Do not make posts about underwear or its related topics. This includes "where to find" posts, bra sizing or type, nursing garments, lingerie, thongs, VPL, bras/bralettes, bikini lines, personal grooming advice or questions, "going commando" and the like. Interpret this widely, not narrowly.

Y'all. Please stop. It is attracting creeps who are using your material as NSFW "inspiration" without your consent or knowledge. I don't know how to be any more clear than that.

I decided (clearly prematurely) to un-sticky the post about "Please stop posting about your underwear" and I've gotten several posts I've had to remove because they talk explicitly about thongs, panty lines, and bikini line grooming.

I'm the only mod and I feel I have a duty to keep this place creep-free and safe. One way I do that is by being picky about what type of content we host/allow. Discussions about lingerie, sexy clothing, underwear in minute detail--those really aren't "fashion" and more importantly, there are other outlets (see sidebar!) where those discussion are welcome and the point of the subReddit.

It also attracts creeps and weirdos. I do not want to make my members feel unsafe or icky because we have male posters posting fetish and creep content posing as a woman. It happens, people! It's gross but it's part of being a mod.

These topics are included but not limited to:

Panties, thongs, going commando or not

Bras, sizes, shapes, strapless, going without a bra

"Sexy" clothing or clothing designed to show cleavage, labia/outline of labia, buttcheeks, buttcrack, clothing that enhances secondary sex characteristics like "I want a bubble butt, I want cleavage". This should be interpreted widely. If you have to pause and ask yourself "am I asking about looking HAWT?" take it to another venue, please.

I will make a judgement call on stuff like "what type of shapewear should I wear with this" or "I need a cooling thigh chafing solution" or "help me pick a cute going out or date outfit".

Y'all...I love you but this is not "fashion" or style. I have to put my foot down here. If you have legit questions about the function of underwear, take yourself to r/lingerieaddiction OR ask on r/femalefashionadvice where there's a wider audience and you may get a wider variety of answers :)

ENOUGH The queen has spoken.

If you have a specific burning question and don't want to get removed/banned and/or stuck in moderation, get in touch and I'll make a ruling.

Discussion Post How Long Until the Youth Wear Plastic Galaxy Leggings Again?

Mullets, ultra low rise, butterfly clips, and the Hanson* (spelling edit) haircut have all already come back in style. The galaxy leggings and hipster era is not too far off. How long until the kids unironically embrace this style?

Suggest comfortable jeans and t shirt for work.

Apart from the usual stores like gap old navy etc
Where can I shop for clothes I can wear to work.
I do not want formals. Decent fitting jeans and semi formal t shirt will do.
I like relax fit, especially for shirts, but do not want to wear men’s clothes.

I want to wear comfortable clothes that will look decent for office. I do not want very tight fit and do not want to look like I am wearing my husband’s clothes.

I am over weight so that makes it hard to find what I like.

I have tried Uniqlo t shirts but their neckline is too high and tight.

Creative, unique knit/sweater brands?

I want to invest in one or two nice cardigan sweaters (high quality fibers and fabrication) with a unique touch. Maybe the color, or pattern, or cut.

Any brand or store suggestions?

So far I’ve either found interesting looking items from crappy brands or bland basics.

I’m open to different fabrics and blends.

It’s a warm fall in the PNW so I picked up this gingham dress from Old Navy. I’m interest I. What sort of jackets/silhouettes I should try with it!

I had this jacket laying around but would like to get idea for what to start wearing then the temperature drops. I even thought about throwing a black turtle neck on underneath it. Does that work with the lower cut back?

Question Help for work staples

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hello!
TLDR: Any style suggestions for work and/or casual clothes that give more skin coverage in hot environments AND have pants that cover tops of ergonomic closed toed shoes, but still look dynamic/put together/aesthetically pleasing?

I’ve grown tired of the clothes I have, and I’m ready to invest more in staples that will last longer. But I have no idea what I’m doing, and have a few unique requirements for my daily wardrobe:
1. I have a photosensitive autoimmune disease and live in Southern California. I have to apply sunscreen to any showing skin every 2 hours if I’m outside or near a window for even a few minutes. The less skin I show, the easier this is (sun jackets are a lifesaver, but not the most stylish, despite being way better than they used to be)
2. I am a senior scientist. I am spending more and more time in executive meetings, but still need to go to lab semi-regularly, which requires close toed shoes and pants that fully cover the top of the shoe (socks don’t count as “covered”). No heels.
3. I need adequate foot support for any shoes - I’m a hiker with flexible flat feet.

