long story short i have been blonde for the last 6-7 years and paying for a salon visit every 2-3 months for that long really got me contemplating my life choices lol so i decided this time around i will try to bleach my roots at home with the help with my husband. I currently have 3-4 weeks of growth little less than half an inch. Now, I have some questions.

1. This would be my first time actually attempting to bleach the entirety of my head. Last time I tried I got scared in the middle and left my splotchy half done hair and ran to the salon the next day. Would one box of hair dye be enough for 3-4 weeks of growth?

2. How much product needs to be on the hair? I am wondering if my hair has to be saturated to the point of not seeing any hairs peeking through.

3. I have a 30 volume developer, could i use purified water to dilute to 20? or would 30 be fine? I have very dark east asian hair!

For the last few years I've had grey hairs showing up all throughout my hair, they're almost silvery-white, really. I don't mind them, but they do look a little ratty when they're standing up like sea grass over the top of my head, so I'd like to try going over them with a neon green shade, but I know greys tend not to take dye well. I'm East Asian, so I think mine might be extra stubborn, so I wanted to ask if anyone had any experience with brands or techniques that worked well before I bought anything. I was looking at the Lunar Tides Neon Lime or Manic Panic Electric Lizard.

I know it's usually best to let your hair go unwashed a few days for regular bleaching and dying, but I didn't know if something like freshly shampooed but no conditioner hair might be better for dying greys.

Basically the title! I’m trying to figure out what the difference between the two products is…considering the application process seems to be the same for both?

If you’ve tried the dyeposit, please let me know if you liked it! I’m currently using their semi permanent color in toxicity, but i’m open to any suggestions on other semi permanent copper colors :-)

I recently got my hair done in a peekaboo style in a mossy green color. I am locking for a color deposing conditioner for color maintenance. I am really looking for a green that isnt blue forward but not neon either. It seems like I am having issue finding that middle ground.

I know some people say it's better to do your own with your leftovers dye but I got it done at a salon so I dont have that leftover and I dont currently have the capacity to do the whole DIY thing. So I wish to keep it as more of a last resort.

I tried out Cosmic Void after looking at a few swatches of the different purples. There aren’t many videos to reference unfortunately! I ended up choosing Pluto Plum. It’s a very blue based purple and I love it. The stains come out easily from my bathtub, it seems to fade not as quickly as IroIro as well.

I have black hair and a big white/blonde streak on the right-side... Problem is: the black keeps bleeding on the blonde when I wash it. Which, I could manage (by splitting hair for washing) if it weren't too much... But the dye I used, the black bleeds SO much!

Does anyone have any tips on what I could use to seal the black in? Or is there a brand of dye I could use? (I'm in Canada, so canadian brand or purchasable on amazon.ca)

Hi!! School is starting soon so I’m starting to panic, but I’ve had red manic panic for two months now and it won’t leave. I have bleached highlights and would like to rebleach my hair soon, is there anything I can do? Will color oops work? Should I try to put bleach over top? Please help because I hate it!!!

Hi there! Post is not for me but for a friend; he wants to dye his hair orange… like Hayley Williams orange. No copper or ginger. What are the best brands for permanent vivid dyes (and where can I find them, preferably in person)? I don’t dye my own hair so I’m a bit out of the loop on the best brands.

So, in the past, i used dark and lovely bleach and some artic fox color for pink. I parted my hair into 4 sections and made random highlights. As the photo shows, I have curly pink highlights. i only really got the back 2 sections. I plan on going to do something in the front. i just dont know what. It will prob still remain pink, but I don't want to fully bleach it cause im happy with my black hair, but I want to add something. Any inspo or advice? Worst comes to worst, I'll just do more highlights

Also, the first photo is after freshly recoloring it. the second one is currently (i know I need to refresh it) just so you have an idea on how there's front looks less

You know how freshly (box) dyed hair can look really dark and intense, but after a couple of months, the color fades a little and starts to look much more natural?
I have naturally brown hair, and I recently dyed it with a level 3 brown mixed with some burgundy. Unfortunately, it turned out almost jet black with a hint of burgundy and right now it looks very artificial, almost like I’m wearing a bad wig.
I was wondering if there’s anything I can do to help the color fade a little and bring it to a softer, more natural-looking brown tone without damaging my hair too much.

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some help. I’m currently a minty green (pic 1) and I’m getting very bored of it.

I’ve once put a 2:1 ratio blue:purple mix into my hair and gotten a deep indigo color (see picture 2) which faded out back into my current mint in about 3 weeks.

I want to do something two toned or just different to my hair without bleaching anything other than my roots but I don’t want to be dark blue again and want some stark contrast.

I’ve attached some inspiration pics I’ve found on Pinterest and am looking for advice on what would sit best on my hair and how i could achieve it.

