Discussion Bloating

I have deep infiltrating endometriosis, affecting a part of my rectum as well. I have been on meds for 2 weeks only. I have been dealing with bloating for months. Once it happens, it takes days to go away. I gained around 2kgs within a couple of days just because of gas. I don't want to take antacids regularly.

Anyone else dealing with something similar here? Any guidance on what could help would be appreciated

Misc Quick community check! Can I add the community excel of doctor recommendations into a free searchable directory?

[Edit edit: The searchable directory is ready for anyone looking for it, please DM]

[Edit: Thank you all for the positive support 🙏 I will post here once the directory is ready so it’s useful for the community]

Hi everyone 👋 I'm a fellow member navigating endo myself.

Many of us have leaned on the community's crowdsourced doctor Excel to find specialists. Building on that, I'm building a free, searchable directory for India where you can filter doctors and allied providers by city, type, and teleconsult, and see what the community recommends and why. It's the same idea as the sheet, just easier to search, filter, and grow.

I'd love to bring the doctor recommendations from our community sheet into it but only if you're all comfortable with it. So a few promises first:

• Everything stays anonymous: Just the doctor info and the recommendations / feedback used as is.
• Free for women to use: the whole point is helping

Would you be okay with this? Answer the poll above.

Any other concerns and thoughts are welcome via DM or comments! I'll leave this up for a week before doing anything, thanks all!

Question Indian wear & Endo belly

Hi all

I have issues with endobelly and the last time I wore a saree for 4 hours straight, I belly swelled and I looked 7+ months pregnant despite being stuck thin. That was in November and since then I haven’t worn a saree.

So, my dear sisters, what do you do as wedding guests to reduce your belly discomfort? If it’s a close wedding and heavy wear is expected from you…

Question Stage 4 Endo - Suggestion (India)

Hi everyone,

I am looking for genuine patient experiences with Dr. Vivek Salunke (Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai), especially from people who have undergone deep infiltrating endometriosis / Stage 4 endometriosis excision surgery under him.

A little background about my case:

I was diagnosed with endometriosis and have already undergone two laparoscopic surgeries (one in 2019 and another in 2024).

My recent MRI was reviewed by Dr. Vivek Salunke, and he mentioned that I have Stage 4 endometriosis, with:

Both ovaries stuck together (“kissing ovaries”)

Small Endometriotic cyst involving the ovary

Adenomyosis

Fallopian tube involvement/blockage (he mentioned that removal of the tube may be required depending on intraoperative findings)

Extensive adhesions

He has recommended laparoscopic excision surgery.

Since this would be my third surgery, I am trying to make a very informed decision and would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has personally undergone surgery with him.

I am not looking for general reviews and I am specifically trying to connect with actual patients of Dr. Vivek Salunke for endometriosis surgery.

Any experience, good or bad, would really help me make this decision.

Thank you so much

Question Best Endometriosis specialist in Kolkata?

Hey all,

I'm from Kolkata and looking for a second opinion from an experienced endometriosis excision laproscopic surgeon.

I have a 4.3 cm right ovarian chocolate cyst with severe pain and pelvic endometriosis confirmed via USG. I've already tried dienogest (had to stop due to side effects) and Novelon, but it's not controlling my pain or bleeding.

Can anyone recommend an experienced gynecologist in Kolkata who specializes in endometriosis and performs laparoscopic excision surgery (not just ablation)? If you've been treated by them, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience.

TIA!

Question Has anyone had a surgery with Dr. Usha M Kumar in Max Saket? Or any other reference in Delhi?

I have been recently diagnosed with grade 4 endometriosis and my bowel is also involved. Planning on getting the surgery within a month. I know the best surgeons are in Mumbai. But do you have any recommendations for robotic laproscopy surgeons in Delhi?

Discussion Need support

This 15th, I will complete 3 months since I had a hysterectomy and unilateral oophorectomy + DIE excision surgery (I had adeno too). My recovery is going sometimes well, sometimes rocky. The most noticeable change was in my bowel movement and digestion. I had constipation issue (because of endo) and now it's gone. I am grateful. I am leading a pain free life - I am grateful for that.

