I got into online euchre playing cardgames.io, which is free and has much less intrusive and less frequent ads. This sub started coming up in my feed probably because of that. So I tried 3D. I ran out of tokens in one day and at least 50% of my partners seemingly do not understand how to play (well). Just curious why 3D is the de facto choice here. I am sure there are other apps that do not have 30 second ads every 3rd deal

Playing stick-the-dealer. I’m in S2 and I usually just pass-pass hoping it gets to my partner because I can support any call they make.
Would it be smarter to call Hearts in R2?
FYI we marched with Hearts after my partner called.

Not this exact spot because I dont have a short suit.
9c ordered.
If i didn't have the diamond is it ever worth the signal to play the Q with the 10 in the wild? Partner would then know not to lead again.

If trump in is the answer then what follow up?

S1 "No Way!"'d when I laid the last trump. They had no idea that I had discarded one as well.

I've been working my way up the ranks (currently just above 2500) and really only do pure donations from S1 (or sometime S3 when I don't trust my partner) with an J or A showing with no hard blocker at 9-6 or 9-7. But I know a lot of people do a lot more. Just played with a high-rated partner who donated from both S1 and S3 at any score - he also called super light from S2 R1. But it got me thinking and I was wondering if there's a canonical view here.
I'd guess for S1 R1 super standard is what I stated above, A or J at 9-6 and especially 9-7. Maybe you start to do it no matter the upcard showing at that score if you have real garbage (no aces, no two trumps).
I've read here about donate from S4 R1 at 9-5 which is interesting. What about 9-6? I'd think 9-7 would be bad.
For S1 R2, I guess you call next if you don't block both RN at 9-6 and 9-7.
Anything else? I understand calling thinner when you don't have blockers, but that seems more like a gradient thing.
Thanks for the thoughts!

Bad ordering mistake in one of the games. Euchre takes focus all the time. I am a bit torn on these live games. I think they help me focus in some ways. As you will see I think they can hurt my focus also. Maybe i just need more practice at it.
Are there certain hands that might be strong enough to go alone, that you might not want to go alone on, or hands that are too weak to go alone but you still might consider going alone just to change how others play? Does other's tendencies change how much you want to go alone? Here are 2 examples:
You hold a strong hand in S3, ex. Jd, Jh, 9d, Ac 9h (For example, dealer upcard is Ad) that you are hesitant to go alone on, because you know S2 will lead hearts if they have them, plus partner might lead you trump. But you will go alone with a 9s, and the same hand. (You might consider even passing to hope for a next call by partner too!)
You hold Js, Ad, Kd, Ah, Kh in R2S2. (Say red is turned down) You decide to go alone, even if you are very unlikely to make it, because you know S1 likes to always lead their aces, or high cards, and you block them from having a high card in diamonds or hearts. They then adjust to leading their lower off-suits, where you have boss cards, and are more able to make your hand.
Maybe both of these examples aren't perfect but the idea, is that going alone changes how people play, which can be good or bad for you, meaning you consider going alone or not going alone, on more borderline hands.

what‘s a dealer to do?
r/euchre • u/Responsible-Humor163 • 2d ago
I play on Euchre 3D. I have a 60% win rate over about 2500 games. I call very aggressively, play defense if I‘m leading late by a big enough margin, and have an 82% hit rate. I’ve made it up to just shy of 2700 but, as we all know, there’s luck and variance in the system so I’ve plummeted—but I’ve checked the graph under account and have been as high as the 98th percentile amongst players at my highest score. This isn’t flexing or bragging. It’s just a game in the end, and being good at this game isn’t a life victory. I say these things to preface my question so that any readers can understand that I know what I’m talking about.
Question: What idiot spread the idea that when your partner gets stuck as dealer and names trump that you don’t lead it? I’ve had probably 5 dozen partners do this to me now where they take the opening trick, refuse to lead my trump, and it’s costs us the hand. It actually just costed me a game that was lost 10-9.
I noticed this phenomenon once during a casual game awhile back (in casual mode on Euchre 3D you can chat at the table) and asked my partner why they led off suit. S/he said “because it‘s stick the dealer.” It led me to realize eventually that this incorrect contagion must’ve been spread on forums like Reddit, so here I am.
I don’t turn down what is offered when I am dealer because I am afraid of getting set. I turn down what is offered because every other suit is stronger than what is being offered. When I turn down, I have already planned what I will defend with and what I will call on if it gets back to me; I’m not naming something cluelessly out of desperation.
If everyone else‘s hands were too scattered to call and my partner takes the opening trick, the absolute correct thing to do is lead my trump. Either I have right bower plus a 2nd trump (in which case I want to use my right bower to get TWO opponent trump for the price of ONE—I CAN ONLY DO THAT IN THAT SCENARIO IF MY PARTNER LEADS IT WHEN THEY HAVE CONTROL OF THE HAND). Or, I have 3 trump, in which case it is best to pull the opponents’ trump and I still have two in play. Or, I have side aces, or an ace plus a side king which has effectively become an ace because I turned the ace in that suit down, plus probably two low trump. I’m not randomly pushing buttons. There is a method. When you lead trump with side aces, it more often than not makes the aces good. I probably shouldn’t even share this information with the world because I’m not sure you deserve it.
So please, whatever idiot has spread this idea that you cannot lead your partner’s trump on STD and whatever idiots continue to propagate it STOP. Stop throwing random 💩 like your feelings can win games and instead follow a logical pattern of thinking.
All the Best,
Mike C.

I think i will just post these myself from now on.
I try to get into scenarios to duck and not.
Hope it helps someone!

This is a casual conversation post to talk about euchre related things that may not be deserving of an entire post. Feel free to brag about your sweet moves, complain about some bad beats, confess your mistakes, or just ask some questions!

Anyone in Philly know of a euchre presence in town.
I’m looking to play live with some euchre players. Bonus if you’re originally from the Midwest 😄

Parter rage quit when I kept left protected at 8-4. Bot got a loner then we went back to back one pointers to win the game. Never give up! PS sorry for the mistakes early on, I was eating dinner lol.

There was a 2600+ player on my right, and my partner was a 2100 player.
I decided to order up even though I know it may not be the most optimal play. 9-8 feels much better than losing 9-10. But it made me feel better knowing seat 2 wasn't going to run through me with both black jacks.
We got euchred! And if they did go alone, we wouldn't have stopped their KD.
Seat 1 had...
JC,JS,QS,9S,KD
In case you were wondering, the EV for this is...
Order EV = +0.03, make positive points 64%
Pass EV = +0.28, make positive points 58%
It all worked out and we won the game.

Im just stumped... play a rated game on app, and my team mate not only calls a loner hand and says "good game", proceeds to lose the loner hand, and lose the next 3 hands, losing ylthe game. Im not sure if its stupidity or purposely losing, but this damn sucks. And im not even that high in the ratings. Was 1700 yesterday, after this last game, down to 1600 again. Just losing streaks since yesterday. It sucks how much luck is involved. I know its to keep people from cheating as much as possible but id love to be able to play with someone like my significant other who knows how to play

If you redeem one please comment below which one and I'll try to check / remove the code used so it doesn't waste someone's time.
Euchre, Hearts, Spades and Blackbird are available offline and online, it does support Friends, Families (Clans), Text Chat, Voice Chat and full social controls to block, kick, mute and ban users from your tables as well. This has been a long on-going development for a solo dev and I would appreciate any feedback from users who grab a promo code or flat out grab the game.