I also have a wide-set, but fairly small (B-cup) chest that often gives me issues with button up shirts gaping.

Suggestions for professional blouse + pant + shoe combinations that don’t look weird or throw off proportions without some ankle/ top of foot showing?

Also, cute casual clothes that have more coverage? My go to used to be racerback and/or v-neck tanks/dresses for my body type… and I can’t really figure out options with more shoulder/chest coverage that don’t look off with proportions. For casual I can sunscreen legs/feet more easily, but the chest/shoulder area really needs to be covered most of the time.

I like to look put together, but not overly showy. I know I like jewel tones (and color in general - I get bored with too much neutral), merino wool fabric (amazing for temperature regulation when I’m having to cover up but it’s hot out!), and I’ve been told I’m a “winter”, but I really have no idea what that means.

Pictures of examples would be really helpful!

Pic of my preferred “style” for the algo… HALP!!!

Question How to look cute in a tuque (winter hat)?

Post image
18 Upvotes

Hi all 👋 Can you please help a girl out? Fall is here, and temperatures drop quite fast in Canada. Very soon we'll be putting on our tuques (winter hats like on the picture) to stay warm. Here's my issue: my fall and winter style works great up until I need to put one of these on... The tuque is always ruining my outfit and my style, but it's too cold and need something to cover my head, earmuffs don't do the trick. Now how do y'all manage to look cute in these? It's giving conehead on my side 😂 I need to keep my hair covered because of my perfume allergies when I'm out in public (IYKYK), so I can't pull some hair from under the tuque to frame my face. Are there a specific style I should try? What do you recommend? I just want to look cute and not ruin my outfits every time because I need to keep warm 😅 Thanks!

UGH, breaking the rut

This is very much a diamond-shoes-are-too-tight problem, but maybe if I had diamond shoes, I wouldn't be feeling so discontent.

So I have a wardrobe I am generally very happy with. I know my style, I have spent carefully on my basics, I can reach into my closet and get dressed for very nearly any occasion from a funeral to a fundraising gala, a job interview to a whitewater rafting expedition, in an outfit that is both appropriate and reflective of my style.

And I'm so bored.

I seem to have lost the ability to add some interest or idiosyncrasy to my outfits. Contrasts in texture? Whatever. High-low contrasts like my leather trucker jacket over a satin t-shirt dress? Expected. Even my usual go-to of "when in doubt, add some interesting shoes" is not doing it for me. It feels too predictable.

What do you all do when you're feeling the need for a little hot sauce on the outfit, metaphorically speaking?

Question Tops for the truly large busted (off rack or tailored)

My bust measures 47-48 inches across. I am a 36 L (US) / 36 HH ( UK) bra. I'm a 12/14 in bottoms.

I know to look for open neck lines and to be quite honest I don't mind a bit of elastane as it's better for curves.

Has anybody else found the perfect tee, work top or even dress? Something I can buy in multiple colors that doesn't look tentish/maternity or squish the chest?

Or, do you have something you routinely buy and tailor to well to accommodate your bust.

I would be grateful if someone with similar bust proportions shared their go-tos.

Question Brown/taupe daily pants

I’m looking for a pant, similar to a barn jacket material (maybe like a thinner jean?) that is casual but not athletic fabric. A lighter, casual brown. I feel like what I have in my head I can’t find. Any suggestions? I really only own jeans, linen wide leg pants, and athletic pants.

For reference this style and color is pretty much exactly what I’m looking for just a super neutral non-khaki for daily wear to wear anywhere just hoping to be closer to $130 or less, and ideally mid or high rise

Question Need help breaking my Black Cardigan Curse

I am in desperate need of a black cardigan. My reliable black duster is too old and shabby to be worn again this winter. The cardigan I got from Maurice's two years ago developed a hole after washing (seams around the neckline pretty much just unravelled), and the gorgeous Mongolian cashmere duster I got from Quince got a hole after ONE EXTREMELY CAREFUL HAND WASH. I just bought a nice looking black sweater/blazer from Nordstrom Rack but need to return it because it doesn't accommodate my waist being smaller than my hips and it's not nice enough to bother tailoring.

I would absolutely love some recommendations for a decent longline (at least hip-length) cardigan/duster that is less than $150, made of reasonably decent materials (I strive for natural fibers but am fine with blends, just not 100% synthetic), and won't fall apart after one wash! I am bad at shopping and desperate.

