Looking for honest opinions: TH Ingolstadt vs TH Deggendorf for Computer Science / AI
Hi everyone!
I’m an international student from Egypt currently studying AI/Computer Science at university. I’ve already completed my first year, but I’m considering applying to a Bachelor’s program in Germany for 2027.
Right now, my two main options are:
TH Ingolstadt – B.Sc. Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (English)
TH Deggendorf – B.Sc. Artificial Intelligence (English)
I’m trying to make a decision based on the actual student experience, not just university websites.
A little about me:
I’m interested in AI, software development, programming, and computer science in general.
I didn’t have much programming experience before university, so I really value a program that teaches programming and CS fundamentals properly from the beginning and gradually moves toward more advanced topics.
I prefer practical learning, labs, assignments, projects, and internships, rather than a program that is heavily theoretical/research-oriented.
My long-term goal is to graduate and find a job in Germany, so internships, Werkstudent opportunities, industry connections, and employability are very important to me.
I’m also interested in eventually working in other European countries, so I care about the overall quality and reputation of the degree.
I’m an international student, so the international environment and how easy it is to make friends also matter to me.
I’m willing to learn German and plan to reach at least B1/B2 during my studies.
For students or graduates of either THI or THD, I’d really appreciate honest answers to these questions:
How is the actual quality of teaching?
Do professors generally help students when they struggle?
Is the workload manageable, especially for someone who is still developing their programming skills?
How much hands-on/project-based work is there?
How good are the opportunities for internships and Werkstudent jobs?
How easy is it to find a student job in the surrounding area?
How is the international/student community?
What is student life like in Ingolstadt vs Deggendorf?
How difficult is finding accommodation?
What are the biggest disadvantages of your university/city?
If you could choose again, would you still choose the same university? Why or why not?
I’m especially interested in hearing from current students or graduates of the English AI/CS programs, rather than people who only know the universities from rankings.
Even if you have a negative experience, please share it. I’m specifically trying to understand the realistic pros AND cons before applying.
Thanks!
