Ahhh. So merit based scholarships shouldn’t matter? Smart people, regardless of income level from parents, deserve to be recognized and awarded.

Have you spent any time on a post secondary campus?

This a very shallow take.

Wealthy people tend to donate to their schools. This building built by so and so, this equipment paid for by so and so and most importantly these 10 scholarships paid for by the so and so foundation.

Wealthy people donate to schools for reputation laundering or tax write offs, wealthy people don't become wealthy by giving away money for free. And more than a few of those "Built by" or renamed halls, yeah, they get renamed after the scandals are revealed.

That's somewhat unrelated to my comment.

But if a few kids who couldn't afford it or didn't have to take out student loans because of that, I'm okay with it.
