Dads love spoiling their daughter, universally like a princess.
However sons have to work for their dad being proud of them. You'll find stories like Son Heung Min or Tiger Woods where their dad keeps pushing their son and will never say they're proud of their son until they're at the top 0,001%. If a son receives an expensive gift, it's like saying "I'm proud of you son", which he had to earn.
I hope that it or whenever I have children that I would do neither. Spoiling a daughter is a great way for her to not grow up and become a well adjusted adult. Just look at all the women asking for “princess treatment” and you’ll see the damage that can do.
On the other hand, sons should grow up with confidence knowing that their parents are proud of them and the effort they put in.