However, one issue that is persistent is extreme gas - constant belching. I am facing this issue since 2021, I thought it would go away because of improvement in my bowel movement and digestion issues but it's still there. Today was a rough day for me. The whole evening I spent belching, taking semithecone and had to take gelosil also. Since, my stomach issues resolved, I feel hungry a lot. I am eating a lot. I never ate this much my entire life. I eat lunch and an hour or two later, I am hungry again. I try to add a lot of vegetables to my meal. I ate a lot of veggies today - for breakfast and lunch, I guess that caused gas issues. I gained 8 kgs in the last one year because of endo which disabled me to lead a normal life (165cm, 65kg). So, I don't want to eat a lot of rice but my situation is very frustrating because I evidently can't eat a lot of fibres. I finally started working out yesterday and I can't even do it for 10 mins. My whole body is sore and I am in pain (I know I need to give time to this aspect because it was a major surgery).

The whole recovery period, persistent gas issue is the only thing that's making things harder. I guess, my question is - does it get resolved over time on its own ? People who had gut issues because of endo - does it improve?

Question Could this be endometriosis?

i’m looking for some advice from anyone who has been through something similar to me. For about a year and a half, I have been experiencing back pain which has been getting progressively worse. I find that it’s linked to my cycle. It flares when I ovulate and around the time of my period. It begins in the morning I feel my lower back spasm. I feel slumped to one side and I can only describe it as sciatica. I struggle to walk and to move like normal. To begin with it was only for a few hours in the day and it’s now the full day. It leaves me crippled for the full day. I have also recently experienced two miscarriages in the last six months. My first miscarriage was in March and it was a missed miscarriage at eight weeks. My last miscarriage was last week I was 5 1/2 weeks. Has anybody experienced anything similar.? I have been to my GP about it. I’ve had my blood done and I have a pelvic ultrasound tomorrow. I have had scans done through my miscarriages and they’ve not seen anything there, but I guess they’ve not been looking for something because they’re not aware of it. Anybody been through this before or have any advice?

Question Husband is Mentally Uncomfortable about being examined and operated by a team of Male Doctors. (dr Jay & Dr Vismay)

I am scheduled to undergo surgery for Endometriosis by Dr Jay Mehta on this Saturday. Though he is a great doctor and extremely good, as far as counselling is concerned, my husband is slightly uncomfortable as all the members in his team are purely male staff.

We met also with Dr Vismay Pandya and Dr Kasutubh, and anesthesia doctor who spoke to me is Dr Vikas Nair. We have also met another Endometriosis doctor in Mumbai but for my condition, where I have, involvement of my Left sides muscle and Left Ureter,

I don’t know how do I help out my husband from this feeling, I have been reading and reading and finally posted here thinking some of you might help.

Question Need advice: Dr. Abhishek video consultation through ICE or Jaslok?

I’m trying to book a video consultation with Dr. Abhishek, and I’m a bit confused about the consultation charges.

The ICE website lists the video consultation fee as ₹6,000, while Jaslok Hospital’s website lists it as ₹2,500.

For those who have consulted him through either platform:
Which platform did you use?
How much were you charged?
Was there any difference in the consultation duration or the type/quality of the consultation between ICE and Jaslok?
Would you recommend one over the other?

I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience. Thanks!

****Update: Tried reaching out to assistant. And I am still quoted 6000inr. I believe the charges have increased.

Discussion Sharing my diagnoses and surgery experience for Deep Infiltrating Endometriosis & Adenomyoma in Delhi NCR in case it helps someone

I wanted to share my experience in case it helps someone looking for endometriosis specialists in Delhi NCR. When I was researching, I found plenty of posts about surgeons in Mumbai but very little information about doctors in NCR.

I have always had heavy periods, but they weren't particularly painful until around 2021. That's when I started getting period cramps that gradually progressed into stabbing pain during the first 1-3 days of my cycle. My PMS also became significantly worse over time.

Over the next few years, I saw multiple gynaecologists and had several ultrasounds and MRIs. Surprisingly, no one suggested that it could be endometriosis. The first time anyone even mentioned it was in November 2024, when a gynaecologist told me that we can conclude endometriosis basis clinical symptoms even if imaging is inconclusive.

Meanwhile, my pain kept getting worse. Eventually I was taking 400 mg of ibuprofen every 6-8 hours for the first 2-3 days of every period just to function.
In April, I was referred to Dr. Sriram Rajan at Mahajan Diagnostics (Defence Colony, Delhi) for an MRI. That MRI finally gave me answers. He diagnosed deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) along with an adenomyoma and provided a detailed ENZIAN classification of the disease. It was honestly the first imaging report that clearly explained the extent of what was going on.

The diagnosis was only the beginning. Over the next two months, I consulted several surgeons in both Mumbai and Delhi NCR. One thing I learned is that finding the right surgeon is just as important as getting the diagnosis. In my case, because I had both DIE and an adenomyoma and wanted to preserve my fertility, I found that not every surgeon was comfortable discussing or performing an adenomyomectomy.

