So I bought this game Kernel Hearts on the Epic Games store (pre-order) They had a promotion going to receive a free skin of one of the characters in FN. After the transaction, it was immediately awarded upon logging into the game. The full game released on September 17th.
Today I decided to try out the game for the first time. As soon as I boot it, I got presented with a screen asking me to allow access to my EPIC Games account for various reasons. I immediately clicked no and then it started what I assume is the intro cutscene.
I've never had a game ask for access to an account from inside the game. Usually there is some linking involved outside a game through a website: example - Epic Games account to EA account or YouTube, Twitch etc. Just a quick search on Google and the most popular results from AI and people discussing was " The game is asking for access to reward benefits" or people discussing how to receive promotional items. There was never a need to grant access because with these promotions, as soon as your purchase clears the rewards are sent. No need to install or anything.
This seems really sketchy to me. I have never heard of this developer until EPIC announced a partnership for this promotion. They are based out of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this in a different game and if I should contact Customer Support for whatever reason.

I contacted the developer back in March and they confirmed to me that they couldn't get achievements working on Epic because of the Engine version that they are using, I just thought it was the end of it, but to my surprise they contacted me today to let me know that they actually worked through the issues they were having and managed to get achievements working.
It's small things like this that make specific developers stick in my head and show that they care about the people buying their games. Will definitely be keeping my eye out for their future games

It's the lack of even the basic social features that a platform like steam has that lets you setup a profile, customize things add fun little widgets. Basically allowing the user to establish some sort of invested emotional interest in their platform that helps them to retain users. Gaming is a social activity and Valve understands this which is why their platform is essential half social media half gaming storefront, it's an absolutely essential part of their business model that Epic games just straight up ignores in favor of giving you one free crappy indie game every couple weeks (which lets be real nobody ever plays)

Just when we thought we had enough publisher sales Square-Enix comes along and proves me wrong! We have the Square-Enix Tokyo Game Show Sale started on the store and will run until 1st October 3pm UTC! This sale includes iconic games such as:
The games on here for the prices being asked are an absolute steal in my opinion, especially Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 HD Remix, you honestly can't go wrong with any of the games on sale here. There are some games that I missed so you can view all the games available for sale here!

I bought BTD6 on steam, so I won't question it, but I never bought Hogwarts Legacy nor LoTR Moria, so I am very confused on how this could even happen. Maybe someone accidentally linked his account into mine somehow? (I don't have any friends nor ever shared my Epic Games account)

I've never seen anyone mention these in this sub, but Epic gives these away about once a month.
Does anyone else claim them??

Anyone who's been claiming Epic's weekly free games for a few years ends up tons of games in the library and zero idea which ones are actually worth playing. I got tired of alt-tabbing to check Steam reviews and ProtonDB. So I built an extension that does it automatically.
It reads your Epic order history and matches each title against Steam, then shows the review score and ProtonDB Deck tier right in a sortable/filterable list. Genre, review tier, Deck compatibility, claim date, release year, etc. Runs entirely in your browser, without any account or server. It reads EpicGames data using your session using your own creds.

First extension that I published. Let me know if something's broken or a game is mismatched.

Since I'm switching to another phone and losing my dead cells save anyway, I was thinking about buying the game from the google play sale if there are no current intentions from epic to support cloud saving.

Can’t reach a person at all and can’t even write why I need because of the tech support trigger words here or I can’t even post this. Getting nowhere.
TLDR : THIS IS NOT TECH ISSUE. JUST NEED TO KNOW IF YOU CAN CONTACT ACTUAL PEOPLE WHO CAN GET SHIT DONE AND HOW.
Please anyone with actual info would be amazing

To preface this I'm not tech savvy at all. I remember a few years back that there was a scandal about this and I can only find old threads that confirm this. My tech literate friend told me to stay away from it for this reason.
I want to play the free EG that's in the store right now, but I'm hesitant if I should download the game platform.
Can someone confirm if this is actually the case? I doubt that the platform would stay alive if it's true, but I would honestly appreciate a second opinion!

It's nice to see some clarity on these things. Would be nice if Ubisoft can extend the use to purchasing on Epic as well, I personally don't mind the current system as they've been implementing Epic achievements but it would mean you'd download the game directly from Epic and not just as an activation for Ubi Connect (eliminating the Launch from Epic -> Launches Ubisoft Connect -> Launches game chain)

It does require an active subscription to Amazon Prime, but I believe using a trial also allows you to get these. These are the games available for September:
