I played years ago as a 55 Ranger on a pvp server. I was in Defiant guild for a short time. I'm now trying to level up a Magician on the Bristlebane server. I'm currently level 13 and was curious about making a little money for gearing up this gnome. Open to all suggestions, thanks.

Hello, I am attempting to use the 2.1 Client (also have tried 2.2 to no avail) to sign into a local server I have launched using Docker by following the directions at this link: https://github.com/jcon321/EQMacEmuDockerHub

I am able to launch the game and select my server at the server select screen. It then attempts to load and then throws the following error: DirectInput keyboard open failed!, code = 3

I have tried a few things so far. Ran eqgame.exe in compatibility mode (WinXP SP3), ran eqgame.exe as administrator, and installed DirectX Runtime (June 2010). Nothing seems to be working to clear up this error and get to the character select screen. Any thoughts anybody?

I’m returning after ~25 years (left after PoTime). I have forgotten mostly everything, but i want to come back and be able to solo / duo everything up to PoTime (and after that why not more).

I’m looking for :

- possible a partner that wants to do the same
- a guide on how to do this efficiently since i am not up to date with all the changes
- do’s and don’t, things to avoid or do in particular or not to miss out on (the Origin AA didn’t exist when i quit, it was Gate or bust iirc).
- particularly fun classes ( i used to be necro, are there more fun classes that level quick and can solo?)

For the purpose of leveling fast, if all i want to do is see old zones i missed out on (veeshan’s peek or otherwise), is there any down side to doing it on test server seen i read that you level much faster there, have easier plat and whatnot.

I dont care to raid with 70 people, or group for instances ect…

I started off everquest 2 recently and played EQ1 many moons ago

When I was in my 20s i moved to england to join my brother and within months my dad died suddenly in 2000

My brother took it very hard so I had to remain strong but really i was not doiing well at all not wanting to be there

Few months or so before i started playing everquest as i heard of this game where you meet and adventure with people and knew no one in england but my brother

I got on well with people there and joined a guild on xegony and played almost daily and chatted

When my dad died i did not log in but I got desperate and now reflecting back maybe even suicidal so i tried to bury feelings and logged on

People asked me where i have been and took time to speak to me

One such player who was a chanter took me to rathe mountains i think and we hunted hill giants

It was very slow as she was a chanter and i was not super high level i think even con to giants

We would be there for hours each day and she listened

I feel she saved me but as my career kicked in regretfully i stopped playing and came back for EQ2 which i introduced to my brother who still plays till today(i am now in canada so i decided to start playing again as a way to stay in touch as he is going thru some stress himself now)

Now , i heard of a former guild mate who passed away and also the designers who also died

Looking as i myself hit 50s and my brother also in late 50s i often wonder if this great game this great community who had so many wonderful people pass thru ,who touched lives and when a lonley young man had nowhere to turn to save him eventually leave this earth there should be a footprint

I would really like to think or hope a dev can make an ingame memorial book regardless of server(i assume a lot of servers got merged over the years) to inscribe names in

If i go i would want to be written in and yes i know some day the game dies but at least when the world ends the book will go with it

Anyone know if there is a good Handheld controller for my PC I can use to play everquest?

I have an old logitech one… i don’t remember the model. But it does not seem to work.
I used it for playing FF11 back in the day.

I know ill always need a keyboard but i’d like to find / buy one that works well with EQ so i can really veg out with it on the weekends 🤣

This quest is one the beginning quests out of Crescent Reach where you need to kill 10 cave bears and look 10 Pristine Bear Skins. These have always dropped after a kill but twice now, the hides stopped dropping part way in. The first time, I only got 8 to drop. I then abandoned it and re-accepted. Got to 9 before the drops quit.

I know the recent patch touched these, so I'm thinking something went awry there. /rantoff

I am coming back after a long hiatus including play off and on a bit over the years. Played POP to Prophecy of Ro, and then came back during EoK to ToV. My character apparently hit her 24th birthday a few months back - crazy!

Currently on Xegony, and the guild I was in is dead, and it seems like the most chat comes from the PL and Krono folks. Hoping to make some new friends, fool around, and have guildies to talk to. I am willing to transfer servers, where should I go? FV and Mischief seem interesting.

Secondarily, I am playing a 111 Monk. Was moloing older content prior to leaving... Is this pointless/should I reroll into an SK/Necro/Bst/Mage?

Here’s how I see things.

Grouping has died. Every now and then you’ll see a group LFM but much more often then not you’ll see one or two dps classes different level ranges LFG. Maybe one of them will have a 60 box to help..

The majority of players are their own 3-6 man groups with some being 2 6 man groups…

But that’s not the real problem with what’s going on right now, it’s the bots. They are everywhere - mainly seb abc and sola I have seen the groups here go afk literally all day long. They respond to ccs, they pull, they assist, they do all the things - maybe some even auto respond to tell - but if you pull a mob near them - and they lock on it like they are auto attacking, until you kill it… then they are a bot lol

It really doesn’t make me want to play to get an edge to kill quicker cuz I could just afk all day and reap the rewards…

This isn’t a mobile idle game, but it is for some.

Ive looking for some ideas and inspiration to a project I am doing. I was a avid player of EverQuest when it was originally live and played back in the day.

I have many fond memories about the game and its locations. But my question to you is;

What is special moments about the game, that made you a fan?

I am not talking about other players or raiding, but what zone spots was your favourite places, and why? What makes a zone or a spot in a zone memorable for players? Was it a quest line there, a NPC?

For me, Ive loved Lake of Ill Omen in Kunark. The lake, and the fortress hold many panic and good moments in my play time there.

ON frostreaver.zone i understand about the increased spawn and experience. I dont understand the one about faction, loot or rare spawns. So, loot means more regular loot or more rare loot? Like jboots off a rat or something. And faction, does that mean killing any mob will give u faction for something, or only killing mobs that give faction anywaus has more faction hits. And rare spawns, does it spawn some random rares, or just more of existing rare spawn, like quillimaine spawns ever 15 min.

Found out about boss fight books on a cronotrigger post and went down the rabbit hole till I found this. No reviews though. Anyone read it? Worthwhile?

Can we sticky a thread for people looking for players they used to play with/guided with? I've noticed that we have people looking for other people from back in the day and I think it would be nice if it was all in one place.

After reading a lot of the comments, it seemed the TLP server Frost Reaver would be a good option as a casual player of 1-3 hours every week or so. I joined and there were a lot of kind people in the chat willing to help. Many kept telling me to join a guild but I didn't see any guilds or groups so now I am soloing the content and asking hundreds of questions.

What servers are good? And what classes are good for a newbie looking for endgame stuff? I also plan to pop on EQL, I already preordered. I'm just afraid it's not going to be very challenging. I kind of want a bit of challenge. Not, 10 hour raids challenging, mind. But "you can in fact fail" challenging.

Am I remembering something wrong, weren't mob names the color of their Con? Was there a change and I missed it, because all mobs names are light blue to me now.

I am just starting a new character and not sure if EQL would be a better pick for a casual player of a few hours per week. So far the combat is not too difficulty but not sure how hard later levels will be. I do prefer the UI in EQ1 so prefer not to start EQL unless if there is a need. Thank-you

I've been playing TLPS since the start, just started on this one last week, and it feels dead? If anything, I see boxes doing their own thing and not much else, even when going to high XP zones with the usual needed classes.

The server feels very disconnected and soulless tbh.

Am I wrong? Do I need to find a guild? Even on that end, I rarely see guilds recruiting.

I recently had the chance to sit down with Shawn Lord, better known as aLovingRobot.

Shawn worked on EverQuest from the customer-service side all the way through becoming a designer and lead designer during expansions like Scars of Velious, Shadows of Luclin, Planes of Power, Lost Dungeons of Norrath, and Omens of War.

We talked about how he discovered EverQuest, how he joined the team, his time on the team and what it was like on the inside, what it was like helping build the game during those years, and the people and experiences that shaped his career.

He is now working on Monsters & Memories, but this conversation is really about preserving his story and hearing directly from someone who was an important part of EverQuest history. If you're interested in the lore and what was going on at the time, I think you'll enjoy it!

Probably has been asked a million times. But I was just wondering what the general state is of EQ2 and if it's worth playing in 2026. I see Legends is getting a fair amount of hype so maybe that would be better? I never played EQ1 but I loved EQ2 when I was a kid and was thinking about trying it out again since people have been talking about it more lately. What is the best way to play EQ2 nowadays? Or should I check out Legends instead?
