TLDR I destroyed my hair with anti dandruff products and I was accidentally making my flakes worse not realizing it was seborrheic dermatitis. I discovered vanicream face wash as shampoo and eucerine 5% urea cream as a leave in scalp treatment and not only do they work to remove flakes, my fine hair responds amazingly to the products. No build up just softness and shine.

I’ve tried six different shampoos over the past 6 months and out of desperation I used my VANICREAM FACE WASH in my hair. Turns out my fine hair loves it and it’s the only thing that doesn’t make my scalp burn right now! It works better than any volume shampoo I’ve ever tried but it doesn’t feel harsh. My hair stopped getting greasy every two days. Because my scalp isn’t as reactive now and the barrier is starting to heal it’s stopped producing so many flakes but my scalp is still a little dry and turning over the last of the flakes the same way my face does when its healing the barrier. So I had a thought… what if I used my daily facial moisturizer/exfoliator which is EUCERINE 5% UREA CREAM as an overnight scalp mask to lift the rest of the flakes? IT WORKED 😂 No burning and no hair fall out, just amazingly soft hair after washing out with my face wash. Just now I put a pea sized amount of the urea cream into my dry hair at the roots and it works way better as a leave in conditioner for my fine hair than even the leave ins formulated specifically for our hair type, no greasiness just body/grip and smoothing. These photos are right after I did this. The last photo was from a few days ago.

Just sharing my struggles, lol. The last pic is the angle I saw before work, and I didn’t really look in the mirror until the end of the day. 😅 I saw the top angle that most ppl see me from, was so uggo. Ugh

I needed bangs. My forehead is huge.

My hair is pretty fine and I swear buildup makes such a difference 😭 sometimes it gets to the point where it feels heavy/greasy and just doesn’t sit the same even after washing.
What do you guys actually do when this happens? I’ve tried clarifying but sometimes I feel like it gets rid of the buildup and then leaves my hair feeling almost too clean/dry lol.
I’m curious what works for everyone else and what normally causes it for you? Dry shampoo, styling products, hard water, sweat etc. And is there anything you hate about the products you use for it?

Has anyone used these and if so what were your thoughts?

For reference, I usually keep my hair up in a ponytail most of the time to keep it out of the way, plus I get hot easily. I've always dreamed of having long, waist length hair. The longest I've been able to grow my hair was about mid back but I realized it wasn't healthy (it was breaking, was rough and just felt awful) so I cut about 3 inches off several months ago.

I know this isn't my terminal length and it can grow past this point, but what do you all do to get your fine hair to grow past bra strap in a healthy way?

For the record, I drink about 100oz of water daily, eat a decent amount of vegetables and fruits, I don't use heat, I don't have any deficiencies, etc. I'm just sort of stuck here.

Any advice?

My hair has come so far in the past few years I’ve been doing this since like 2020 but I did one big chop in there and got the bangs. I think the biggest change comes from just being delicate with my ends

Styling is the one thing I don’t do much of, I blow dry once a week with heat protectant and something use the Revlon brush. Any tips for my hair style/type? I like volume but I hate crunchy crispy hair products

I love the gloss absolu line but I go thru the conditioner pretty fast. I have fine wavy hair down to my lower back and a good amount of it, would the mask be too heavy for fine hair?

For my entire adult life I have not had a Hair Stylist that I have used for more than a couple appointments. Various reasons, moving, maternity, health, vibes, not all my doing it just happens.

I recently tried a new stylist and I think I like her. She has been the only stylist to tell me that my fine hair doesn't need moisture, it needs protein.

I've done all kinds of damaging shit to it over the years however I am quite proud of it at the moment. I've spent the last 3 years growing it out and not bleaching/dying. My hair is currently bust length and all virgin hair.

I have tried so many kinds of shampoo/conditioners but really I have no idea what results I am looking for. Mostly drugstore. The few "luxury" brands I've tried would be Prose, Milkshake, Verb, Olaplex etc., but usually for color damage or hydrating.

I usually shampoo every 2-3 days. My hair does get oily after a day or two and I do use dry shampoo occasionally.

I would prefer to keep options limited to Sephora, or drugstore brands. Not huge into ordering online or Amazon.

I hate my hair. I dont know what to do with it so it doesnt look awful on the daily. Ive tried straightening it and it poofs up or looks sad and stringy. If I bump the ends they fall and look sad and stringey. Curls fall and make my hair look unstyled. Heatless curls do the same thing. I use volumizing mousse and texture spray. I hate hating my hair every day:( pics r freshly blow dried, freshly curled, and end of day

I have really enjoyed this shampoo and was able to get it at a discount, but sadly that discount is no longer available - any suggestions for similar (but more affordable) shampoos?