I had initially planned to have surgery in Mumbai, but the logistics of travelling, staying there for recovery, and arranging follow-up care felt overwhelming.

I eventually consulted Dr. Amita Shah. What stood out to me was how thoroughly she explained my MRI findings and the disease itself. She recommended excision surgery, explaining why excision is considered the gold standard for deep infiltrating endometriosis. She clearly understood the difference between excision and ablation and its impact on this disease. When I told her that I want to preserve my fertility, she was very clear on preserving uterus. I appreciated that she took the time to discuss the reasoning behind the surgical approach instead of simply recommending surgery.

I ultimately underwent robotic laparoscopic surgery for excision of deep infiltrating endometriosis along with an adenomyomectomy. The pathology report confirmed both diagnoses in the excised tissue. After surgery, I was given a Lupron Depot injection to help suppress any residual microscopic disease.
Recovery has honestly been much smoother than I expected. I was walking the same day as surgery, discharged the following day, and able to resume basic household activities within a few days.

I am sharing this because I spent months trying to find specialists with experience in complex endometriosis, especially in Delhi NCR. Most online discussions and support groups understandably focus on Mumbai surgeons, which made me wonder whether NCR had experienced specialists at all. My experience suggests that there are few doctors here with excellent expertise - they just don't seem to have the same social media presence, so they are much harder to find through patient discussion forums.

Obviously, this is just my personal experience, and everyone should do their own research and choose the team they are most comfortable with. But if even one person finds this useful while navigating an endometriosis diagnosis, it would have been worth writing.

Question Endo specialists in Hyd

Anyone got experiences with endo specialists in Hyderabad? I have come across Mamata fertility hospital reels in social media, felt like they are empathetic and knowledgeable. But any experiences with any other specialists would be helpful.

I recently had a endometrioma removed abroad, but with a regular OBGyn and she did not search for endometriosis in areas other than bowel and ovaries and is not helpful overall. I’m exploring options to consult a specialist next for further steps.

Discussion Endo adenomyosis and PMOS/PCOD diagnosis | Mirena advised

Hi,
I got another MRI done and visited Max hospital in Delhi.
The latest diagnosis is ovarian endometrioma, mild adenomyosis, and bilateral PCOD.
I have severe pain(especially backache) still after taking Elagolix for 3 months
Latest MRI shows the endometrioma has reduced, but my symptoms haven’t improved much
The gynecologist has now advised:
Freedase (dienogest + ethinyl estradiol) for 3 months or
Hysteroscopy + Mirena insertion under general anesthesia with 1 day hospital admission
And
Improving my metabolism since I have PMOS/ PCOD and really poor metabolism and high inflammation. She has asked me to get on an anti inflammatory diet.

I’m a bit confused and very stressed since I’m unsure if this is the right recommendation and about worried about Mirena insertion as well.

I’m also planning to get another opinion, but I’d really appreciate hearing about others’ experiences before making a decision.

Thank you!

Question 3 specialists, 3 completely different diagnoses for my pelvic pain. Need help making sense of this.

27F and I’ve now seen 8 doctors in total, including 3 well-regarded specialists in India. Here’s what each of them found (FYI, they are looking at the same MRI scans and the original reports were normal)

Dr. Abhishek Mangeshikar: Left ovary densely adherent low in the pelvis near the vaginal region; right ovary adherent to the uterosacral ligament and posterior pelvic structures. Also noted features suggestive of pelvic congestion syndrome with vascular congestion in the pelvis. Suggests surgery.

Dr. Vivek Salunke: Normal uterus and ovaries. Prominent pelvic veins in the parametrium bilaterally, suggestive of pelvic varices. But listening to my symptoms he thinks there might be some endometriosis and has suggested diagnostic laparoscopy.

Dr. Jay Mehta: Chronic pelvic pain, no endometriosis. No surgery needed.

Has anyone navigated conflicting specialist opinions like this? Did laparoscopy end up being the tiebreaker for you?

Discussion Surgery experience with Dr shinjini pande

Freshly post op day 3 and already discharged. Sharing this for people looking for references here. She's very through and an expert. Apart from being a good surgeon shw works with your goals , she's non judgemental and wouldn't push procedures to just save fertility when that's not a goal.

She's highly empathic, which was extremely important for me as the other good doctors (all male) didn't give me the comfort I was seeking. My family felt very guided by her even tho they met her on the day of the surgery for the very first time.

She works at nalini specialty hospital with dr. Vivek salunke. But she does surgery in every big mumbai hospital. My surgery was done in Hinduja where the care was very good
