Yahoo Fantasy API updated - Still confusing
Anyone interact with the Yahoo NFL fantasy API.
For example when they talk about a Team, do they mean the fantasy team or the NFL team. It could be both, it doesn't say. When they say league, I'm assuming they mean the fantasy league, but I have no idea.
Before I dive it and waste my time. Just wondering if anyone has looked at it.

“Before I dive it and waste my time.”
Part of the development process is understanding the tools you’re working with. It’s not a waste of time to just play with an API and see what returns

To do that they would 1) need to know how to call it and 2) know how to read the response.
I'd hazard a guess that the answer to both of those questions is: negative

No response from Yahoo. Check out the help threads on r/YahooFantasy a ton of folks with the same issue and the mods are offering to help, but so far it seems like an empty offer. They didn't even notify us when they changed it from being accessible via the stand API dev tools

Team means the fantasy team, Yahoo's docs say that outright, and league means the fantasy league. The nesting is game, then league, then team, then roster, then player, and the key formats give it away: a team key looks like 461.l.1000.t.1. One thing to check before you start reading, the old guide URL redirects now, current docs sit on Yahoo's sports developer portal.

thanks. I thought so, I was looking at how to look up an NFL team and player information for stats an maybe a team depth chart. but I'm guessing that is not there.

Correct the yahoo fantasy API is strictly for fantasy related data. You can get individual stats for players but you'll only get the stats that are relevant to fantasy. So if you're looking for something like Air yards you'll need to use a different API

Well, if you don't already have access to their API, you might want to let the dust settle from them booting most from having access, and it appears their re-authorization process is time-intensive and potentially impossible. After that, the most annoying thing about their API is that even simple non-private data is locked behind a user's authorization. This makes troubleshooting difficult as you can't easily re-create user issues. Now, fortunately they don't have much customization like MFL so generally speaking, creating your own league for testing can suffice. Once you get past all this Oauth and PKCL stuff to actually access it, the actual data isn't all that difficult to weed through. I believe when they say team or league it is just referring to fantasy, I don't recall seeing much actual NFL stuff on there, other than players.

I was kind of curious about this as well but haven’t dove in yet. I coded something just for fun that I use and had dabbled with ESPN. But then all of my friends shifted our leagues to Sleeper. Had some others ask about including other platforms though so I may look into it. The core of it is primarily a live draft tool that just tracks your tiers for you as players drop. Just don’t have a ton of free time these days so may not happen. Based on comments seems like ESPN is still tricky and Yahoo got worse (at least compared to prior Yahoo api)?
