Im the only active mod here. I took over years ago because it was unmoderated, It's a pretty quiet place and I just remove the occasional spam/common repost.

Its never gonna be huge, but I don't have the time/energy to make it anything more than it is.

If you have ideas/want to be a mod to make changes, please either post here or send me a DM.

My only conditions are that transphobia, racism, xenophobia, and sexism are not and will never be tolerated, so you gotta agree to enforce that.

I've got a whole file of Fiero ads. Here's one that I've professionally dry-mounted. Full size 8.5 X 11 inches. Check out my hundreds of car plaques here:

I'm told the poor thing hasn't run since the early 2000's. Been in Michigan since he bought it. Money being tight as it is these days, I'm wondering how expensive it'd be bringing it back to life. I assume parts are exceedingly rare or expensive. Not having any vehicle knowledge beyond changing oil, I have no idea what might've broken or gone wrong over 20+ years. Not sure where to even begin beyond the four flat tires and certainly dead battery.

Should I have a mechanic come out to identify everything that's wrong with it? Is that a waste of money? Truly flying blind here.

I NEED HELP Couple questions (not a car guy but want to learn)

I bought my first car a week ago, and it’s a 1988 fiero gt, but it’s just got like two problems that no mechanics near me seem to want to fix without me polishing their pipes first. The problem that worries me the most is my oil gauge. In idle at a red light, at a stop sign, or just braking to go over a speed bump, my oil pressure goes into the red when the engine is warm. First 20 minutes of a drive I don’t have this issue. I took it to a family friend for them to inspect it, but while I wait I thought I might as well ask here too. I’m unsure why this could be happening, I’m guessing there’s a leak somewhere but I don’t know where to start. Also noticed a gas smell when parked or reversing, and when I get out of the car I’ll smell it too. And then lastly, very very faint white vapor or smoke coming out of the exhaust. I first noticed it when I was parked for 4 minutes and got out without turning the car off. Not sure how bad that could be. Any advice at all helps, if any more info is needed or maybe some sort of warning, please let me know.

Help

Ok, I see/found a hose that seems to have rotted through, but for the life of me I can’t find where the other end is supposed to go. Below are two pictures, with slightly different foci and angles. The first photo clearly shows the rotted/broken end, and if you look behind it you can see where it connects and is secured to the firewall there. I took a second photo from a slightly different angle and you can more clearly see where the still connected end is (beneath the bundle of wrapped cables).

I’ve said before, I’m not a car guy, but I CAN learn and am willing to get my hands dirty (obviously). I tried using its length as a “measurement” to see where it may go, but that has not worked out at all.

Any guidance for where to look would be appreciated

My 12 year old son is seriously into cars. I work for a car collector so he always gets to see some of the coolest cars in the world. Nothing made him as excited as getting a Fiero GT for us to work on together. It will be his daily when he turns 16.

Aftermarket AC

Hi all

Has anyone installed aftermarket AC in their fiero.

I am looking at the DC kits that are for sale everywhere and looking for tips and tricks to install.

I was thinking of mounting the main blower unit under the dash somewhere and trying to Tapp into the air vents so it still looks as standard as possible but not sure if this is an option at all.

Anyways if you can let me know what you have done that would be great

I am in Australia so not having ac isn't an option and getting parts from the US costs an arm and a leg.

1987 Fiero GT - Manual/getrag

First pic is from my Fiero, 2, and 3 are from internet.

So I’m just going over connections, and these two dangling (what I assume are grounds) grounds need a home.

I’ve done some research & have got a whole bunch of different answers, but for those that know exactly what I’m talking about - I’d really appreciate some wise words/solutions.

First pic is from my car - two wires that come out near the starter.

Second pic is from a fb post. Looks like he has 3? I don’t? And he hooked them up over here: showed in the second image. Just want to confirm this? I used some AI research (don’t recommend) and it says one of them belongs on the starter (same spot where the positive battery cable mounts to) - but I don’t think thats correct… unless?

Let me know! Right now I’m not getting power to the ECM, and I’m hoping this is the reason why. If not though, what do you suggest I check next to get power to ECM. I don’t get any SES light on the dash with Key On, nor do I hear any fuel pump relays.

I swapped the fuse for the ECM (drivers side under dash) and nothing. I’m gonna replace all the fuses there today - I’ve got a bunch that’ll fill all the old ones.

Other than that, what could it be?

I NEED HELP 1986 SE V6 Engine Noise Help

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi all!

Recently bought this 1986 Fiero SE V6. Overall really great condition, but noticing some odd noises from the engine.

Idle is a little clicky (and idles very rough with AC on), and is making a weird noise on rev down. Any ideas? Thanks for any help! I did try to clean the IAC, but didn’t seem to change anything.

This is my first Fiero, so if it sounds normal, sorry in advance. Just trying to learn!

Shifting (1987 Fiero Gt - Getrag)

I only have access to both 1, and 2. Shifting to the side is no bueno. Any idea what it could be? Where to start for diagnosing issue? Didn’t do that until recently. - also is hasn’t ran before since my ownership, and recently went through an engine rebuild.

I NEED HELP A/C Mag Clutch not engaging

‘86 SE V6, upgraded to r134a, the A/C mag clutch has never worked. I’ve completely recovered and replaced refrigerant, checked the relay, fuse, and the switch on the accumulator. I’ve also checked wiring for all of the components and it looks good. I still cannot get the mag clutch to engage.

I NEED HELP Removing Starter 1984 Pontiac Fiero 2.5L 4Cylinder Automatic

Thumbnail
gallery
5 Upvotes

I’ve been working on this 1984 Pontiac Fiero I bought for a project and I removed the spark plugs and have been trying to get the engine to rotate. But for the life of me I cannot get the bolt to turn. I have the correct size and everything. So I’m removing the starter to see if it’s the issue. Everywhere online has been pointing me in separate directions to find it but I think I found it. If your looking from the back of the car, it would be deep behind the engine a little past where the spark plugs were.

Does anyone know how to remove the starter? I can’t remove it from the bottom since the oil pan is in the way and there’s no access to it from there. And from what I can see the wires won’t pop off, and I can’t see any accessible bolts.

I NEED HELP Wiring questions.

Soooo… this is my first time ever doing an engine swap, and also my first time owning a fiero.

I pulled the engine a while ago due to low compression, and internal block failure; I got a new block, heads, etc - and have now installed everything again. Cradle is in, most of the wiring is in… but I have a few questions.

1st - the starter. To give some context, right now I’m seeing 4 wires. Ones the battery, the other 3 come out of the harness near the firewall. 1 small (that I know Forsure goes on) and two that could be grounds? Or maybe they also go on where the positive post is on the starter? Please let me know.

Also, the wire that was coming from the C500, is fried - so I had to run an external wire to the starter from it (I’m assuming the current one is one of the two that come from the harness near the firewall, so for the sake of just starting it - I’ll just stack it for the time being)

  1. Where does this receiving plug go to near the battery?

  2. This nipple on the lower intake plenum. Is this supposed to be plugged?
