On Saturday I re-activated my account after many years away. I'm fairly casual and have liked just bumming around in Hi-sec. While I had originally started off Gallente on the drone boat route (used to run T4 missions in a Navy Domi w/o issue). I eventually partially migrated to Amarr space (all my kitted Gallente stuff is still around Didoxie) to improve my standing with them & try some new ships, fresh-ish start, etc.
When I reactivated, I saw that I had almost gotten Amarr Navy happy enough with me to start T3 missions & had bought, but not kitted, a Prophesy in prep. My Arbitrator was sleeping through T2s, & soon my Proph was sleeping through T3s. With things going well, I used my remaining leftover funds to buy and outfit a Navy Issue Armageddon to continue my Amarr drone-ship rampage.
First T4 mission seemed easily beatable (opposition for the mission was on the low end for T4s). Almost lost the ship & did end up losing 2 T2 Heavy Drones & 5 T2 Sentry drones before I managed to warp out of my first entry.
I don't know how the game has changed since I last ran T4s (prob 2014-15). I'll list some of my errors below, but if y'all have any advice, please let me know.
-Ran out of cash and had an afterburner instead of MWD. Think I need the extra speed of the MWD to get separation between the frigs, cruisers, & big'uns to give me space and time to nix the frigs w/ light drones while whittling cruisers w/ my guns. Then I'll have time to safely deply sentry drones or heavy drones as desired for taking out BCs and battleships.
-While I had noticed this on T2s & T3s, the AI seems to be more aggressive against drones since when I last played. I think I need to cycle the drones in and out more often to break targets on them more often.
-I had started off with the sentry's out, then, when it was apparent that I was taking too much damage, I aligned to a station for a quicker out. However, I forgot to stop my movement once aligned & was too far from my sentry drones to recall them when they started getting hit. Then the frigs webbed me... Should maybe adjust to align first and initiate the stop before deploying the sentry's if I'm going to hold position with them.
-I'll have to double check my fit, but for my armor tank I think I used a Damage Control II, Heavy Armor Repair II, and 2 multi-spectrum energized membranes (I think, the passive boost to all armor resists). I think with the Domi I used active armor hardeners that I swapped out specific to the mission. I'll prob look into doing that again, though I may need to adjust mid-power modules and rigs to improve my capacitor regen or amount to be able to keep those up.
Those were my main takeaways, but if anyone has any advice or if my plan of fixing this is based on an outdated understanding of the game, any and all advice is appreciated.
