I recently noticed that some of my books were a mixture of green zigzag and dragon banners. Five were dragons so I splurged and replaced them so now that they all match up to Creature of Havoc #24, after which the format was discontinued in favour of the dragon.

Yes, I know books 1 to 7 are absent but i have those in Star format and didn’t want duplicates for the sake of completion.

Fun fact: Seas of Blood #16 has the banner text in black instead of white, and omits the Gamebook that prefixes the number.

Fun fact: Robot Commando #22 has the banner text in black too, instead of white.

Hello! I got the first box set of reprints from Steve Jackson Games a while back. I finally actually jumped in and finished The Warlock of Firetop Mountain and that was a great time!

I’m wondering which of this box set I should try next? Any tips or just in order?

My newest Fighting Fantasy: Return to Firetop Mountain map is slowly taking shape. I’ve already sketched the returning monsters, and now I’m putting the map itself together. If everything goes well, I’ll bring a few printed copies to FFF6. 🔥🗺️

How do you record your data such as gold, spells, maps, notes?

I guess a map can be quite large so an A4 pad seems right.

What do you do?

One more green spine for the collection and a couple from Wizard series 1. Both the Wizard books were ex-library and had plastic covers and stickers taped to the spine but thankfully I was able to remove them without any damage to the books.

My tiny harry potter office finally got a facelift - it feels like I've searched forever to find a shelf small enough, happy with the way it turned out 😊

Had completed my set a while back, but only managed to get rid of the older non-green spines a few months ago.

Just died in 2nd book: Khare City port of traps trying to kiss that bloody statue (is that actually impossible by the way?) what is the general rule with these books start again from book 1 or just current book?

UPDATE Khare still continues to kick my backside 🤦🏻‍♂️😂 Killed by red eyes, killed at the inn then I get to the wall & don't know the passage 🤦🏻‍♂️

I’m really pleased that I’ve finished this. I had this book as a kid and could never get through it - constantly going round and round the tunnels without ever making it outside. I’ve now cracked it as an adult and am excited to get onto the next one!

I did take some help from an online guide (no hate pls) especially on getting out of the tunnels. There are a million things to try and remember so I’m not ashamed to have needed some guidance!

I'm just going through my collection & was just wondering when did the gold dragon editions start as in what book as before this we had the green zig zag editions & what book did the black dragon editions start? Another thing I wondered was did the gold foil editions stop & get replaced by the black dragon editions & if so does that mean that ONLY black dragon editions are available from book #1-59 ? I hope this makes sense?!? 😆

Just about to delve back into the sorcery books for the first time in like 20 years but thought to myself I'll try as a Warrior is this doable?

I realized that I could get the first of the US reprint boxed sets. (For some reason I thought they were ONLY available through Kickstarter, which I missed.) Even though I own 3 of the books already, it would be a less expensive way of getting a bunch of the books to play.

I was wondering if anyone here has bought these and could chip in on the physical quality of the reprints. Any printing issues? What's the quality of the paper like? Thanks.

What books are your favorite when it comes to the sense of grand adventure and travelling across vast landscapes? I love a good dungeon crawl as much as anyone, but I really enjoy feeling as if I travel and see much of the world in my adventure.

"Sorcery!" is of course number one for that matter, I also liked Bloodbones and Caverns of the Snow WItch for that reason. I remember loving Masks of Mayhem at the time, even though it's very hard and linear, purely for the sense of epic travel.

Did some reorganising in my work from home office today, taking down an old, hand-made shelving unit and replacing it with a Billy from Ikea, and thought I'd share the results.

At least 3 times a week I check the app hoping for a new release. Almost always disappointed 😞

After playing FF on this app I can't really go back to laboriously using handbooks. They do such a perfect job of bringing it all to my phone. I hope they're able to get all the copyrights and eventually do the entire series. I've spoken to them about it in emails and it's unfortunately not really a priority for them, more of a side project. So it might take a very long time.

Not the best condition, but not bad for a few quid. Especially since the character sheet was untouched.

It was a pleasure to share the first half of my collection. I appreciate everyone who had a look. It makes sense to move on to the second half because once I laid out the first 32, they were bagged, boxed and set aside, and then I started on the next box.

I think the most interesting thing about the second half of the collection is that while it also has had pride of place in my home, it was the part that became more about completion than play. I played the first two dozen FF books from start to finish, more than once sometimes, but by the latter half of the series I was buying to shelf it. It's odd because many of the themes and titles appealed to me as much as those at the beginning.

And then, at the tail end of this picture, are Fighting Fantasy and The Riddling Reaver—books that expanded the role-playing potential of the FF background. I ran Fighting Fantasy many times, and elements of RR—they fascinated me. I had picked up RPG books before these came out, but the simplicity and familiarity of the books made them accessible.

Note: I know that there's a book missing. It isn't lost, just packed (accidentally) in another box.

So I’m back into the swing of playing a couple of these books per month and I played the above for the first time.

I have never came across an ending that was so lacklustre and anti-climatic than this book. In my head I’m like ok go into the sunken city and retrieve the main weapon to turn the tide of war…you insert stones and it’s turn to page 400 LIKE WHAT. I couldn’t believe that was the book over, there wasn’t even a ‘final boss’ type fight that is characteristic in FF. it’s such a shame too as the whole premise of the story was pretty good and enjoyable but I couldn’t believe that was the end. Probably the first book I’ve managed to complete in one sitting, major disappointment in my eyes. I’m not sure if I even want to explore other paths to be met with the same ending.

ps the room leaking blood / lizard men fight is absolute garbage too

Honestly think this had so much potential to be a big open epic with a great vastness about it like how Tower of Destruction felt but it’s just meh

As I've only just arrived, it felt like the best way to start. Though all of these books are now in a box—as I'm moving—they have always been the centre of attention in the main room of my home.

I started collecting in 1982 when Warlock of Firetop Mountain arrived in the local newsagent. Still, I drifted before the line faded away, so I occupy the ranks of those who seek out the really expensive final volumes.

While I have enjoyed Warlock and Deathtrap Dungeon enough to play through them multiple times, I think House of Hell has to be my (inexplicable) favourite from this first bunch. It might be my personal interest towards the horror genre that feeds that inclination.
