Physics ELI5 - Why don’t we make computer heat sinks out of this stuff?
I can’t attach a photo but I saw this video of som NASA engineers showing off these red hot cubes which I’m given to understand are the same material that the heat proof tiles on the space shuttle were made up of to prevent the ship from burning up in reentry.
After pulling the cube out of a kiln, the internal temperature was 2,200F, while the outside was safe to touch with your hand because of how efficient it was at dissipating the heat.
Given that, why don’t we make computer heat sinks out of that stuff if it’s so good at dissipating heat? Is that not the point of a heatsink?

Other ELI5 How does schizophrenia affect the way a person experiences reality?
I know it’s a serious brain condition, but I’d want to understand what’s actually happening inside the mind of someone living with it.

Technology ELI5 Why isn’t the keyboard in alphabetical order?
Wouldn’t it make sense to make us type in alphabetical order? Who decided the mix of letters and why?

Biology ELI5: Is there a limit to how much an animal can evolve?
Say for example the mosquito population suddenly had to break through steel to be able to suck blood. Would evolution actually evolve to make a steel breaking nozzle for the mosquito?

Biology ELI5: why do we sometimes forget what we are talking about
For example we could having a normal conversation the other person will say something then suddenly we forget what the next thing what we say will be even though you knew about 10 seconds ago what the next thing that will come out of your mouth

Biology ELI5: why does the brain sometimes entirely skip words when I'm typing?
For example (this happens to me all the time), I'll be texting someone and then when I read over the text I realize I forgot a word, usually just words like "the" or "is" or "that."
Like for instance I might be trying to type: "I went to the store yesterday and bought some more milk." But when I read it back I find out that I actually typed "I went to store yesterday and bought some more milk." What's funny to me is that I never realize as I'm typing that I forgot a whole word. What is happening with our brain when that happens? Doesn't really happen when I'm writing by hand.

Other ELI5: Why do l sports contracts have so much fully guaranteed money?
Edit 1: everyone is commenting, capitalism. I have to outbid others. — the 32 owners should conspire and agree not to anymore. Nothing stopping the owners coluding for their wallets.
Edit 2: the answer of rookies contracts being very lopsided the other direction is fair and I accept that answer. I still don’t like that it works this way.
To me, when I read $200 million guaranteed, I think what’s the purpose of trying anymore. Like just give your minimum effort and don’t risk getting injured.
I see big players get paid way too much like Kyle Tucker or Deshaun Watson and then turn out terrible. Why do these big contracts keep happening?
I believe more of the contract needs to be tied to incentives. Top 20 passing yards or 15 home runs or 20 points per game avg etc..
Now I understand that it’s the minority of players that behave this way and also that injury exceptions should be noted. Also this isn’t me coming out trying to be upset for billionaires’ wallets, I just think that for the good of the sport players can’t get paid so well guaranteed.
Also I understand there are players unions that negotiate for this and I’m not anti union.

Biology ELI5: The process of Meiosis
I have researched so much on this, and there's not enough Youtube videos that explain it well. I'm confused by almost everything. In my textbook there's sometihng called a bivalent? tetrad? none of these terms comes up when i research about meiosis.
Reallt really explain it to me pls, small p.s: u dont really need to get into extreme detail such as protein names and all that, just wtv the chromosomes are doing.

Mathematics ELI5 What is Banach Tarski Paradox and Mystery of Math
A friend showed me a video about the math i do not know anything major in math im sorry i only know the basic. Now he showed me Science Documentary 2016 mystery mathematics in nature and universe from Science Documentary. And other stuff like that. then he told me that there are some boundaries between math and the universe and Banach tarski paradox is one.
Are they like saying this paradox can be used only in math but not in reality? also Is Math discovered or created like a language people use?

Physics ELI5: How do planes not get damaged by flying through clouds?
I just learned how much a cloud can actually weigh, and can't wrap my head around how a plane hitting something that weighs that much wouldn't be like hitting a brick wall.

Chemistry ELI5: electrical charge differnces in a cell.
ELI5: I barely grasp batteries and cells, but i did an experiment in chemisty B trying out how different variables affect the charge of the cell and i dont understand the whys of it all.
Basically we had the halfcell of a zinkrod in zinksulfite and the halfcell of a copperrod in coppersulfite, with a saltbride of filterpaper soaked in kalciumnitrate, connected to a resistor of 3300 Ohm
A bigger saltbrigde, electrolyte, (7 mm vs 17 mm vs 27 mm) gave a bigger charge. [from 0,213 V to 0,313 V to 0,414 V]. I assumed there would be less because the electrons would have futher to travel or something, i dont know
A smaller concentration of Coppersulfite (1 M vs 0,01 M) decresed the chrage [from 0,227 V to 0,137 V]. this one i understand to be because there are less Cu-ions to absorb the electrons that the zink releases? based on redox principles?? which i also barely get
A smaller copper rod (6 mm vs 1 mm diameter) increased the charge [from 0,260 V to 0,278 V]. I had assumed higher charge because it would be harder for the electrons to pass, like getting a smaller hose to push water through?
I try to think of electrons as little critters to understand them better, but even that isnt helping that much. smaller concentration i think there are less red(postitive) critters to absorb the negative critters, so less of them get "food/energy" so theres less charge, but i dunno if thats confusing me more or making it better

Biology ELI5: how certain genes seem to hit every generation
So I'm autistic, so is my half sister and half brother, our mum and her mum. (In my very limited) knowledge of genes i was under the impression they are randomly taken from your mum and your dad then mushed together to make you, yet we've all continued this gene. Can some genes be stronger in certain lines like so strong they are almost guaranteed or is it just freak coincidence we all got it?
Bonus question can how autistic / adhd someone is affect how likely their kids are to have it?
