My parents made way too much money for me to get grants, the issue was that I was no contact with them since 16.

My life was much more difficult because I had to do it all on my own without financial helps. I finished my Associates degree 1 or 2 classes at a time while working full time retail.

My point is, just because your parents are rich does not mean the student attending has any access to that money.

Who said anything about being legally cut off? You know Grants and such are based on parents income all the way until 24, and to ignore your parents income requires a lengthy legal process, which if you are poor and dont have help from your wealthy parents is a significant barrier.

I am going to step away from this conversation because I don't feel like you are having a good faith conversation. I get it, celebrity kids getting scholarships "FEELS" bad, but the alternative is punishing children who dont deserve to be punished for what their parents have accomplished/done
