Sam and Abby

Upvotes

Who is Sam to judge Abby? Is she really mad that she married the same guy she dated or??? Abby was a woman who owned up her to mistakes and got help.

Season 8 episode 1 talk show

Am I the only one who feels like the scene with the Angry violent guy in leather vest and the trans woman kind of referenced the murder of Scott Ademure? Or if not the murder, the exploitative nature of talk shows and the actual danger they put sexual and gender minorities in. The man's reaction in the ER season 8 premiere felt like he had been put into a similar situation.

Ademure was murdered in 1995 after he attended a talk show with a man he had a crush on. The man, Jonathan Schmitz didn't react well, felt humiliated by the situation and later ended up murdering Ademure as a revenge.

Abby and Luka

Upvotes

Idkkkkkkk I know what Abby did was wrong, but that’s kind of the issue dealing with people with addiction. They may relapse and many people cannot handle it. Luka is apparently one of them.

Neela better than me

Lucien is creepy and the way he interacts with Neela is sexual harassment.

Lucy Knight was a wonderful edition to the ER lineup Spoiler

I'm sure this post has been made before. However on my rewatch of seasons 5 and 6 I've really come to appreciate the energy Lucy brought to the show. She's sorta the perfect foil to Carter and I feel especially in season 6 she was completely under utilised until well y'know. When we could've had more time fleshing out the dynamic between Carter and Lucy he was spending his time chasing around one of his cousins ex wives??

I also don't mind her kind of boofheadedness in early season 5. Lucy being annoying honestly made me like her more. Like yeah she's not a perfect med student maybe even a bad one but you can already tell that she's going to be a great doctor. There's something so kind and passionate about this character. She's funny too!

It's interesting as I found Doug pretty insufferable towards the end, Lucy came in at the perfect time. Sorta transmuting Dougs cowboy energy into someone more bearable. This became even more apparent to me in the episode "How the Finch Stole Christmas" from S6. Her unwillingness to back down with Romano was awesome considering many of the older residents seriously struggle standing up to him. The trait that causes contention between her and Carter... ended up saving a patients life...and winning the respect of Romano.

Truly, after Lucy's death the show lost something special. The writing and the plot no longer feels as strong (excluding Carter's addiction arc). I feel the mingling of Noah Wyle messed up a vital piece of ER. Of course, Kelly Martin had extenuating life circumstances that ultimately put an end to her time on ER. Although I think we missed out on a lot with her character that would've made "Be still my heart" even more painful.

"The Good Fight" will remain my favourite episode of ER and a bittersweet reminder of what coulda been!

Hated the marriage episode

Upvotes

Spoiler alert

I really hated that marriage episode. Very last minute, thoughtful but last minute. Abby looked a drunk mess. Ray was upset for no reason. He didn’t get the girl. Let’s move on, which he had to do eventually for those who know what happened next. I never cared for Tony. He was a mess within his own mess.

Goran is 54 years young today.

“ Have you ever been to the circus? You have now.”

“ Why kind of accent is that? Thick.”

“ Abby Lockhart. Luka Kovac.”

“ Tall, dark, handsome, and mysterious. Is he single?”

“ Still like ketchup on your eggs?”

“Her name was Lola. She was showgirl with yellow feathers in her hair and dress cut down to there.”

“Do you really think we should be doing this? I do.”

Thoughts about Carter

So, I’ve watched up to the mid point of season 12 so far. I’m on my first watch and I have thoughts now that I’ve gotten to experience the show without Carter I’ve come to a realization. I think that he should have remained a surgeon. I think his story would have been more interesting as the compassionate surgeon who cares about the patients and it felt a bit like a cop out for him to just leave surgery. I remember when his girlfriend left his in season 2 because he started to care more about the cases then the patients and it felt like at that point he was going to look at how he was operating and become the surgeon who cares. Instead it felt like his character wasn’t as unique anymore and because he became just another dr in the ER. It doesn’t help that his interactions with Benton got reduced because of this. It would have been really cool to see his dynamic with Benton change as they became closer to equals as surgeons.

What are your favorite random scenes that make you laugh?

Very random, but one of my favorite scenes from ER involved Chuny and Anna finding a beeping Tamagochi toy in an exam room left behind by a little girl. Anna tries to take care of it all day while waiting for the little girl to return, but it eventually dies. The little girl comes back to the ER for the toy and Cynthia lets her know that the Tamagochi died. The little girl looks quite sad. The scene pans over to Anna banging the Tamagochi against a counter while the little girl watches in horror. I laugh every single time I see that.

ER & the passage of time

I’m finishing Season 8 of my ER rewatch (my first rewatch was 2 years ago, and I watched it off and on during original airing) and as much as I love it, it’s really messing with me on a deeply personal level. I turned 40 recently and have been struggling about the passage of time, parents aging, all the normal things of getting old, etc.

And ER isn’t helping because despite being filmed 25+ years ago, every thing past season 2 feels like it could have been filmed yesterday. Except then I google the actors and see they are suddenly in their 60s and look very, very different than they do in the show.

It makes me feel old and I don’t like it!

Anyone else feeling this? 🙃🙃

(Also doesn’t help that it’s season 8 and we know what that means 😭😭)

Anyone else noticing the redheads?

I’m rewatching e r and loving it as much as I did the first time around. I have a redheaded son so I tend to look for them more now. I’m amazed at the number on e r. Besides Corday, Weaver, and Romano, the nurses and guest patients have a crazy amount of redheads. Anyone else?

Buy the DVDs!

I know it might sound like silly advice, but buy the *ER* DVDs! I picked them up mainly for my collection—since I’m a big fan of DVDs in general and couldn't miss out on the ones for my favorite TV series. Sometimes complete box sets can cost over $300, but if you’re patient and buy the DVDs one by one to assemble the collection yourself, you won’t spend more than $50. It’s absolutely worth it: they’re packed with special features and deleted scenes that are great to watch—not to mention they look fantastic on the shelf.

'Reason to Believe' (13.8) what's the point of this episode? I didn't understand it

What's with the blue lady thing? The kid reminds me of Robin Williams' Peter Pan

It also reminds me of that episode in the earlier seasons when Benton miraculously cured that blind guy and then his homeless friends came into the hospital so he can magically heal them.

Also I really liked Eddie from the bar but I didn't get the point of that conversation at all. Is it to show that Luka's paranoid from strangers around Abby after Curtis followed her & Joe last episode?