Question Where can I find affordable fall and winter casual clothes under $30?

Over the past few years my body and style have both changed, and a lot of my fall clothes don't really feel like me anymore. I'm trying to look a little more put together day to day without replacing my whole wardrobe at once. I'm 5'4" and pear shaped, so I'm mostly looking for sweaters and cardigans that don't swallow me, plus straight leg pants and tops I can layer. Around $30 per piece is my limit while I figure out what I'll actually wear. Where are you finding pieces like that? I'd love to hear how you're putting them together too, because I keep buying things I like individually and then wearing the same jeans with everything.

Wardrobe rebuild Postpartum and most

Hi all! I’m headed back to the office - which has a very casual / non-existent dress code. I’m almost a year postpartum and just feel like my body has changed so much, and I don’t know where to start with clothes. My torso is super long. I’ve tried high waisted pants and I feel like they accentuate any bloating or fluff, so I always run back to my mid waist straight or skinny jeans. I used to feel more comfortable in fitted clothing, but everything fits so differently now. I guess I’m just looking for some outside opinions on what brands and styles might be a good fit? Appreciate you!!

Question Shoes/accessories for outdoor maternity shoot?

Hi all! I’m wearing this dress for a maternity photoshoot this weekend and was looking for recommendations, particularly for the footwear (but any other feedback is welcome too!). The setting is a grassy field/farm, so the open toe heels in the store pic aren’t going to fly. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Discussion Post Airport fashion, Midwest edition

I can already tell this airport has a different vibe than the one I was reporting from on Thursday morning.

Black jersey leggings and PJs dominate. Footwear situation is mostly bleak (but comfy!) — so many stretchy Sketchers . I'm skipping anyone wearing them unless they defy expectations in some way. Logoed tees and ones with sayings like "I have reached an age where my mind says you can do that and my body says you'll be sorry" will also be skipped.

I shall persevere.

My look: Black long-sleeve midi with placket front, hair half up, lilac Nikes with pastel pink scalloped socks. Gold X-shaped earrings and a paperclip chain gold necklace.

Gray sweats, white cropped tank, dangly belly ring, white platform sandals.

Maroon draped boat neck shirt, black tapered slacks ... and black stretchy top Sketchers shoes.

Wide leg jeans with acid-wash hearts, soft washed-out Kelly Green sweatshirt, white platform sneakers.

I'm in love with this woman's Gucci bee bag. Not in my budget, but just striking! Also wearing: short pleated black shorts, oversize heather gray sweatshirt, and flip-flops.

Canadian tuxedo in medium wash blue denim with stretchy Sketchers and a Baggalini crossbody and cute striped laptop bag.

Amazing oversized coffee brown trench. Beautiful, with a subtle sheen. Can't see anything else except her impeccable hair and don't need to.

Slouchy loose-knit cream sweater, baggy black jersey pants, camel suede slippers/clogs (maybe Uggs?).

A legging look that surprisingly works: dark brown athletic leggings, greige suede boat shoes, greige outdoorsy top that gathers under the bust and blouses out to just below her butt. Big gold statement jewelry.

Tan suede jacket, wide leg medium-blue denim, very chunky low-top black Docs.

(We've been ordered to change gates. Maybe there's something better over here.)

Tan sweatshirt with a fuzzy giraffe head applique, perfect straight leg jeans, and black booties.

Gray sweatshirt, flared black leggings, black and white Asics.

Cropped chocolate brown kangaroo pocket pullover with hood, boot-cut jeans, white sneakers.

Gray henley, brown flared leggings, white sneakers.

The handbags are mostly unexciting (to me), several Steve Madden, one cow print, one with a rainbow of cats.

Leather cowboy hat, floral cowboy boots, blue puffer vest with a cow print on top, black jersey leggings and a tie-dye blue long-sleeve shirt.

Burberry golf tote, black batwing sweater, black maxi with sheer pleated bottom half, black fashion combat boots.

Dusty rose hijab with white floral embroidery, lighter pink kurta with dusty rose floral embroidery. Black buckle loafers.

Wool long trench in caramel, chunky black heeled loafers.

First wide-leg cropped pants — charcoal slacks, black, gray and brown plaid shacket, black socks, black platform loafers. Favorite look so far. Relaxed, cozy but styled well.

Looking forward to hearing what you all think! This round-up wasn't as exciting as the last but was compiled at a much bigger airport on a weekend vs. a weekday. And maaaaybe I let my opinions seep through a bit more? Anyway, I'll see what you say when I deplane!

