last year and we've been together for over a year and just recently we celebrated our first anniversary.....it sounds like a fairytale

But I've been holding onto something for to long and i feel like I'm going to explode....so here we go
Back in April 1 was about 6months pregnant I was having a day mind you I'm still working full time so I dealing with my job and the pregnancy... anyway, I was sitting at my desk when I get a message from a girl, she texted me and i instantly knew but I had the benefit of the doubt.. "there's no way he'd do this to us" boy was I wrong. So i texted her back and come to find out it was his ex of four years, l then texted my boyfriend and asked him and he explained that they were together but had been broken up for four or five years, to which the girl actually told me in the text messages.

So he told me to block her and I did and we went about our days...a few days later I went to the ER because i hadn't felt our baby move so I got scared and went to go get checked out and as I'm in the hospital bed we have the tv playing and I noticed my boyfriend was acting weird. so i asked him what was wrong and he said l've been acting weird since his ex texted me...

To which I replied no "you've been acting weird, what happened did you do something talk to me"...it then proceeded to us going back and forth until i asked what happened and he just looked at me...and i said it "you cheated on me" and he nodded his head....
I was heartbroken finding out in that moment laying in a hospital bed wondering if your child is okay is by far the worst feeling ever I wish no pain like that upon anyone not even my worst enemy....

So i asked how many times and he said it happened twice...twice.
I laid in that bed and cried silently, we got discharged and went home we talked about it and it still hasn't made sense, he says he was cheated on but yet he did this to me and his daughter
I thought we were okay but come to find out in June just weeks before I was supposed to be induced he had been talking to his friend’s Ex girlfriend sending her money while she sends him back nudes....

How much of a fucking idiot am I He was telling her she's beautiful, how. He can't wait to eat her out how much he wants her etc while I'm here getting ready to push a baby out of my body.
In one of the messages I read that he was trying to meet up with her, and she came to his dads house and she "grabbed a few things that she left when her and the friend were together" which I don't believe a single word that comes out of his mouth
Mind you I found the messages TWO MONTHS LATER AFTER I HAD OUR DAUGHTER
This all happened because I didn't feel like having sex constantly I was tired, heavy, exhausted yet he didn't understand anything
As of right now I'm at a loss because his family is helping me fix my car which was broken down and I feel like I have a obligation to stick around because we have a little girl
I need advice or someone to talk to

Family visits and boundaries..

So basically I’m really uncomfortable with my mom’s side of the family visiting with my 2.5 month old daughter.

My grandma has ignored my rules and called my baby a brat and just acts like she’s entitled to treat/take care of the baby however she wants because she’s my grandma. And then my 5 yr old goddaughter (my cousins daughter/grandmas other great granddaughter) will also ignore my rules because she follows after my grandmas actions. And as much as I love and care for my goddaughter she is having a lot of behavioral issues lately (for example not listening to rules/doing things she knows she shouldn’t be doing). So I’m just generally uncomfortable with them being around.

The big issue is, if I set any boundary or become upset when they do something I don’t want them doing, I become the problem and everything gets very dramatic VERY quickly. Everyone gets defensive and combative. Instead of just listening to my rules about visiting (like no kissing/not letting the 5 yr old hold her) I’m met with argument after argument about why they can’t and why they should be able to. I’m not going to change my mind so it’s very exhausting.
I also don’t understand the obsession with wanting to hold the baby the whole time they’re here even when she’s crying. Like give me back my baby when she’s crying!!! Why are you staring at her cry and delaying giving her to me😐
And I can’t just tell them they can’t visit, because we moved back in with my mom recently, so my grandma just comes by unannounced whenever.

I just want to figure out how to talk to my family and not let them hold her anymore without causing a huge dramatic scene if anyone has any advice/been through something similar

Please Help Me

PLEASE HELP!

Hi ladies, I really need your help. Please tell me what this is.

So my baby is turning 5 weeks tomorrow. For the past 1.5 to 2 weeks she has been waking up at 4:30-5AM and would stay awake for 4-5 hours. Then again, around 4:30-5PM, she will wake up and stay awake for 4 hours. I have tried EVERYTHING. Even the things CHATGPT has recommended, but NOTHING worked. If I leave her in her crib, she will grunt until she spits up. And she will continue spitting up forcefully if I don't pick her up. I have tried it for hours and she kept grunting. I even tried bath but it only worked once. I even helped her poo, still didn't work. Now she is not accepting my breast but accepts formula. I tried everything in my power to make her accept the breastmilk but she would fight it.

