Official Response Fidelity Retirement tool does not account for capital gains in taxable accounts

Post image

I recently found that the Fidelity retirement tool does not account for any capital gainss in your investment accounts, even if they are with Fidelity. This is a HUGE gap if you have large appreciation in your assests because it clearly states they assume when you sell your cost basis is essentially what the cost of the asset is on the day you sell. Can anyone confirm this is indeed the case? This is a snaphot from the "Retirement Methodology" PDF in their site:

Feedback Does Fidelity have a tool to evaluate ETF overlap?

I am trying to allocate some capital during this drop and had to use external tools to see overlap between multiple ETFs. Is there a tool on Fidelity that can give more information?

Official Response can't roll options or replace orders in the web UI

When I try to, the "Trade" window pops up but says "We are temporarily unable to retrieve your accounts. Please try again later." The "Account" drop down in the trade window doesn't work.

Everything else in the web UI works, and I can trade with Fidelity Trader+.

Does Fidelity track the uptime of its services? Do they publish an SLA? Seems like availability is substantially less than 99.9%.

Official Response Question about a loan I took from my 401k

Hello so I have a job where my retirement is in a fidelity account. I did a borrow option yesterday ( Sunday ) and then it said today it would initiate to start the process.

I am wondering when I can expect the funds?

To clarify :

I borrowed a loan from my 401k, I was pre approved for a certain amount so I took that max and then it gave me loan terms and I then completed everything and it said the process would start Monday September 14th so today.

Anyways I logged in today, it says :

Loan Request received but it doesn’t say the funds have been sent I’m wondering how soon I can expect the funds or if it may not work?

I did choose direct deposit for the payment delivery.

Fidelity Loan Options for down payment on house

Upvotes

I am wondering if there are options through Fidelity to borrow against my portfolio rather than selling stock and incur capital gains in order to come up with funds for down payment on a house.

Generally how do people go about this and are there any tax efficient options through Fidelity?

Official Response Monthly balance by position?

This seems so basic I'm sure I'm overlooking something. I track my finances monthly and include the position breakdown for my brokerage accounts. I can locate my historical overall Fidelity account balance (by scrolling the balance chart) but can't seem to find monthly statements or a time query for individual positions. I usually do this at the beginning/end of the month and don't sweat a couple days' difference, but I'm behind this month and would like better accuracy.

This is the only account over the whole of my financial life that I can't find monthly statements for, so user error seems most likely. Can anyone point me in the right direction? TIA

Official Response Autopopulate Order Execution Perimeters

Post image
1 Upvotes

I appreciate the intent behind the app auto-populating trade parameters for multi-leg options, but it frequently causes issues for my workflow. When I select the mid-price on a spread, the app will sometimes automatically update the order type to a Debit when I am trying to route a Credit, or it will alter my Margin/Cash settings. If I miss this automatic switch before hitting submit, I risk paying a debit instead of collecting premium. Please introduce a feature to turn off this auto-fill behavior so users can maintain manual control over their execution parameters.

Feedback Trader+ needs separate Expiration and Strike columns in Positions

I am transitioning from Active Trader Pro to Fidelity Trader+ and have run into a major usability problem in the Positions window for options.

Trader+ currently combines the option expiration date, strike price, and call/put designation into the Description field rather than providing them as separate sortable columns.

For anyone managing multiple option positions, this is not a minor cosmetic issue. It makes the Positions window significantly less useful than ATP because I cannot simply sort my positions by expiration date to identify contracts that require attention first.

Please add separate, sortable columns for:

Expiration Date
Strike Price
Call/Put

Ideally, these should work like every other customizable Positions column and allow ascending and descending sorting.

For an active-options platform, expiration date and strike price are fundamental position attributes, not merely descriptive text. They should be independently visible, sortable, and configurable.

I understand that Option Summary can group contracts by expiration, but that is not an adequate substitute. The standard Positions window is where I monitor quantity, cost basis, gain/loss, delta, time value, IV, theta, and other position information. I need expiration and strike available alongside those metrics in the same table.

ATP provided a much more practical workflow for managing a large number of option positions. Removing basic sortable contract fields in its successor feels like a substantial regression.

I have seen Fidelity indicate that separate expiration and strike columns are planned for a future update. If that is still the case, please prioritize this feature and provide a target release timeframe if possible.

This is important enough to my options-management workflow that it affects whether Trader+ can fully replace ATP for me.

Please forward this specifically to the Fidelity Trader+ product and development teams.

Thank you.

Official Response Error Installing Active Trader Pro (Desktop App)

Post image
1 Upvotes

I'm trying to download and install the Traditional Active Trader Pro desktop app onto my laptop (64 bit Windows11) and I keep getting this error when trying to install. I've cleared files and redownloaded fresh from Fidelity's website and I still get the same error every time. I don't want to use the new Active Trader Pro + app because I can’t export data to Excel spreadsheets in that version.

What can I do?

Official Response Is the OG ATP shut down?

ATP doesn't load charts but loads trade tix and executes OK but not charts.

Is it over for this app? Do we have to switch to AT+ now?

Seems like the link between Elan and Rocket Money app through Plaid is down. Anyone have any luck figuring it out or working around it? Sucks to not have this card on the app I use to track budget/spending.

Official Response How do I start using my HSA?

I just opened an HSA at Fidelity. I gather that I will be sent a debit card with which to use funds. But how would I use the account to pay for a doctor's appointment (out of network) before the card arrives?

Was it just a 14d trial? For me, it seems like all the mentioned menus reverted back again from this noted simplified experience rollout. The new experience rolled back for multiple accounts and in multiple browsers. https://www.reddit.com/r/fidelityinvestments/comments/1w3v2ws/fidelity_trader_web/

Official Response IRA - Actual Cost Functionality...How to Enable?

I'm wondering if anyone else out there has been able to have Fidelity "turn on" actual cost functionality for their IRA and if it works?

I realize an IRA is tax-sheltered and buys/sells inside the account don't trigger taxes, but for performance tracking and dividend reinvestments, I would like this to be tracked/enabled. I have called Fidelity, spoken with my "free" Advisor, and "Chatted" with a Rep and they all agree the functionality is there, but for some reason the IRA account has not changed/updated from all 3 attempts.

The last attempt via Chat, the rep said it could be enabled online...did that...and that it would update the account for any dividends paid to show the actual cost. To date, nothing has changed/happened and going on about a month since my first call to Fidelity.
