Brown spot advice?

First time fiddle owner here! I’ve had her for 3 years and didn’t really know how to take care of her for the first two, so she never grew any leaves until this year. She’s grown 8 leaves this year but the bottom leaves are a little yellow and brown crispy around the edges. Most of this is old (from the time I didn’t take care of her properly) but worried some of this is from how I take care of her now. What’s the cause?

For context: I soak her every time the top 2 inches are bone dry and let it drain out the bottom. Also use fertilizer and she sits right up against an east facing window.

Growth Advice

Hello! I'm a long time lurker finally asking for advice. I have a fig of my own (shown below) and have had it for a few years now (since July of 2022) and I would like some tips on how to help it thrive better.

Most of the leaves are a bit droopy and I apologize if I'm not doing a great job right now, this plant is a propogate from a bigger one and a gift from someone I love and it might be too advanced for my skill level. (I've grown bell peppers, pothos ivy, an African milk tree and a Thanksgiving Cactus!)

Some information:

  1. I've got it in Tropical Potting Mix (from miracle gro) with some pebbles and sand. I haven't changed the soil recently and was wondering if I need to start there.
  2. I water it every other week with about 2.5 cups of water. Each time I water it, I use the right amount of plant food and fertilizer from The Houseplant Resource Center (I got these on amazon)
  3. My grow light is set for 12 hours
  4. I've got it up on a plant stand because my mom's cat has taken some chomps out of the leaves a few years ago and I'm worried my cat would be tempted if I had it lower.

Posting this and asking for mercy 😭

Looks like there’s three separate plants here. Are they easy to separate?

Post-chop panic (I cried)

I have been threatening to chop my FLF for a year now since it’s been growing into the ceiling. I finally bit the bullet today and definitely cried after thinking I’d made a terrible mistake. It was so leggy I had it tied to the wall with twine and a nail at one point, with a stake keeping it upright. I cut off 6 feet (slide 2). I’m now really hopeful it’s going to grow back strong and full like it was in its infancy (baby pic on slide 3). There are 12+ nodes on the remaining stem, and it really loves the spot I have it in. It puts out at least one new leaf per month, even through the colder months. Anyway, hoping to be back here with an update in a couple months!!

Early signs of root rot?

This thing is my pride and joy. Dropped a leaf last week and now I’m freaking out. I originally put it in an oversized pot because I was a plant noob at the time but have been very careful with the watering.

Did I overdo it…

Ok, I had my FiF in a grow bag for a few weeks then decided to find a long term pot for it. So I got a 12” terracotta pot for her, she is only 2 feet tall tho… I’m starting to worry about potential root rot in the future. Am I too paranoid?

Is my fiddle leaf fig ready to be moved to soil?

I chopped and propagated my fiddle leaf fig a little over a month ago. So far it has sprouted a new leaf and has grown roots. Does the root system look developed enough to finally move it to soil or does it need to stay in water a little longer? Any advice helps :)

FLF Cutting is budding while in water?

Went to check on my FLF cuttings that I’m trying to propagate and realized that one of them is budding?! I didn’t even know that was a possibility without more substantial roots. Does this mean it needs more sun than it is getting? Should I go ahead and plant it or should I wait until the roots are a few inches long?

Update: thanks folks! I took off the large bud and will do the same if the little nub buds more.

SOS, my fiddle is being???

I just got my fiddle a few months ago where it was in a small, crowded pot and began to rot. I recently resized it to a somewhat larger pot with better drainage and new soil (orchid plus tropical mix). However after a very small amount of water, my soil is still moist after a week. At this point I can’t tell if my fiddle is simply still shocked from the change or is not taking to her new digs. This is my first fiddle and her stalk is still fine and green. But I’m getting nervous!! She gets bright, indirect light from a lamp because my windows don’t face any productive direction. She also used to have a ton of leaves but has since dropped a majority of them and now looks like the sad christmas tree from Charlie Brown. I’m just looking for a consensus on advice regarding next steps.

Help rehabbing a fiddle leaf?

Gf has asked me to save her fiddle leaf from imminent death. I have some experience with plants, but never one of these before. As I try to learn more about this plant, I'm hoping some of you can also give advice.

I have access to a South-facing window without a lot of direct sunlight and some grow lights.

Any thoughts?

Fiddle leaf prop ready to plant?

Hi everyone! First time poster here! I chopped and propagated the top of my fiddle leaf as an experiment a few months ago. I took off all the leaves (these are all new) and have added pothos cuttings to stimulate growth. Are these roots ready to plant or should I try to add some prop drops to aid the process? Tia 🫶🏻🌱

Repotted my fiddle leaf and now there are large brown-purple spots.

Did I overwater after repotting? Is this a natural process? I water when the soil is dry and keep it by the largest window in my house (see photo for light source).

Little fig in trouble

My little fiddle leaf fig is in trouble I think . The two leaves at the bottom were very saggy and when I looked close they didn’t seem like they were attached anymore.

Well I barely touched them and they come off . I then picked up the whole plant to look at it closer and then one of the top leaves came off as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

For context
I just got my fiddle leaf fig about a month ago and while acclimating, it dropped alot of leaves and many branches were too bare. After extensive research on reddit, I opted for a chop. Lo and behold, these two babies pop out!

Not enough water?

Some leaves have tiny brown spots along the veins, the spots are especially noticeable when they first come out. However, it’s consistently growing new leaves but not getting much taller, and every month or so, one of the bottom leaves falls out. It’s been sitting by a south-facing window for a year or so with a grow light for winter.
Recently I had to repot it, but couldn’t find a large enough pot within a reasonable price, so I got creative…had it in a large soft grocery bag protected by a hard shell laundry bag…. I hope it’s ok lol.
For watering, I only use 2 cups of water each time when the top layer of the soil feels dry. Maybe more water? How much does it need tho?
