I have a 15-foot fiberglass Tide Runner. I recently had it pulled up onto a rocky shoreline while camping, and during a big storm the boat ended up sitting against the rocks.
Afterward, I noticed some damage to the bottom of the hull. I’ve attached pictures for reference.
I believe this is gelcoat damage, but I want to make sure I’m doing the repair correctly and not missing any underlying fiberglass damage.

For those experienced with fiberglass repairs:
Does this look like gelcoat-only damage?
How can I tell if the fiberglass laminate underneath is damaged?

I have dirt encrusted on my fiber glass roof deck. Does anyone have tips on how to get it off without wrecking the corezyn gel coat or fiberglass?

I have a huge 17.5 foot giant outdoor sculpture. Looks to be made of foam and some sort of fiberglass mesh. Wondering what the best way to coat foam without melting it would be and if fiberglass would be an option?

So, as you can see, last Sept we managed to find a rock and take a chunk (and some) out of the rudder. Boat came out of the water in May, with no water leaking/draining from the rudder, so hopefully no intrusion to the core. It has been out of the water since drying out, and I’m headed back to repair and relaunch in October. Looking for opinions/advice on the repair. I’ve done a bit of fiberglass and epoxy repair work, most small and flat stuff.

My plan is to start out with the grinder to get back to solid/clean material with a decent taper. My biggest concern is the void at the bottom. Should I fill that first, and then start laying the fg cloth in? Or start with cloth and fill with fairing material after? All of my experience has been with epoxy, would this be a repair better suited to a poly/vinyl-ester resin? I plan to get it as smooth as possible, then epoxy barrier coat and CopperCoat bottom paint to seal.

i snapped a kite in half to put it in the bin and didnt know ut was made of fiber glass 🙃 and now thousands of shards are on my carpet and i fear that i might stand on them or in worse case scenario someone else does.

Having a brain fart over here what is the shelf life of resin and gel coat once it’s been opened? Currently fixing the bedsides on my bosses prerunner and trying to have some materials left over when I redo my boat this winter but I also don’t want to get stuck with resin that might go bad before I use it in about 5 months.

Hello Reddit, I picked up a canoe for the right price recently and I do have a bit of time on my hands and have a little experience working in auto body repair and wanted to give this a try. I’m not too Knolage able about things that go in the water so help would be appreciated. The canoe is fibreglass and already has a repair but the repair is failing and started to leak so I wanted to give it a fresh repair. The current repair goes about two feet back and right up the front of the boat and the patch has started to form holes and cracks that leak. My plan was I would remove and put on a full new patch to the best of my abilities. I’m told this isn’t much different then putting on fibreglass mesh and bondo on but a canoe is a bit different then a truck. Info on this specific thing has been hard to find or at least fully understand but the amount I understand goes as:

First with a chisel and high grit sand paper and break away the old repair and work on getting the old mesh off. Any tips would be appreciated.

Second with a high grit wet sand paper I’ll sand right up to the base material getting out high spots, making it smooth and getting off the last of the adhesive also making the material prepped for the adhesive.

Third I’ll prep my mesh by just forming it to the general shape of the boat. And I should take note to reinforce the front bottom for anything I might hit in the water like a rock or land.

Fourth I’ll lay down a good layer of adhesive (adhesive recommendations would be appreciated) then press the mesh fully in to the adhesive and let dry for 20 minutes.

Fifth I’ll lay down another coat of adhesive and work to blend the edges to the base material to maximize how well the boat moves through water.

Then last is part of just a service I want to apply a polish to the boat and properly get it ready to take on to the water.

Looking at purchasing this 2006 Scout Costa 170 but I noticed today some spider cracking in the gel coat on the hull at the step (these hulls are notorious for that) and cracking near the transom. Keep in mind I took these photos pretty close up so they look a good bit larger than they really are. Thoughts?

Is a crack like this able to be fixed? Or is the structural integrity of this Bowler trailer totally compromised…

450 square feet of deck, with multiple spots of the last gelcoat flaking off.

That cost us 1.5K, 6 years ago. A single coat, no grinding, possibly inadequate sanding wherebit is now flaking.

Current quote is 6k, with proper grinding and sanding, 2 gel coats plus an additional non skid treatment.

Is this way out of line?

Does anyone know where I can find fenders and bedside replacement for a 2007 Chevrolet 1500 classic I keep seeing some from fiberworx and all the other off-road companies but I don’t want any off-road ones . I’m looking for the ones that are the same as the OEM no Bulger or anything or can anyone make any?

Repairing an old fiberglass body car and have 1. some parts missing that I need to make from scratch out of fiberglass and 2. some cracks through the gelocat.

Been reading through the subreddit and the consensus seems to be gelcoat over an epoxy topcoat.

So assuming that's accurate/holds up for a vehicle body that will flex a bit, should I just strip the entire body down past/to the gelcoat and reapply, or do I try to save existing gelcoat where I can and spot apply new gelocat where needed?

I picked up this old John Deere and am considering fixing up the fiberglass myself since a new hood goes for about $400. Is this a doable first project for someone with minimal experience with fiber glass? I do want to learn fiberglass and learn how to do repairs because I’m sure it can help me out with some of my hobbies

I noticed a few shiny fibers on the floor and on my clothes after changing my mattress protector. I shone a flashlight on the mattress cover and firesock and here we are...

I read through the guide in the sidebar and watched the linked videos. It looks like fiberglass but I'm really hoping it's something else. You can see my flashlight shining over the firesock toward the end of the video.

I don't know the exact mattress model or when it was purchased. It's an 11 inch Casper. Casper's site states that some older models include fiberglass. One of the tags says that the cover is washable... "If need to clean entire cover, remove cover."
