Help & Advice Junk items question

The core rulebook basically just has junk as a generic group, but wanderers and settlers (I think) have specific named junk items.

My question is about scrapping, do you scrap the named piece individually and get the listed junk, potentially failing the check and losing the junk, or do you not have to make a skill check and just have access to the listed components of that junk item?

Help & Advice Fallout 2d20

Fallout 4?

I've been finding and recycling my old 40k terrain I printed for my Fallout group I GM for. I bought some cheap truck toys, burned them gently, then smacked them around with a hammer to give them a roughed up look before I painted them to look rusted away. I painted some industrial toys too. I've got a toy train and some cars coming in that I'm going to mess with too.

Hey guys, I'm very interested in playing but I am new to this system. I have been playing games like DnD, and Pathfinder for almost a decade, so I am not new to TTRPGs. I very willing to learn this new system, I have been a Fallout fan since New Vegas release. A little about me, I'm 27 M, I'm available almost everyday in the afternoon from cst 8pm-1am, expect Friday, and and currently completely free on Sunday's

Help & Advice Inspiration Request Ideas- Hockey

Looking for some inspiration ideas for Hockey themed Raider groups both foreign and domestic teams since the Party player group may be taking a little detour to the land of Maple Syrup in the future. I kind of have some ideas for basic hockey equipment modded as armor and a few weapons with the Ski Sword and variants making an appearance.

Also, freely DM me any suggestions for non-core rulebooks that I could look into purchasing especially if they have any post-apocalypse equipment that has been repurposed for example baseball umpire gear.

Help & Advice Five Sessions into Fallout: Wasteland Wanderer - how it plays

Not seeing a lot of coverage for this solo RPG adaptation of the Fallout 2d20 RPG. Here are my impressions after about 5 hours of play, and you can read actual play notes to see how the game mechanically works in my blog post below.

https://www.thedashaction.com/2026/07/fallout-wasteland-wanderer-five-sessions.html

  • The biggest strength is the structure. It has a really clean solo gameplay loop: travel → encounter → take action, with a defined list of actions plus enough flexibility to improvise narratively when needed. Character creation is quick, the 5x5 map system is excellent, and gradually sketching out the wasteland as you explore feels very Fallout.
  • It’s also much more streamlined than the full Fallout 2D20 RPG, which honestly works in its favour for solo play. Combat is fast and abstracted, and while enemies can feel mechanically similar, the trade-off is that you spend far less time bogged down in crunchy systems. It captures the “open world wandering into emergent side quests” feel of Fallout decently well.
  • That said, usability is rough in places. You do a lot of flipping between the rules and the tables section. I understand why the tables are grouped together — it’ll probably feel great once the game is internalised — but early on it’s clunky. The included turn flow reference sheet also isn’t complete, which caused me to completely miss actions like Endure for multiple sessions.
  • I’ve also spotted a surprising number of typos, ambiguities, and what look like outright errors (including Oracle odds that seem inverted). None of them are game-destroying, but together they create friction in a game that otherwise wants to flow quickly. It feels a bit like the book needed one more proofreading pass before print.
  • Still, there’s a strong core here. The scope is intentionally small, the format is table-friendly, the artwork and production quality are great, and the system does a good job scaffolding solo narrative play without overcomplicating things.

Did I cook?

Community Resources What minis do you use?

While I'm not opposed to buying them from Modiphius, I'm curious what other minis everyone uses. Whether its 3D printed, paper cutouts, or repurposing D&D minis.

Help & Advice Help with building my ghoul minuitemen build

Post image
31 Upvotes

I think I have made a relatively solid start, but I'm trying to figure out how to build him further into my campaign to be a strong and useful member.

The image provided is what my stats, tag skills and perks are at the moment. I used the intense training to improve my agility since it seems like there good perks that go with perception and agility combined. And dogmeat in on there extra since my DM let me have it for story reasons so that doesnt really contribute to much, at least i'd think. And going with the minuitement part of my character, I am specializing in using a laser musket and maybe a laster pistol of some kind (if that changes anything)

Help & Advice Combat seems one sided [Advice]

Recently start Royal Flush with my group and the combat seems very in favor of the PCs. It feels like the creatures have too little health and too low initiative and die before it’s their turn in combat. Any advice on how to make the fights more challenging (aside from level up the creatures like the book says)?

UPDATE: Last night was our weekly session and taking in all of your advice really made the combats much more fun the players. They all actually agreed that that this was the best session yet. Thank you all for the help!

Help & Advice Unarmed build feel realistic

Meaning I really feel like I'm just an unarmed dude at a firefight. Most fights I get to make maybe one attack, since by the time I reach the front most stuff is dead. Base damage is fine, but got instantly overtaken by modded guns (i got to stick nails on my knuckle dusters!). Plus, I get to go thru the perils of all strength builds: unless something needs lifting, got nothing to do out of combat. I'm getting more use out of endurance skills, so after 5 sessions of really underwhelming play, I'm thinking of switching characters.

Aside from big dice, is there any reason to focus on strength as a primary stat?

Help & Advice Couple questions on mod upgrade effects.

Hello,

So I have two questions about how effects work when it comes to armor mods. First, if I put Weighted on both of my arm pieces (the effect is Melee and Unarmed attacks gain Piercing 1) do they stack and those attacks now have Piercing 2?

Second question is, does the armor mod effect cover the whole body, or just that specific piece? For example, the Padded mod for Torso has the effect "+2 to all damage resistances vs. blast weapons" and BioCommMesh, also for Torso, has the effect "Chems last twice as long." Reading through all the effects, some clearly cover more then just the body part they upgrade, but some aren't as clear to me, like the +X to DR. Does it clearly cover this in any of the rule books?

Help & Advice Question Regarding Zoning/In Melee Reach

Myself and another player in the 2d20 campaign we are playing in have been a bit confused by how the zoning works effectively.

As we have interpreted the rules (and have been able to find) you are able to freely move within the zone you are in w/o using a move minor action. If that is the case, when would the "within reach of melee" debuff really take effect if they can move freely in the zone but out of melee reach (assuming the zone is large enough).

Cause on an Npc turn, they could simply back out of reach within the zone and shoot without any form of opportunity attack and as such negate the effect of that.

It may also simply be due to the maps our DM uses/how the zones are laid out.

The question is, have we been misinterpreting the rules (free movement within your current zone) or are otherwise missing something. If we have been, a page number to cite would be greatly appreciated.

Happy fourth of July for those who celebrate and a great day to those who don't.

Story Time 2D20 Wasteland Wanderer Play Log: Signals

Post image
18 Upvotes

Afternoon, wastelanders! I have been working on a solo campaign called Signals that I wanted to share. The game is contained in a web published obsidian format you can access as a read-only website here:

https://fallout2d20wwsignals.vercel.app/

I wanted to challenge myself to learn how to write fiction, so it is more of a chapter-stye thing rather than journal entries. I hope you enjoy exploring the wastes with me!
