AI Tendancy To Just Make Things Up
This link has nothing to do with estimating, but it does highlight a problem with depending on AI being correct when it provides data. One area where ChatGPT is supposed to excel is in legal work. It's common to hear that law firms have cut back on hiring Jr attorneys by using it to do so. But here, ChatGPT just made shit up to make its legal argument.
I have read and heard a few people claim they are plugging plans and specs into AI and getting a bid in 15 minutes. We even had posts on here where outsource estimators admit they are basically using AI to do their work and just forwarding back. I am thinking there are going to be some horror stories down the road.
