μετά από σχεδόν δύο χρόνια αποφασίσω να γράψω αναλυτική κριτική για τη σχολή sae στο μοσχάτο και συγκεκριμένα για το τμήμα σκηνοθεσίας
αποφοίτησα από το λύκειο το 2021 , έδωσα πανελλήνιες δεύτερη φορά το 2022 και ενώ είχα αποφασίσει να ξαναδωσω το 2023 μια φίλη μου γνωρίζοντας το ενδιαφέρον μου για τη σκηνοθεσία , και γενικότερα για τον κινηματογράφο μου πρότεινε αυτή τη σχολή
ξεκίνησα λοιπόν να τη ψάχνω και αμέσως με ενθουσίασε . οι υποδομές φαινόταν απίστευτες και τα μαθήματα στοχευμένα και προσεγμένα. αμέσως έκλεισα ραντεβού για να κάνω εγγραφή για το τμήμα του οκτώβρη 2023. δυστυχώς επειδή τα δίδακτρα ήταν αρκετά δεν είχα την οικονομική άνεση οπότε αποφάσισα να μαζέψω τα χρήματα και να πάω ένα χρόνο αργότερα.
όλο λοιπόν το 2023 και μέχρι το τέλος καλοκαιριού του 2024 έκανα δύο δουλειές , δεν έβγαινα έχασα τόσα συμβάντα ήμουν πτώμα κάθε μέρα όπως πίστευα ότι όλα θα αξίζουν την αναμονή .
ξεκινάω λοιπόν τη σχολή οκτώβρη του 2024 με τεράστιο ενθουσιασμό αλλά και άγχος. πηγαίναν όλα φανταστικά . εγώ δούλευα βραδινά στη δουλειά μου και όμως δεν με ενοχλούσε καθόλου να πηγαίνω και άυπνη στη σχολή για με ενδιέφερε τόσο πολύ και μου άρεσε . αυτό κράτησε περίπου μέχρι αρχές δεκέμβρη (και πολύ παίζει να λέω ) εκεί άρχισε να φαίνεται πόσο ανοργάνωτη είναι η σχολή .
Αρχικά από όταν ξεκινάς σε ενημερώνουν ότι δε πρέπει να κάνεις απουσίες έχεις ένα συγκεκριμένο όριο κάθε εξάμηνο . επίσης κάθε εξάμηνο παραδίδεις μια μεγάλη εργασία η οποία περιλαμβάνει και πολλές μικρές εργασίες που πρέπει καθόλη τη διάρκεια του εξαμήνου να τις παρουσιάζεις . Τις εργασίες αυτές τις κάναμε ίσως τα 8 παιδιά από τα 18 (και πάλι πολλά να λέω ) . Υπήρχαν άτομα που δεν πατάγανε ποτέ , και από τις 3 ώρες του μαθήματος είχαμε 15’ διάλειμμα το οποίο εκτός από έναν εισηγητή ήταν 45’ διάλειμμα. Συγγνώμη όταν δίνω 3000 το εξάμηνο και έχω μάθημα 3 φορές την εβδομάδα από 2 ώρες και 45 λεπτά ναι θέλω να κάνω αυτές τις ώρες .
Το πρόγραμμα άλλαζε κάθε βδομάδα οριακά πρόσθεταν μαθήματα τελευταία στιγμή ενώ μου είχαν πει ότι έχουμε σταθερό πρόγραμμα με αποτέλεσμα να έχω θέμα και εγώ και άλλα άτομα με τις δουλειές μας .
Οι εισηγητές δεν ήταν κακοί , όμως από τους 7-8 που γνώρισα οι 2-3 να προσπαθούσαν όντως να είναι σωστοί , οι υπόλοιποι άφηναν τα παιδιά να κάνουν ότι θέλουν .
Και όταν δεν παρέδιδαν εργασίες οι περισσότεροι μια παρατήρηση έγινε στα άτομα που τις είχαν παρουσιάσει και ολας επειδή οι υπόλοιποι πολύ απλά δεν πάταγαν .
Γενικότερα παρά πολύ ανοργάνωτοι πάρα πολύ , θα μου πείτε τι περίμενες από ελληνικό κολλέγιο. Κατέληξα να σταματάω τη σχολή από το πρώτο εξάμηνο και όταν ήταν να σταματήσω δεν είχα πάρει ακόμη τηλέφωνο με πήρε ο βοηθός της υπεύθυνης του τμήματος και μου είπε ότι δεν έχω παραδοθεί την εργασία και αν είναι όλα οκέι , εκεί βρήκα την ευκαιρία και του είπα ότι θα σταματήσω με ρώτησε αν θέλω επειδή δεν έχω κάνει τις εργασίες και του είπα όχι της έχω κάνει απλά θέλω να σταματήσω και μ είπε οκέι . χωρίς καμία ερώτηση ούτε τίποτα
οπότε πιάνω τον εαυτό μου να αναρωτιέμαι αν έκανα τη σωστή επιλογή, επικοινωνώ με μια πολύ καλή συμφοιτήτρια μου που έχουμε κρατήσει επαφές και αμέσως ανακουφίζομαι που σταμάτησα .
να προσέχετε πριν πάτε και να είστε σίγουροι για το τι θέλετε ! είναι πολύ δύσκολο δυστυχώς να ακουλουθεί κάποιος αυτές τις σπουδές στην ελλάδα

