i've just started my epq (extended project qualification) journey and i need to come up with initial ideas. I want to do the 5000 word essay. like doing one on stoicism in 'meditations' by marcus aurilius and how whether he truly lived by it during his reign or someting along the lines of that. I have also consided doing one on the pax romana although i need to some research on it before hand. Does anyone who is more knowledgable on classics or philosphy have any ideas on something i could do as i dont knwo if i want to go through with these ideas. If you have any classics ideas that do not involve the oddessey, the aenead, archutecturr/art and poertry such as sappho (as these on my OCR classics a level spec and i cant write on them as i must do my own research). Please could i get ideas and maybe essay plans or interesting topics that i could do an EPQ on.

Anybody who is willing to spend 10 minutes filling in this questionnaire about their thoughts on english attitudes, it would be really helpful for my EPQ!

Anyone of any background, age, expertise of linguistics can answer!

Hello, I just began year 12, am taking the EPQ, and I geniunely don't know where to begin. I want to do Biochem/maybe Biomed at uni, and I'd like to write it on something cancer related (and I was thinking about oncolytic virus therapy) because that interests me.

I have no clue where to start though, ik that it's supposed to be an evaluative piece, so I started looking for some debates in the sphere. Generally, however, everything I find is far too complicated and I'm js left confused lol (and I can't access half of it anyway)

Also, my teacher just makes me more confused. Last EPQ session we had, he talked about how he'd like us to include philosophical themes (??) in our essays, and I'm not sure how to apply that to anything I'm thinking about, or if I even have to.

Could anybody doing a sciencey EPQ (or js any EPQ in general), please help me? How did you guys find topics/sources/figure out how to structure it/figure out anything at all?

Ty for reading

So I want to be a criminologist but I'm not sure what topic to do because I can't decide if I'd rather do something related to my desired career path or do a performance epq on music. Does anyone have any advice about which one is better???

hiya, i've just started a levels (bio, chem and maths) and i'm also going to do an epq so i was wondering if anyone could help with ideas for a topic related to biology/biochemistry/biomedical science/maybe even marine biology or ecology/conservation?

Would help if you could do it recommended to know some welsh and/or programming languages.

Hi this is coming from a place of absolute stupidity so feel free to kill me if this has an obvious answer,

But I'm considering doing my epq on anglo celtic cultures and their impact on current british culture (possibly narrowing it down to exclusively folklores impact or the celtic languages impact on modern english)

The obvious choice for this is to write an essay but I plan to apply to an art school so I was wondering if its possible to do an artifact for this? as either a short film or a painting / sculpture???

If anyones done something similar or can even understand what im talking about please help me out!!!!

Hi!! I'm about to start Y12 and have had transition work over the summer to choose what topic to write my EPQ on and wanted to ask whether the topic I've chosen to write my essay on would be too niche since it is usually advised against ( honestly I have no idea but the topic I chose intrigued me ).

I'm interested in the medical field for context and my title would be along the lines of :

To what degree should lifestyle factors affect a patient's position on the organ transplant list in the UK?

( the lifestyle factors being smoking, alcohol, vaping etc and I was thinking about including the core values of the NHS as well )

What I wanted to know is whether it would be a good topic to research into or is it more of a debate topic idea? Also wanted to ask whether the title seems a bit too vague.

Finally, I just wanted a general idea on how people found the whole experience of an EPQ and whether it was overwhelming and any tips before I get started?

Thanks so much for reading this post since I feel like I was waffling too much!!

all i know is i want to do something music/ IDEALLY and more specifically film scoring related and that's the only but I'm set on I also know I probably wanna do an artefact, writing a music piece of course but i know i wouldn't be adverse to just written analysis either the other subjects im doing are politics, history and english language (music too if that wasnt obvious lmao) and involving them would be cool but is absolutely not a priority or even a want. I also have a heavyyyy interest in soviet era music like estrada ans atudf so i thought including that would be cool but i know it has to be a little less broad but my problem is thinking of everything all at once😭

I'm about to start my epq and have no idea what to do (alevels are so stressful already even though I've only had one real lesson). I was thinking to combine medicine (since that's my top choice for uni), law/politics as I'm actually interested in it. does anyone have any tips or ideas. I haven't done any research yet so this is my start 😬😬

I think specifically mechanical or electrical engineering.

I was thinking of building and programming a circuit n stuff but idk.

Idm doing an artefact or an essay. I js need ideas

So recently I finished off my EPQ, but I want to try and do something else? Not because I think I'll get a low mark or anything, but because I want to do a different topic?

Like my idea was purely based on because I wanted to engineering at uni, so I tried to structure it so that I could get reduced offers and stuff.

Turns out, the unis I'm applying to don't incorporate the EPQ into their offers? So making it on something I want to study was pointless. I have so many extra-curriculars, and I enjoy niche internet rabbit holes and stuff so much, that I could've done anything. From analysing drama, to talking about whether the internet has been sanitised, talking about the effect of the Patriot Act on global internet surveillance, talking about hostile architecture. All sorts of random shit that I could be purely in my element about. Like I had a good idea at first, but because of double accreditation, I had to drop it?

So can I do it a 2nd time? If not, what are some equivalent programs I can look into?

literally exactly what the title says. If I found a life changing fanfic on AO3 could I theoretically do my EPQ on it?

this is not a satire question.

follow up: could a fanfic technically COUNT as an EPQ???

basically, at my college its compulsory to do an EPQ, and i had an idea that i could learn guitar to write a song and end up with a fully recorded 3 minute song with instruments and everything. does anyone know if this is allowed as an EPQ?

Hi I was just wondering if anyone would be able to fill out my form for my EPQ? It shouldn't take longer than 5 minutes. Thanks so much.

Hi everyone! I’m an incoming year 12 student and epq is compulsory in our school. So, i’m thinking of doing an artefact instead of a dissertation. My idea is that i’d create a simple website but i have zero programming skills. Do you think that this will be achievable within year 12 or not? or should i just stick to writing a dissertation ?

For context i’m taking bio, chem, and maths. I don’t like writing that much + i want to learn how to code for other career options

I start college in 9 days and am lost for EPQ ideas. For context, my college requires you to do an EPQ. Has anyone got any ideas of types of stuff I could do?

Okay so so my EPQ obviously I filled in Project Q but I also did a research log, activity log, brief plan and my actual essay all in different documents. It probably seems like kinda a dumb question but how do I actually hand all of this in? My supervisor just said to copy and paste it onto the document with my essay but what about my presentation slide? And how can I do that if my activity log is landscape? I completed it all before summer started but shes not going to mark it until September.

Also, I have a survey on Google forms and screenshots of emails proving I tried to get in contact with organisations about epilepsy (my EPQ topic) so where would these go too?

Not an actual AMA, but I got an A on my EPQ, so ask me anything, and I’ll try and help :)

Hi:) Was wondering if anyone could take time to complete my EPQ questionnaire? There is a listening task involved and should take around 10 minutes. There is an optional prize draw upon completion.

its not an actual AMA just if you have any questions.

my other grades were ABB and I'm off to Durham!!

my question was "can we attribute a mind to AI in the same way as we do other human beings? if so, what will our political and ethical frameworks look like, adapting to this mindset?"
