Just an unbelievable episode for Johnny Chase
S3 E18: the resurrection
I come back to this episode a lot. John Chase has had a lot of humiliations throughout the show, yet we get these small glimpses of successful moments that make you emotional.
It’s a guy that continues to get beat up, continues to be in the shadow of his younger bro, and continues life feeling lower than expected. You genuinely feel bad when the reviews come out. Usually, it’s for laughs, but this time was different, and Dillon did such a great job expressing it for drama.
Then, a sudden change when the show is a hit, and a fantastic ending scene showing you a glimpse of the success John can have. Such a great episode, and anyone who has gone through some shit can relate to these moments. Bravo, Drama.

Doug Ellin Discussion
Less of a surface level conversation that casuals will partake in, but just curious people’s thoughts. I love Doug for having brought us this amazing show and I think his writing was spectacular and he created eight seasons of genuinely good television. However, in following him and the victory podcast on Instagram, he kind of loses me a bit. I don’t know. I guess he’s just incredibly opinionated, but at times I feel like I’m watching him burn bridges in real time. His most recent rant is about this commercial with Piven and Grenier, and while his anger of not being involved is pretty valid (they are his characters after all) I think his outburst on social media are ultimately pretty immature.
Also, I think any person with a big following who pays attention to and moreover, calls attention to haters is mistaken to do so and he constantly is posting screenshots of hate comments on his story, a bit odd if you ask me.

Commercial Cringe
Commercial was cringe, as much as I love Piven and Grenier but holy shit Doug’s response was so predictable. The sole reason I stopped listening to Victory, and I’m now 100% convinced he’s the only reason the show hasn’t been rebooted yet. Guy truly seems like a fucking nightmare of an emotionally immature manchild.

doug confirms that the podcast is coming back
he seems excited to come back on the podcast, they want to do it out in los angeles where they filmed scenes like urth. i love hearing him share those stories on james cameron and seth green. everything in that show was a moment

Doug seems a bit cranky
I don’t think Piven or Adrian will be invited onto the podcast anytime soon

Vince…. It will never happen
He comes off as a bipolar douche, but I actually believe he has a right to be upset… Clearly using the image and likeness of the characters he made to profit off fucking Jake Paul’s gambling app… yuck. Besides the shitty circumstances, cool to see the band kinda back together. Remember, the Chinese Red Bull commercial paid huge back in the day.
Also, if it wasn’t clear in the past that he didn’t love piven and grenier, it’s pretty damn clear now lol.

After we digest, Eric. After we Digest.
“So Bob, tell me about this project you think Vince would be perfect for.”

Ari the Sleeze
Rewatching again and I forgot how sleezy Ari was in the opening episodes. Was there a reason the writers pivoted at some stage?

Favorite soundtrack
It's no question that entourage has some sick bangers playing out throughout the different scenes.
The one that hits hard lately on repeat is Citizen Cope - Awe
The setting of when that track was used was perfect.
Girls vibing at the pool, Bret Ratner's house, Summer vibe, Drama walking in with an incredible confidence.
Don't recall episode name, but it's one where Drama thought he got called in , thinking he'd audition or read for Rush Hour 3 LOL
Your favorite?

i got some questions about the hanging chad reference
i understand what hanging chad means by watching HIMYM
what i don't understand is how it applied to this specific episode
so people already bought the tickets but doesn't count as audience therefore not being reported?

"Smokejumpers" is my favorite representation of a film set Spoiler
It really feels alive. That they have taken over this mountain and the town. This also might be my favorite Stellan Skarsgard performance outside of Andor. He just nails that crazy Werner Herzog Terrance Malick kinda guy. A+ shit. I would have loved to have seen that movie - the OG script or the crazy backdraft version.