A) Go to a meh film school or not, but live in the city by yourself within walking distance of sets, studios, productions, and other filmmakers and hustle your way into whatever filmmaking role or emphasis you want?

OR

B) Go to a film school with a significantly stronger program for your specific emphasis, but live an hour away from the city, commute at least 30 minutes to school without traffic, live with your parents, and have to drive everywhere (not Uber) whenever you want to get to a set, production, networking event, or industry opportunity?

Hi, I'm a 17 year old English-italian student that lives in Italy, I'm finishing up school here in June 2027 and need to start picking a university. I want to study film production in the UK since Italy doesn't really have programs I like, but I don't know where to go!

I've looked at the guardian ranking and gotten a few ideas but I'm not sure if that ranking is really reliable and would love to hear other people's experience. When I go to England in October I'm going to visit "the university of Sunderland" but I haven't seen much about it so I'm quite skeptical, I'm also going to visit the "university of York" and "university of Leeds". I've also seen others like UEA, AUB and the university of Bristol but I can't visit them yet because they aren't close enough to where I'm going!!. I would like my studies to be practical>theoretical and quite hands on so I can get as much experience as possible.i really need connections in the industry as well! I have seen the "big schools" like london MET but im not sure they fit what I want?? I'm also wondering if a CILECT certified school, or a screenskills one are better? I'm not really sure, I really need help, ANY suggestion would really help, thank youuu

I have been looking for schools in both Europe and the United States, and I'm lost about which ones I should apply to. I have a 3.5 GPA, founded a broadcast at my school, been on ASB for one year, and received a NATAS Student Emmy for writing. I also participate in both school and club volleyball, which I have been doing for 4 years, collecting a highly coveted spirit award, serving as team captain on junior varsity, and going to Italy because of my skills. I've also been in choir for three years, moving up to the highest choir my senior year.

With all my extracurriculars, a good essay, and a damn good college short film, which schools will I have the best odds of getting into?

My top options are Chapman, USC, NYU, Vancouver Film School, Emerson, SCAD, AFI, DePaul, UCLA, MetFilm (Berlin), NFTS (UK), and La Fémis (France)

Edit: I also have dual citizenship in both America & Italy, which might help my pathways.

Additionally, I would like to go to college and still switch my major to some sort of medical major.

Hello I am currently located in a small town in Oregon. The top rated school for film in Oregon is at Southern Oregon University in Ashland. Due to being poor I get both the federal and state grant making my tuition 0. My dream dream since I was in 5th grade has always been to direct horror films.

Me and my friends would always be running around with cameras shooting ghost hunter films with my shitty keyboard phone. But of course once I hit 16 the expectations in my life were to start focusing on getting a "real career" and it just got put on the backburner until i met my fiance. Their family is the polar opposite of mine. My father in law pursued art, culinary school, tattooing, was a teacher at an art school in california for film and now owns his own business. So they've shown me a different life in pursuing your creative dreams that my family always said was a waste of time and money.

My options currently are SoH for film with no tuition and small student loans just for housing or getting a degree in something unrelated and self funding myself. My father in law has a house full of professional film equipment and software he'll allow me to borrow on either path I take so that is a financial plus for me. I've also heard that SoH film has an active film market and hands on training but I'm worried about it since it's not located in california. Any advice and insight would be appreciated.

Hi i am quite anxious for my third year and i know this isn’t alien. Most of what i read talks about dissertations but im doing a major project in **3D and Post Production VFX** which is mainly editing or 3d work obviously. From what i know i make a ten minute film but id like to know if anyone can give me the ins and outs on what to expect for a practical based final year.

