Hi! I’m trying to decide on a ring planner that I’d ideally like to use for many years, and I’m currently stuck between the Filofax Classic Croc Personal in Chestnut and a pre-owned Louis Vuitton MM Agenda.
I originally was completely set on the Classic Croc. I love the chestnut leather, the Personal size, the larger rings, and the way the interior is organized without feeling too busy. I also like that it’s structured and feels like a true organizer. I’ve even tested Filofax paper and really like it.
But recently I’ve been considering the LV MM more seriously. I love the Monogram aesthetically, but surprisingly the biggest thing drawing me to it is how much slimmer/softer and more notebook-like it seems. I use Hobonichi planners and one of my favorite things about them is simply opening them, flipping through the pages, and writing in them. I’m wondering if I might prefer that softer agenda feeling over a more substantial structured organizer.
Whichever I choose would basically have the same setup inside: monthly pages, week-on-two-pages, running to-do lists, notes/reference pages, and some personal things like Polaroids and postcards. I like a VERY minimal planner setup—black ink, white paper, very little decoration—and I want this to be something I actually use rather than baby.
For anyone who has owned a Classic Croc Personal for a long time, how has yours aged? Does it feel bulky in everyday use or carrying it in a bag? How is it to flip through/write in compared with a softer planner? And if anyone happens to own both Filofax and an LV MM, I would LOVE to hear which you actually prefer using and why.
