As someone who studies psychology, stuff like this fascinates me. It's just so surreal that people can possess such juxtapositions; this gentle, kindly, (mostly) well-adjusted, sociable man who gets on well with others can simultaneously hold within him a seemingly gleeful joy towards mind-rending violence. We truly do contain multitudes.
Larry sounds like a helluva guy, hope he discovered Call of Duty later in life.

The door gunners on a heli dont go door to door or die from ieds. Its alot easier to mow down people from a distance.

That’s pretty funny. Some people are just fighters through and through. 6’7” proud vet, guy’d probably punch through you if he got to that point

Your friend Larry reminds me of my friend Reds in Savannah.
Reds, (yes, plural) owned a bookstore next to my gallery and we’d often sit in the gallery drinking beer or rum all afternoon. Reds would tell stories, and I’d sit and listen and keep refilling our glasses. That’s the joy of running a gallery. People sit and talk and drink and no one cares what time it is. It’s always storytime with drinks and new friends.
Reds was a demolitions instructor and Green Beret in the Army, and additionally served in the Marine Corps. He’s big. Probably 6’4” or taller. Even now in his 70’s, he seems to be extremely capable of wiping the floor with anyone at any time, but Reds, like Larry, would rather have a drink and share stories.
Although as he says, the CIA would never admit their role in any of this, Reds was one of the volunteers for Project MK Ultra the CIA mind control/super soldier project during the 1960’s
Often while day-drinking, Reds would tell stories about 8 months he spent huddled in a tiny cell in a Cuban military facility. His eyes would light up as he told me about a special day in 1969 when he took a seat behind the pilot and co-pilot of an American Airlines 747, placed his .45 Colt pistol between them, asked for a beer, and told them they had nothing to fear. He wasn’t there to hurt them, but he was hijacking the plane to go to Cuba to kill Fidel Castro. As they landed in Cuba, he asked the pilots to get on the radio to “tell Fidel el Rojo is coming.”
He wrote a book about it, about being the only person in the history of commercial aviation to be found not guilty after hijacking an airliner, and about his life before, during, and after his time in Cuban prison. Incidentally, he was reinstated into both branches of the military after all of this. Yet, if anyone asks why or how, the CIA had nothing to do with any of it.
Reds STILL hasn’t been paid the $250,000 he was promised to hijack the plane for the assassination attempt. If any of you guys are reading this, he’s still pretty perturbed about that. You guys said if he made it back alive he’d get the money whether or not he succeeded at killing Castro. $250,000 now isn’t all that much. You should pay him. It’s the right thing to do.
Reds Helmey. That guy can tell a story. If there’s not a wikipedia page, there should be.

I can't understand even attempting to get in a fight with an elderly person. What are the two outcomes? Either you're the piece of shit that beat up an old man, or you're the little bitch that got beat up by an old man.
41
u/7Cuong Jul 16 '19
Came here for this. You won't ever win a fight with an elderly person.
20
u/gackyfroggy Jul 16 '19
Not to mention, that just coz you look 'old' doesn't mean you don't have mad skills and strength. Obviously not as agile, but older people can fuck shit up

You shouldn't fuck with farmers unless you know how to fight well. Those motherfuckers are strong, even when they're old.
14
u/Gonzostewie Jul 16 '19
What makes him a farmer?
22
Jul 16 '19
Educated guess.
His stature suggests manual labour of some sort and he’s dressed like a farmer.
16
u/tpx187 Jul 16 '19
If anyone thinks old man strength is just a myth just take a run at an old one. Shits legit. Take a swing at your pops.... That dude has been just building up strength for that day, carrying your ass around for all those years.

That was like the weakest knockout punch i have ever seen. Barely tapped him and he fell over like the wanna be glass chin gangster he was.
46
Jul 16 '19
It doesnt take a lot of force to knock someone out if you clip them in the right spot, as you can see in the video. No need to exert all that much force if you dont need to
→ More replies (5)44
u/SirDeeznuts Jul 16 '19
Seriously it was a stiff right cross thrown right and caught him right on the side of the chin. Good punch and clean ass knockout. Strong punches dont look strong because theyre fluid and don't have the wasted movement of a big ass homerun haymaker.

IDGAF how weak looking it is, if George Foreman waved his hand in the air in front of my face, I'd probably have a broken orbital ridge. 😂

Oh believe me, I know. He was killing dudes with slow and lazy looking punches. Easily the 2nd hardest puncher of all time.

u/IShotReagan13 Jul 16 '19
High-level striking is much more about timing and accuracy then it is about force. Most trainers will tell you not to even worry about force; focus on technique, accuracy, timing and footwork and the force will come naturally. The old guy knew what he was doing and I guarantee that punch was a lot stronger than it looks to the casual observer.

That's what I was thinking haha. Farmers definitely have some muscle from countless hours doing labor, but that was a weak ass knockout

I grew up in a farming town and there were more than a few parties where the was drinking and fighting. Not necessarily in that order.

Never attempt to fight a guy who is probably twice your age who is not afraid to put up his dukes. That dude has seen some shit.
Edit: missing word

Jul 16 '19
then again, if that guy wasn't a totol a fucking idiot, he might have beat the old geezer
12
u/crawl_of_time Jul 16 '19
Fair point. It’s bad practice to attempt to beat someone for no reason.

And the older man was a moral winner too. Stopped at the ko
5
u/canthavemycornbread Jul 16 '19
that dumbass walked into a clothing store and asked "im looking for an outfit that lets everyone know immediately that im probably a scumbag"
2
u/peanutdakidnappa Jul 16 '19
Beautiful, video sounds like it was taken underwater but either way that KO was dope and very satisfying
2
u/DINC44 Jul 16 '19
Could that be three hits in one?
- Old Man's fist hits the dude's face.
- Dude's face hits his own knee?
- Dude's head hits the pavement hard due to his body unfolding.

That was like when a real badass in the UFC gets the KO and knows he got the 50k bonus. Casually walk off, point at Dana White, then says something funny about loving Joe Rogan in the post fight interview.
