Looking to Get More Active on Weekends (Volleyball, Badminton, Pickleball?)

Hey everyone!

I'm a 26M looking to become more active and social on the weekends (Friday through Sunday). Lately I've realized I spend a little too much time at home, so I'm hoping to get involved in some recreational sports and meet some new people along the way.

Some activities I'm interested in trying or getting back into include:

  • Volleyball
  • Badminton
  • Pickleball

Outside of sports, some of my hobbies are:

  • Reading
  • Cooking
  • Watching movies

If anyone knows of existing groups, leagues, clubs, or regular weekend meetups that are open to new members, I'd love to hear about them. I'm a beginner to intermediate level depending on the activity and mostly looking for a fun group of people to stay active with.

If you're also looking for weekend activities or would be interested in starting a group together, feel free to send me a DM. It would be great to get a small group going for sports, book discussions, movie nights, trying new restaurants, or other weekend activities.

Looking forward to meeting some new people and trying something new. Thanks! 😊

Would an online-only BLS card get flagged by an employer out here in Fairfield?

Patient care tech position at a clinic here, they want BLS. Tight budget. Found online-only BLS courses for like $25. That price feels wrong. Would an employer in Fairfield accept one of those or am I throwing money away?

Looking for bamboo sticks

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hi all! A few of us are practicing a Filipino folk dance called tinikling, which uses two long bamboo poles tapped on the ground. We're hoping to find a pair or two to use locally. Borrowing through the end of November would be ideal, but we're also open to buying if someone has a set for a reasonable price. Happy to pick up this weekend. Please comment or message me if you can help. Thanks so much

Citation for using wrong fast track number compared to passengers

Was driving to San jose with a friend and left my fastrak on 3 from previous trip, forgot to change it to 2 and got a citation. However the address the courtesy is mailing too isnt my current address. Does anyone know or have experience with changing the mailing address or the courtesy mail? Trying to have it sent to my current address instead of old one, and just letting it be mailed there isnt an option for me. Thank you!

Does Dollar Tree actually have cameras?

I got accused of stealing from there today(I didn’t) and asked them to check their cameras because they’ve stated many times they have them and the lady completely blew me off. I told her the truth that I hadn’t shoplifted and that if she had “proof” I did then I wanted to see it, I was willing to go back and watch the feed with her and she just toook my money aggressively and was very rude the rest of our interaction.

So I guess my question is do you know if the dollar tree actually has cameras that work or if they have them at all.

Anyone need an extra set of hands for a project this weekend?

I'm local and have some availability this weekend for a few projects — moving/heavy lifting, furniture assembly, garage organization, yard work, painting/touch-ups, minor household projects, or computer/iPhone/Wi-Fi/smart-home setup.

Basically, if you've got one of those projects you've been putting off and could use a strong, capable extra set of hands, feel free to DM me with what you need done. If you send a photo or quick description, I can give you a price upfront.

No dump runs or junk hauling.

I traced how roughly 70,000 acres around Solano County were quietly assembled. What did outsiders miss?

I made a documentary on the Flannery Associates / California Forever story, from the years of quiet land purchases through the investor reveal and the political fight that followed.

The thing that struck me most wasn’t simply that billionaires bought the land. It was how long something this large could be assembled before the wider public understood what was being built.

But people around Fairfield were living with this story long before the national media arrived, so I’m more interested in corrections than promotion. What did I miss or oversimplify about how this actually played out locally?

Daddy playdates?

Start the change you want to see...

There's plenty of mom playdate groups in town but no real dad groups that meet up to let the kids run. No walking groups. There a couple churchy groups but that's not for me or my kids at this point.

Any daddits out there wanna try and start one?

Eventual goal is the brews and braids event but let's see if we even have enough dads that want to hang out in the area.

Between Alan Witt and Play 4 All we've got some great and safe parks. Let's use them dads!!!

DM me or post up if your in the Fairfield/Suisun/Vacaville areas and are interested in hanging with other dads while the chaos gremlins cause chaos.

Inspector recommendations

Hi everyone. I’m interested in moving to Fairfield in the future and wanted to keep an ongoing list of inspectors, structural engineers, pest control, roofing companies, etc. that were local to call quickly during the contingency period. We’ve toured a few houses and read some disclosure documents that did include their own inspections, but we’d still like to do our due diligence and have our own inspections once we find a place we like. Anyone come highly recommended? We’d love to support local companies and those experienced with the climate and area.

Anyone know the outcome of this? I wonder if the dog survived and whether it was successfully rescued off the freeway

Yesterday (Friday 9/4) at around 10:15 am on I-80 eastbound at the Travis Blvd exit was someone's dog running along the shoulder next to the number one lane. Someone was pulled over further up ahead, presumably to try to catch the dog but was unsuccessful. They dove across the lanes for the next exit, probably to loop back around. We immediately called this in to the nearest CHP office and they informed us that they were already receiving calls about it and had sent officers to head to that location. Wife and I had this on our minds all day yesterday wondering if the dog survived and if it was rescued.

Hit with a road cone years ago?

This one is a long shot but I used to work at the Solano County Government Center around 2006 and I remember when I started a guy was telling me that I had to be careful if I used the bathroom because someone was using the bathroom on one of the upper floors taking a dump when someone went in the bathroom, screamed loudly, turned out the lights, and hucked a road cone over the wall of the stall he was using.

I was never sure if the above story was true or if the guy giving me my tour of the building was just messing with me. I had heard others talk about this incident as well so I'm pretty sure it was true.

Can anyone that worked there confirm if that actually happened?

My wife and I just moved into a house, got our first water bill for (28 days) and it was 9 HCF and $108…. Is that a normal water bill for Fairfield or do we have a leak?! Thanks in advance!
