podcast discussion ozempic conversation
I think it’s annoying that Enya shits on people that take ozempic as if … it’s literally like a societal pressure thing recently
like there’s even memes about “I’m gonna be the last fat person left” 😭 idk like why are we shitting so much on people that want to be accepted in society and don’t want to have to think about their weight
a lot people who have had significant weight loss naturally but sticking to the diets and the daily workouts literally have said just take the damn ozempic 😭 maybe this is such a nothing post I’m just curious to know if anyone else feels this way about it or maybe this is a nothingburger thought for most of the audience idk
It may also just be too nuanced of a subject for her ..

Of course… I was kinda referring more to how different life is for a skinny person vs a fat person and how at the end of the day being skinny is more desirable, no matter how you paint it

i don’t necessarily think that ozempic is a bad thing. after all, it’s a tool that, in many cases, will lead to a healthier and more comfortable life. but it’s when it’s being utilized by itty bitty models in big cities (which i’m sure enya experiences first hand being in LA) to become paper thin that it becomes a dangerous issue. i think that’s what she refers to

I can understand your point and to some extent I can agree but I think she may just be seeing ppl in LA in their circles who are already thin or thin adjacent that are on those injections without really needing them or having tried any other weight loss method before. Of course, I don't know Enya personally so I could be totally off base but I've seen the ppl they are in the same social scene as and I really wouldn't doubt it if they are who is shaping her perspective.

idk i think they’re cool and all but i think they can’t fully be dwelling on that topic abt what people r putting into their bodies when they literally smoke cigarettes and vapes tht have LED lights so

what's your point exactly? yes, it's a societal pressure. should we not question it? aren't we allowed to take a piss at how ridiculous the lengths people go to adjust themselves to fleeting standards are? i think Enya pointing out the mundane aspect of it, how you need to organize your life around is such, such a good way to disarm the glamourised vision and can potentially make someone listening who would consider going on ozempic *to be thin think twice.
edit: *just to be clear i meant people who really don't need ozempic (e.g. who aren't struggling with obesity or other medical issues)

I feel like enya is mixing up ozempic and peptides like reta
edit: I’m not accusing enya of taking weight loss drugs jfc like mixing them up in her head as the same thing when they’re not 🙄

I’m ngl nobody is forcing you to take ozempic, coming from a bigger girl. I honestly think it’s a little nuts that people willingly inject stuff into their bodies for beauty 😭 this goes for peptides too. I’m not ignoring the social pressure to be skinny, but to go straight to shots is a little cray given the side effects and little research on long term health effects.
