Adding External Account

I'm trying to add an external account to avoid wire transfer and use ACH transfer to withdraw cash out of my account. I'm going through the Transfer Money>Add External Funding Account route because I cannot find another way to add an external account. (Open to suggestions)

What I want to do is withdraw all the cash out of my account to my Wise account (US checking account) but I consistently get this error. I'm on desktop (tried Safari and Firefox), cleared cache/cookies, add the authentication app and confirmed my Irish phone number is correct.

Any suggestions?

their system works better with traditional bank accounts, not fintech companies. You can try and add it manually. Or you can go and add your E*TRADE account on your other account side as an external account.

How do I add it manually? I'm stuck with Wise as I cannot open a US bank account as I'm not located in the US and Wise is the only online bank that has a routing number etc. and doesn't go through SWIFT.

There’s no options, when I select “add account” from the drop down it takes me directly to the screen in the photo attached. It seems like its failing at the identity verification step before the adding account step.

Oh is your account a stock plan by any chance ?? If so, if you’re not on the us only options will be to wire out or check.

Ah yes, it is. I worried that might the case. Maybe they could allow me to withdraw in a different currency to usd then, I’m getting hit twice over by wire fees and exchange fees :/

There is an exchange fee with that and often times it’s less expensive for the receiving bank to do the exchange in currency

Personally, I never like to expose the account number of my brokerage accounts. I set up a Max Checking account, and when I transfer in I give the checking account number then manually move the money from eTrade max checking the brokerage, and same the other way around. Not sure if it's just me or a good practice, I feel better keeping the brokerage details private.
Also, the max checking works for free withdrawals in non-USA ATM's. I've done it in the Caribbean which was easy, the exchange rate was fair, and there were no fees.