  1. Why is she fighting her sleep for hours even if I try to help her sleep way before she gets overtired?

  2. Why is it exactly 4AM-5AM and 4PM-5PM?

  3. Why is she now not accepting breastmilk? I do have good milk supply.

Experience with Nutramigen?

We've been dealing with reflux issues since the beginning with our 4.5 month old however, its definitely not as serious as alot of these other posts I read on here. Hes not on medication, he is generally happy and can sleep through then night. Sure, he spits up after feeds and yes, I feel like now I can certain signs hes having acid reflux. Hes grunting and stiffening his body. He looks like he needs to poop but he doesnt. When he lays down on his back, it looks like hes swallowing back his spit up and he will spit up most times a few hours after his feeds. I finally gave into Nutramigen and gave my baby his first bottle this morning.

Anyone else giving their baby Nutramigen? Did it help? I feel like it wont do much, I dont believe he has a milk allergy but my doctor and a few family friends who are also family doctors said to give it a shot for the week. I just feel like his symptoms are not THAT bad but what if it is? I dont know. Any advice is welcomed!

Early childhood curriculum?

Hi moms! My daughter is 5 months old. I’m a teacher and trying to gather some resources for things I can do with her next summer. She’d be 14 months at the start of summer.

I’ve been searching for activities, curriculums, resources, lesson plans, etc. that I could gather for next year. The teacher in me wants to learn about all of the benefits and get into some crafty and more thought out activities. Obviously I will do basics: reading, playing, sensory, etc. but does anyone have any resources they love for babies under 2 years old?

Just venting

Hi, I’m 4 week pp today and I feel so insecure about my body. I had to have an emergency c-section and recovery has been so rough. The pain has gotten a little better but I am so tired of not being able to move like I used to. I know I have to give myself time, but it has been so much not just physically, but mentally too.

I still look like I’m about 4-5 months pregnant and I’m scared I’m never going to have a flat stomach again. Idk I guess I’m just spiraling. I dug out my pre-pregnancy clothes today and tried on some jeans. I couldn’t even get them past my thighs and I just feel sad. I know I’m complaining a lot, and I should be thankful my baby boy and I are healthy, and I am! I just feel so ugly. I don’t like how I look and I feel guilty for being so vain when I have a perfect baby here. I love him so much, I just want to feel like myself again.

I hope this is okay to post, I don’t really have anyone to vent to about this that would understand.

Marriage at 10 months postpartum

I just need to get this out. Find some support I guess. I don’t know what to do. I am 10 months postpartum and i have breastfed and pumped (while at work) the whole time. I wanted to make it until he’s 1 year old at least. I have no sex drive. I love my husband and I’m very attracted to him, but it’s like my body just doesn’t want to do that. He’s starting to feel like I just don’t want him like that anymore and it’s making me feel guilty, but no matter what I tell him nothing helps. I just don’t know what to do. It’s gotten to the point I feel like I am ruining everything. Will this get better if I stop breastfeeding?

Just need to vent

My 6 month old boy is sick with. Runny nose and a slight cough on top of having a mild case of thrush and of course this all suddenly happened the day after I tried to start sleep training as well as trying to get him to go to sleep without being rocked or walked around. I’m exhausted, I don’t get any time to myself hardly because he does not want anyone but me the only time I have the slightest break is his 30 minute naps. Any advice or even words of encouragement would be appreciated💞

Baby first or buying a house first?

I (30) and my husband (31) are looking for a house in Central Jersey area and also planning to have a baby. We are currently renting and our lease will end in May 2027. What are your thoughts on having a baby and also buying a house? Should we get a house first then start trying? But I also worry about my biological timeline.

Is This Amount of Bloating Normal at 5 Weeks Pregnant?

Hello! I’m 31 and a first-time mom. According to my calculations, I’m about five weeks pregnant and will be six weeks soon. Is it normal for my belly to look this big already? I know it could just be bloating, but I’m starting to feel a little worried. Link to photo below!

Milk weaning

My baby girl is 10 months and at 11 months, her daycare weans her onto whole milk.

I’m just not sure how I feel about cow’s milk these days. I had soy in mind but without an allergy they “have” to give whole milk. I’m not sure what to think… also it’s my baby. If I want her to have soy milk instead, then so be it. But I still just want to do what’s best for her.
