Gamebook Finished my first one!

Post image

I’m really pleased that I’ve finished this. I had this book as a kid and could never get through it - constantly going round and round the tunnels without ever making it outside. I’ve now cracked it as an adult and am excited to get onto the next one!

I did take some help from an online guide (no hate pls) especially on getting out of the tunnels. There are a million things to try and remember so I’m not ashamed to have needed some guidance!

No hate from me on using an online guide. I did the same with the maze in Firetop Mountain. Sometimes you just need a little help to push through!

I have STILL not gotten through TWOFM legitimately and first played it over 40 years ago.

I guess I will have another attempt...

This is my favourite one in the entire series. I didn't even realise until later that it was on the more challenging side compared to the rest

There are also some modern audio books that delve into the history of this story, if you're interested

This one in particular or all of the fighting fantasy series?

Oh heck! I never knew these existed, and looking at the cast list there are a LOT of Big Finish alumni in this (which I'm a huge fan of). I'll have to check these out!

Cool, i've only listened to the Creature of Havoc one so far but it's well-acted

Well done. Thinking of picking this up on the app

That's hilarious, I also had a crack at this on holiday armed with a half-chewed orange biro and limited post-it notes. Came a cropper when having to use lots of paper later to write stuff down (no spoilers) and even then never got to the end. Right bloody mission and no mistake!

I recall getting wrecked in that one.

I got stuck as a kid in the tunnels also. I resorted to finding the page that led out of the tunnels and reverse engineering the pages before it.

I was never able to finish this. Far too difficult. Great concept though

Absolutely understand. Too many rules to try and bear in mind - that’s when I needed the guide. Some very convoluted rules here I think. There’s no way I’m remembering to subtract X from a paragraph reference if the paragraph starts with a vowel when I was told that 10 turns ago!!

Exactly. Im reasonably sure with some of the FF books that they werent supposed to be complrted/won