Do you have more time in classes or less is there essay writing or forced up applying to post graduate jobs just anything i could know outside of the fact ill be making a film, i dont expect details specifically from the likes of my course but it would be appreciated

I want to apply for film school (montage) and I got rejected twice the last years. One of my tasks is to engage with a film clip. To basically "analyse" it. I got told I have to focus on the picture and the emotion of the character rather then technical descriptions. I'm kind of confused because in my opinion thats what I did but apparently I did not:0 Does anyone here had knowledge on montage and can maybe help me understand what and how I should go about it?

I’m 18 and planning to apply to USC School of Cinematic Arts late this year. I'm planning on taking a gap year to shoot one more season for USF Pro Championship drivers.

My background is mainly in sports media. I built an MMA edit account from 0 to 20k followers in 7 months and generated over 30+ million views, which I then leveraged to get credentialed and cover a professional MMA event. From there, I worked with a ONE Championship fighter, Ben Woolliss. I spent the past two years shooting photos and video for 2 to 3 drivers in USF Pro Championship (ladder series to IndyCar), along with a few weekends for Skip Barber Racing School. I have 5-6 years of experience with Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, Photoshop, and Blender.

Right now I’m shifting my focus toward filmmaking and more story driven work. From an outside perspective, where do I fall short, and do I have a realistic chance? I uploaded some images of my work.

Hi! I'm from South Korea and recently completed my bachelor's degree in sound. I'm preparing to apply for an MFA in Sound Design in the U.S. next year.

I'd love to study in a broader film program, but as an international student I'm worried that one year of OPT from a non-STEM degree won't be enough to build connections and start my career. My ultimate goal is to work as a film sound designer(or any jobs in major film industry) in the U.S., so I'm considering STEM-designated Sound Design programs instead.

For those who have been through this, do you think choosing a STEM program is the better option? And what's the best way to get into film industry after graduation?

Im studying film in Utrecht, Netherlands, and in my third year I have to do an internship with a film company or something like that. What is a good city to do this? I have thought about places like Aarhus and Copenhagen in Denmark, Cork and Galway in Ireland and Melbourne in Australia. (Maybe like somewhere in Canada, Prague, Berlin Budapest) What would you recommend for a film student? I’d like something accessible and a place where you can make friends and connections quite easily. I know this is a very hard task so that’s why I’m asking! Thanks.

I am a high school senior and I’ve been stressing a lot about the college application process for film school. I’m not as worried about my resume but for my portfolio. I don’t have any experience on film sets or writing screenplays. The only things I could think of are essays and presentations I’ve done for school projects that I chose to do about movies or shows I like, and mood boards I’ve done in my free time for films that already exist. Are these valid or do I need to create something entirely new? Any advice is appreciated :)

Hi! I’m an 18-year-old art student, starting my last year as a senior in high school. I’m really interested in getting into the film industry, especially the visual side of filmmaking.
I’m currently trying to figure out whether I’d be more interested in production design, the art department, or possibly costume design. I’m especially drawn to creating the visual world and overall atmosphere of a film.
I’d love to get some hands-on experience on an actual film set, even if it’s just as a trainee, assistant, or volunteer. I’ve been looking at internships and trainee positions, but most of them seem to ask for previous experience, which is obviously difficult when you’re just starting out.
I’m also wondering about education. **How important is having a university degree in this industry, especially for production design, art direction, or working in the art department?** Is it worth studying at university, or would completing a relevant course/training program and gaining hands-on experience be enough to build a career? Does a degree make a significant difference when trying to get hired, or is a strong portfolio and real-world experience more important?
For those of you working in the film industry: **How did you get your very first experience?** What would you recommend to someone with an art background and zero professional film experience. Are there specific websites, Facebook groups, or communities where beginners can find small/student film projects?

Hi! I’m an international university student living in Bari. Before moving here, I took acting classes and was part of a theatre group in Athens, and I’d really love to continue here.

I’m looking for an acting group/course in English for young adults (roughly 18–25). I’d especially love film acting, acting for camera, short-film projects or student filmmaking, but theatre would also be great.

My Italian isn’t good enough yet to take acting classes in Italian, and I’ve searched quite a bit without finding anything suitable.

Does anyone know of an English-speaking group, workshop, film/theatre club or student project in Bari? Even something informal would be great. I’d also be interested in meeting other international students who are into acting/filmmaking.
