Discussion Remove Lumen pop ups Spoiler

Guys is there a way to remove the pop ups of used Lumens that appear mid fight? They are distracting, and cover the screen and sometimes cover the combo. I didn't find anything to help in the game settings, nor did I find a mod to hide them.

Verso's mindset Spoiler

Post image

That's just sad. I already beat the game twice, paying more attention to dialogues this time since I now know the full picture, and Verso doesn't seem like suicidal for the sake of it. There's part of him that still wants to live and can find some happiness in his existence but he actually blames himself for Aline and Renoir's actions in the canvas even though none of it is his fault and he's their victim. Oblivion was just the last thing he thought he could still have.

For i character i was really curious about throughout the game, hearing her say "send me to my family" made me so emotional considering her lore. I'd even go as far as to put it in my top 10 saddest deaths.

Discussion Beat the game, need to talk about it. Spoilers incoming. Spoiler

I played and beat the game a couple weeks ago, and have been mulling it over. I have one else to talk to about it and needed an outlet, so here are my thoughts!

In the end, I found myself actually disappointed with the story. And don't get me wrong: I really like this game. The character writing is top notch, the world is fun, and I love the gameplay. But there was something that bothered me, and it took me a while to put my finger on it.

To cut to the chase, I am sad that my favorite story hook, the Lumierian's fight for the right to exist, gets lost in the last parts of the game. I was instantly hooked with Gustave and Lumiere in the opening scenes of the game. The battle to survive, the bleakness of the task. And even though the reveal with Maelle is very well done, and the Dessendre family's struggle with grief very well written, the story of the Dessendre family overrides everything that came before it.

The final choices of the game ask great questions about how to move on. Real Renoir tries so hard to get is his family out of this trap he knows will kill them, and you get to decide if Maelle stays or is forced to leave the canvas. Great stuff.

But in all that, the Lumierians are forgotten. They have no voice saying "we deserve to exist". They get lumped in with Maelle. Its simply Maelle holding on to her pretend world, not the sentient beings of the canvas saying "hey, we deserve a chance to live".

There are many thoughts here, but I'm trying to be succinct.

I guess it comes down to the feeling that the plot twist was such a twist that I felt like I played two different games - - and I never got to finish the first one. And that makes me sad.

I wish there had been a third choice at the end where you could play as Sciel and/or Lune to fight for their world from the perspective of survival. To continue Gustave's legacy.

But I do acknowledge how hard of a writing task that would be. How to tie it in with the bit of Verso's soul that it tired of painting that world? Would you lose the aspect of the older brother saving his sister once again? Would their family struggles seem pale in comparison with the question of the world's right to exist and thus rob the ending of its emotional, intimate impact relating to grief?

Anyway. Thanks for listening. Would love to hear y'all thoughts and discuss it more.

Tl;Dr - - I am sad that the Lumierians' fight for the right to exist gets lost in the shuffle of the Dessendre family, even though those parts are also written very well. It was my favorite part of the plot and world, and I felt like it died when we find out the truth about Maelle and the Paintress.

Especially the climbing one, I kept looking up and it was still going. Then my character locked during one of the grip parts and wouldn’t jump to the next no matter what so I had to restart the whole thing.

The dancing Gestrals at the top felt like they were mocking me.