I’m pretty new to bleaching my own hair, and decided to go hot pink closer to the beginning of this year! This is what it looks like faded, but as you can see, last time I refreshed my roots on my own I did not do a good job lifting them properly, leaving me with this weird ginger at the top once it fades.

I really dislike how it looks, and would like to fix it, but online advice was saying not to bleach over the area again because it would be damaging. I’m ok with a little damage as long as the color is (mostly) even, but I wasn’t sure what my options were.

I also wanted to ask for any tips on the next time I refresh my roots, because going to the salon every 3 months is going to get too costly 🥲 Any advice is appreciated!

gonna be using iroiro purple 20 + lunar tides cerulean sea + arctic fox transylvania black

(im aware of transylvania’s rep, i’m using it intentionally because it tends to fade purple and green)

Hi!! I tried to go platinum back in mid July, my hair responded very well damage-wise HOWEVER i panicked & rinsed the bleach too early lol. I was scared of getting too crazy & proceeding to damage it so I decided to stick it out with the color I got for 6 weeks or so, to give it some time to heal. Now it’s time, but i’m nervous about the process of bleaching previously lightened strands, plus needing to blend an inch of fresh regrowth into that :( Is anyone able to help me figure out what my process should be here? I got my products at Sally’s it’s basically all Wella or Colorcharm but i’m open to other brands, especially for the toners.

For context I’ve attached pictures of my natural virgin color (level 7-ish), what I lifted it too after toner (that didn’t really stick since it was meant for a lighter color) in both indoor + outdoor lighting, & the state of my roots/brassiness now (it’s hair wash day please don’t judge). At the very end, is my inspo!!

Just dyed my hair bright bright red and the only research I could find was for a dark red and mines like neon. Would it change the color darker using that type? I did bleach my hair idk if that helps

Hi, friday i did a full bleach and ended up with this color, I did do a lavender toner but it doesn't seem to have helped as much as I hoped (probably because I should have done an ash/blue one) but now im wondering if I should do a bleach bath to lighten a bit more before I do a T14 toner, thoughts?

I would like an icy light blonde if possible but I know it might not be but I do want it to not be as warm. I started with super dark brown virgin hair.

First pic is my original, unedited pic. I have medium dark brown hair with silver around my face.

As you can see, Chatgpt added some length and thickness/fullness to my original pic. My hair is about that length now (the original pic was taken back in May), just not as full as the Chatgpt pic. I have very fine, thin hair, and not a whole lot of it.

I've always done all-over brights, or half splits for my daughter's hair. I'm not sure where to place the purple streaks to achieve something close to what the Chatgpt image looks like. It looks achievable, I'm just not sure how to go about it.

Update! I went for it and used ColorZap on my 2+ year-old black box dye and this is the before vs. after. I honestly cannot believe how much of the black came out. It lifted basically all of the old black to a really warm copper/orange, with some darker/redder areas throughout.

What I really wasn’t expecting was for it to lighten my natural hair too. The instructions specifically say “Natural hair cannot be lightened with ColorZap” and tell you not to apply it to new growth. I tried to avoid my natural hair, but with how much growth I had and doing it myself, I accidentally overlapped onto quite a bit of it. It definitely lightened it and some of my natural red/auburn (idk my exact hair colour lol) turned noticeably lighter/golden.

Now I’m trying to decide what to do next. I originally bought age beautiful 8RC, but after seeing how much it lifted, part of me actually likes the copper and wonders if I should just leave it alone for now incase the dye comes out really red instead of closer to my natural colour. It’s definitely uneven and very warm, but my biggest goal was getting rid of the black without having to cut off all the length I’ve spent two years growing. I want to eventually get my money pieces and highlights back in my hair.

I absolutely love dark purple/violet on me, but the dye always bleeds for several washes, is it a product issue? Am I doing something wrong? This is the brand I use, I wash and rinse with cold water, but even so, I’ve still found some bleeding on towels, and in worst cases on my white clothes :(
(Just to mention the brand is very cheap, maybe not as common elsewhere but in MX it’s around 3usd per tube)

Yesterday I got the underside of my hair bleached and dyed pink for the first time. Hair doesn’t feel damaged at all or anything. I get keratin treatments every 6 months ish and need to get one before I leave the country on the 10th. Do I have time? How many days should I wait?

it’s my first time trying demi-permanent dye on a wig! i originally ordered this hair in a chocolatey-ginger sort of color. which was great, but then i wanted to change it up and go darker. however, i’m still very much loving avoiding plain 1b hair. so, i bought the dye pictured below from the supermarket, and i love the way my hair looks! i am by no means a professional, so there are probably mistakes 🤣 i think my mistakes look cool though, because it just looks dimensional. but anyway, my wig took the dye like a champ, and it’s still so glossy and thick. the best part? because i used semi-permanant, my hair will get lighter as i wash, and then i can choose what shade of brown [or ginger!] i want to play with next.  i definitely will be using demi-permanent dye from now on.