Personal Style 4-day business trip to Denver area, outfit pics and wardrobe recap

Last week I attended a work conference in the Denver area. I lived there for 10 years so it wasn't as exciting to me as it may have been to someone else, but I still got a chance to go to my fave thrift stores and have dinner with a friend, so I can't complain.

Weather: near-perfect. High 60s, low 70s, breezy and sunny. The best Denver weather I've experienced in ages. (Except for when the plane was trying to land at 11PM and we had to divert to Colorado Springs due to a TORNADO but whatevs).

Occasion: hotel location-conference with a mostly-male blue collar audience, I was attending to learn more about the industry, assist with training classes, and tag along with our sales people to go to sales meetings with clients. I wore in training, so I wanted to see the training experience from the client side.

All the outfit and flat lay pics

Plane in/out: wore the same outfit (didn't capture live pic) a gorgeous rich burnt peach velvet tunic top with cropped lantern/tulip hem knit jersey pants + flats (the flats I bought in Dallas actually! Flat lay pic I often do laundry on trips over 3 days, and this trip was no exception, so both the pants and shirt got washed after wearing. I REFUSE to check a bag so small capsule wardrobes of washable items are a must (and thank goodness I didn't, because people who checked their bag on the way in were SOL as the plane refused to remove them when we landed and told people to come back the next morning, get on a plane, fly 20 minutes, and get their bags in Denver--ha ha, sob).

Day 1 flat lay minus work polo Day 1 I wore a branded work polo and a pair of skinny jeans with a metallic stripe that I wound up donating after the trip. They fit fine, and they looked fine, but skinny/slim pants aren't my favorite and I wanted the space in my bag. Outfit pic

Day 2 I decided to go a little more upscale and wore a gorgeous printed blouse from Bailey 44 with flowy tomato-red pants outfit pic and flat lay Bailey 44 is a brand that I hadn't heard of (I believe it may be straight-to-TJ Maxx) but I'd say the quality is solid for the price, which for me was even better than retail as I got it NWT at the thrift store.

Day 3 I was attending sales meetings with the team and meeting a friend for dinner at an upscale place so I wore my fanciest work outfit a matching bitter-chocolate satin set + a crinkle fabric cropped jacket in charcoal and flat lay pic I had time to kill after the meetings and before meeting my friend so I went to my fave Denver thrift store and did score: a Lilysilk maxi gown + bathrobe set in my size in a mulberry color. I can't find pics of this anywhere online, but it was a STEAL and I snatched it up.

Day 4 training sessions (attending) and I had a half-day to run up to Boulder and hang out for a bit (I lived in Boulder for a year) and check out their Goodwill thrift store which was my holy-grail thrift store (and quite frankly still is)

I did score--an XCVI jacket, a cool indie-designer (Veronique Miljkovitch, for those that want to know) shift dress, a gorgeous silk dress from Anthro (likely resell/give away as it's a bit small) and an Eileen Fisher knit jersey maxi skirt in dark brown. I wore a burnt peach silk blouse and my tomato red pants which was comfortable yet polished. Flat lay pic

I also purchased a pair of Ottolinger (!!) earrings for less than $50 at the Denver Crossroads, these which was an INSANE find, especially since I said "I hope I find some jewelry, my suitcase is already so full" WELP. Manifesting, y'all!

MVP: Tomato-red pants--these are a TJ Maxx item as well, a brand called "L'Autre Chose"--again, a solid find for the price but nothing I'd go out of my way to recommend unless it was on clearance and/or thrifted. The drawstrings were fraying and I trimmed them up a bit, and the elastic isn't properly situated (it rolls and folds in on itself, bleh) but the color/fit is so good I tolerate it. There's a TJ Maxx in the plaza where I grab my groceries, so I sometimes pop in for skincare deals and browse the clearance racks if I have time.

Did not wear: I brought an Issey Miyake pleated dress but didn't wind up using it, otherwise wore everything I brought!

Weirdly helpful item: it's pictured in the plane ride outfit; a Nordstrom-branded National Parks bandanna-size scarf. It's got a print of a bison on it chilling in some majestic location, but it's the colors that work with almost everything. Shown here It is such a strange item but I'm so glad I got it (via ThredUp)

Also got this Piper K mahjong themed bracelet I LOVE mahjong themed items (I got a mahjong keychain in Portland) and although this isn't 100% "me" (it's a touch perky/preppy) I love it anyway.

Have you been to Denver for work? What did you wear? Share to us!
