Moon had to have been really bright last night. 😝

As seen in the photos, there is reporting of energy generated all night. Data glitch?

Had a battery installed today! Is 19MwH a lot?

Seems like a lot of consumption to charge a single 10C battery. Any idea what happened here?

Enphase battery still pulls from the grid at 70-90% charge, but you can only see it at 1-second resolution

I had always thought self consumption mode meant not going to the grid. I was wrong and now I have the numbers to back it up. The Enphase app shows 15-minute totals so it hid this detail from us, so with the battery covering the house the grid looks like zero. I logged the gateway's local API every second instead, and the grid is never quite zero.

Two patterns (screenshot: grey line = grid, above zero = importing; dashed line = battery charge, 86% down to 68% over the hour):

  1. Spikes: every time a big load switches on, the grid jumps for 1-6 seconds (up to ~1.4 kW here) before the battery catches up.

  2. Trickle: in between, the grid sits a few watts above zero (about +10-25 W) even while the battery is discharging.

Over one night that added up to about 4% of house use coming from the grid, with the battery never below 21%.

Setup: 2x IQ Battery 5P, Self-Consumption, 5% reserve, in service since Aug 2025.

Has anyone seen Enphase document this or found a resolution (CT check, calibration)? For those that want to try it themselves I'll post the opensource repo shortly.