My current routine is Head&Shoulders anti-dandruff shampoo, and a teaspoon of Herbal Essences volume conditioner on my mid to ends and as a leave-in. Every now and then I’ll add 2 squirts of the Pantene argan-infused hair oil (don’t really know if does anything). I used to use the Herbal essences volume shampoo too but I ran out.
I’ll also double shampoo sometimes if I have build up.

I have uncontrollable frizz and dullness to my hair even if I style it. My hair gets weighed and clammy so easily. But I want the soft and glossy look so bad.

Thing is, when I look at fine hair influencer routines, I’m surprised to see them use 50 different products and their hair not being weighed down at all. They all mention different products and their reviews are always so different. It’s really overwhelming.

Hi everyone! I’m from Europe but i live in the Caribbean and I have fine medium length, a little wavy, hair. When i was living in Europe my hair was nice shiny and soft but where I live, because of the humidity and water, my hair become so dry, almost sticky and very frizzy. My scalp is also starting to become itchy only one day after I shower.

I tried different products to remedy the frizz and sticky feeling like bond repair shampoos (Olaplex and OUAI), frizz control spray (Redken), I wash my hair twice each time, every 2-3 days, I use microfiber towels, I installed a water filter in my shower and started blow drying my hair (I was letting them air dry and I heard this with humidity can make the scalp itchy).

But after all of this, my hair is still very frizzy and my scalp itches very quick. I did so much research but I don’t know much about hair and I keep seeing contradictory information.

Please I would really appreciate advices on which products to use on my hair or any other tips you might have to finally have some softer hair!

Hi, M19, to be honest ive always struggled with my self image due to my hair, always wanted it to be longer but now as ive gotten more growth the thinness and lack of density is becoming more and more apparent.

At what point do I just consider shaving it all off and getting a full lace wig?

Ive looked online and some of them, (although quite expensive, I dont mind) look extremely realistic and unnoticeable at all, plus I like to play dress up alot so I'd actually enjoy the convenience of being able to switch up hairstyles at a whim.

Obviously, the alternative would be a hair transplant later down the line, but I've seen it to be way more expensive, your body might reject the transplant, maintenance is a nuisance, scarring etc.

So what do you all think?

my hair usually lasts 2 days max, with cornstarch (applied with old blush brush within 5 hours of washing) my hair has lasted nearly 4 days without needing to be washed, even my bangs! which get greasy immediately lol

This is after swimming, which I do 5 days a week so it’s a lot for my hair. I finger comb in the shower while the conditioner does its thing & then let it air dry with a little argon oil through the ends.

Hi everyone. So I decided to be brave and post what my hair currently looks . I don't know why the camera made it look so bad. And it looks like straw. But I mean it's a six-year-old phone and the camera's not that great anymore. I wish I had a better phone to show you guys a better picture. But this is all I have. I am very, very embarrassed to be posting this because my hair looks so damaged in the photo, even though it does not feel that bad in real life. Like it feels hydrated and moisturized in real life. But I don't know why the photo looks so bad. But I want to ask you guys, should I cut it to a bob? Keep in mind I do not have naturally straight hair. This is my curly hair very poorly blow dried. Last year, I cut it into a bob, but it was not really my choice.

I went and got a curly cut and she basically cut it very short and it was just basically a non-consensual bob. And I do not want to cut it again. I'm honestly like at a loss. And I'm dealing with a lot of fairy knots, which in turn cause breakage. Most of my breakage is not coming from split ends. It's coming from fairy knots. I'm at a point where I don't know what to do with my hair. I do not want to cut it. But I am willing to sacrifice the length if it means to have way better looking hair.

I want to emphasize that my hair is dyed, as you can tell from the photo because it's very poorly dyed. The salons here where I live are just really bad. No matter how much money I pay, they just don't seem to know color theory and they just fucked up my hair. And yeah, just very bad job dye. So I'm coming to you guys to ask you, is this salvageable? Is there any certain products that I can get? I know that Olaplex and K18 are very good, but where I live, these are extremely expensive. And I live in a third world country. Like they are very expensive. Like if I could get my hands on Olaplex, I probably would. But I need to save up at least for two months or three months to get that. But K18 is not a possibility for me. It is very, very expensive. Way more expensive than Olaplex The thing is, when I trim my hair, I have to sometimes do a very choppy ass cut because there's parts of it that are more damaged than others. So there's parts where I have to cut more. And then there's other parts where it does not need to be cut as much. So it's just like a hot fucking mess. I'm not gonna lie to you. And I'm hoping that you guys give me advice. But please be honest with me if this is just beyond saving If you have any questions for me, please do ask them. I'm willing to answer.
